We’re halfway through our Women’s March and this week we’re joined by our friend and local folk rock hero Kat Heart! We were going to have one of her bands (Sierra Sirens, Kat Heart and the Business) on but the stars just didn’t align for that. Not to worry, Kat packed up her pedal board full of amazing textures, loops and even a pedal for her old school landline telephone microphone and headed right on over to the Dogwater Studios.
We were delighted by her one woman musical menagerie.
We seem to catch up with Kat every other year, so it’s been amazing to see the commitment, growth and development of her unique psychedelic soundscapes and soulful expressions. Her voice is sometimes soft and gentle and others gritty and powerful. Always interesting and always entertaining. One of Reno’s great ladies making music and memorable performances. As summer winds down, our guests this week are still heating things up with their sexy, sexy music. Kat Heart’s Fresh Hot Mess brings it good. A foursome congealed out of dreams and desire, they keep a busy schedule in different configurations. (This sounds sexual, but it totally is not)
This is a sexy sexy band, though – and I mean the music AND the people. We have a great time talking with them, talking shit about booking shows, how they all met and how The Saxman helped put this together.
