Jen Scaffidi and Carson Cessna – Don’t Call It a Comeback – S12 E20
It’s always awesome to welcome old friends back in the hallowed halls of the Dogwater Studios, especially these two: Jen Scaffidi and Carson Cessna. Jen and Carson are 2/3 of the perennial Carson rockers Blunderbusst and all of the noise sorcerers known as Wizard Colors. True to form, Jen brings a whole slate of new new songs for us to listen to this week.
Per usual, while on hiatus, they have still been hard at work crafting songs about life and self. They are set to head into the studio to create yet another full-length and are approaching it in a novel way for them. lovely and talented Carolyn Gates is on hiatus and could not make it out, but we love her, wish her will hand hope to see her again soon.
Hope you’re having a holiday. Thanks for listening.
Jen Scaffidi – Fresh Hugs and Otter Pop Memories – S11 E21
What can I say about Jen Scaffidi that hasn’t already been said in hushed tones whenever she’s not around? I could say that she is an accomplished singer/songwriter, as a solo act or in one of many bands. I could say she is as comfortable playing indie/pop as she is generating noise-core. And I could also say she is truly one of the most supportive people I’ve ever known in my life. But that would be a bit much and sound like ass-kissing, so I won’t say any of those things.
It really was a lit of chaotic fun to have Jen in the studio with us again. SHE was particularly excited to know that we were breaking in our newest intern on this episode. That’s right – RaggMopp is out of school and able to stay out late enough to get to be our slave work for a great education in podcast production. (For free.) She doesn’t get to say much – but know that she is there getting us pens and coffee at a moment’s notice.
Scaffidi will be making some noise up at Canvas Cafe, with a solo set at 1pm on Friday 06/25. Check out the Worst Little Grid below or on Instagram (or even on Twitter) for more shows in the coming week. Don’t see your show? Let us know on any social media or send the info to at our Grid email!

Raksha Paksha – Their Quirks Have Quirks – S7 E7
Mother/daughter team…. hey! Don’t go blue. I certainly wasn’t.
Worst Little Podcast S7 E6 – Download Link
But it’s true! Carson City’s own dynamic musical duo, Raksha Paksha, took time out of their busy, busy social calendars to make time for little ol’ us. Raksha Paksha is a piano/drum combo comprised of Shaolin (vox/keys) and Carolyn (vox/drums) Gates. Carolyn, you may remember from Blunderbusst and Betty Rocker, is a powerhouse of a musician herself – so powerful that all of her children are extremely talented musicians in their own right. So, lets double down on some Gates-ness greatness.
While they are fairly new to the scene, Raksha Paksha already has quite the following from all sides of the musical continuum. They are going to be playing at a venue near you, very soon – but you gotta listen to the show to find out the details!!!
Speaking of shows, tomorrow night there are a lot of them! St Patricks day! We would be so humbly appreciative if you joined Nick and The Rev down at Davidson’s Distillery for some St. Pats Shenanigans and Sham-ROCK! One Ton Dually is playing with Reno We Have A Problem, Slutzville and Chadillac. Should be the best time you won’t remember all year.
Thanks for listening!
Betty Rocker: Cookin’ Up Awesome – S2 E39

We took a week off last week in light of the national tragedy – too many voices yelling in your ear. But here we are, back on schedule with:

BETTY ROCKER!!
We kept off the interwebz last week, given the national tragedy and a small personal tragedy we talk about on the show this week (hint: Rev. Rory can not use the word ‘gainfully’ at this time). While the announcements on the show are as dated as say, last week’s episode, the music of Betty Rocker never gets stale!!! Carsonite trio of power rockers, Carolyn Gates (bass), Rick Charles (drum) and Betty “Carla” Rocker (git) made the trip up to Reno to hang with us at the old smelly studio.
While they’ve only been playing for less than a year, Betty Rocker has quickly developed a following around their tough, tight sound. Gates, you may remember, is also the drummer for Blunderbusst, another one of our favorite Carson bands. We’re kind of having an amazing invasion of great music from the relative isolation of our state capitol. There might not be much of a scene for entertainment down there, but they are breeding performers like bunnies on a ranch!
Oh. It’s also Intern Spencer’s last show with us; it’s also his first show running the whole thing. SO any awkward or technical difficulties (like that time the power was out for 2 hours) is totally his fault. If this show sucks, it’s his fault. Rory says “yea, no” too much? It’s his fault. Your coffee doesn’t taste right? His fault. I hope we’ve all learned something from this experience.
Keep your ears posted for Betty Rocker shows in the next little while.
Thanks for listening!

Worst Little Podcast – Episode 027
Don’t drive listening to DJ O Gnosis!!! But first, some deathmetal.
We’ve got a little different show for you all this week – lots of new stuff and a quieter. gentler podcast . Carson Cessna awkwardly hangs out with us – YAY!! a return of the Awkward Silence game!! Nick and Rory did very little show prep – and it shows! HA! Seriously though, super busy week with lots of stuff, like Rory’s failed Date Night with the wifey and Nick still looking for a job.
Speaking of jobs, Chewie is back out workin’ the mines, so doesn’t join us this week, but we hope to have him back before Burning Man. (Stay tuned for next weeks Burning Man Spectaculare!!! Or as we like to call it, ‘The Spectacular BM”!)
The other big highlights of this show include some Italian Circumcision Rick’s Clips!!! He unearths some really revealing early samples of the Notorious R.A.D. as well as debuts some new ones. Plus – our very first commercial! One we made ourselves for Stingray Tattoo, so check THAT shit out.
Thanks for listening.
