Here it is, for your enjoyment – a clip show! Featuring much of the cast of The Worst Little Podcast, past and present, in the last 200 episodes and some repeat offenders drinking copious amounts of beer and whiskey! In studio we have, your hosts, Thee Reverend Rory Dowd, Mr. Nick Ramirez, Dogwater Dick and Josh Martin, along with our small horde of guests that include Reno musicians and friends of the show: Spencer Kilpatrick, Mikie Haley, Felix Danger, Myke Read, Rashidul Kader, Zac Curtis, Evan Humphries and a Mystery Guest!
There’s clips from shows going back to the first season and as recently as this 5th one. There are … a lot. We made Rick play jukebox. He’s the only one who wasn’t inebriated and could take notes. There’s a lot of talking and conversation stepping, some rudeness, some love, you take the good, you take the bad, and there you have – AH! Who’s kidding, there’s nothing good about this show. Except the music. Always the Reno music.

The Worst Little Podcast – S5 E25 – Season 5 Episode 25
As the 199th episode of The Worst Little Podcast in the World, this show marks the end of a chapter, and so! we return to the beginning. New half-assed and not very well planned ideas are the name of the game! Listen in for Nick’s explanation partway through the show. See if you can spot it! Our guests this week are John and John, a They Might Be Giants cover band from Reno NV that has played exactly one show prior to this recording.
John and John is a labor of love (mostly your ears’ labor and their love of torture) brought to you by John Pat (Pat Rhea) and John Rory (Thee Reverend Rory Dowd). As a duo they have delighted at least a dozen people this year, not including the cast of this show. It’s a side project they haven’t been actually working on for very long at all, but what they lack in experience they make up for in sheer A-for-effort…ness.
You can catch John and John next at the Great Basin Geeks Con (GBGCon) at Reno Town Mall this October! It will be very exciting and far more practiced. And you should really listen to the whole show this time, especially the very very end card. Chekkit out. Rory’s performance on bass is uh-mazing.
Please join us next week for our 200th episode. Yes, seriously – don’t read me with that look on your face. We will be having a long overdue true shit-show – lots of guests and no scheduled music. The Worst Little Podcast – 2015 03 02
I am so conflicted about this episode!!!! First, we have the cast from “Tooth of Crime” on, which is so awesome; second, Jamie hosted the show in its entirety, which is good and bad (good that she can handle it, bat that my job is at stake now); and finally – it’s the last episode ever from beautiful suburban Sparks! What is this world coming to?!?!
“Tooth of Crime” is a play written, and then later re-written, by Sam Sheppard. It involves live music, cars and fire. It is dangerous theater. It is a play that has not always been well received. It is a play that may have never been done correctly, even when directed by the author. A small group of actors from Reno believe that they can pull it off like no one has.
Director Dave Richards brings most of his cast and the band to the studio with him to talk about the upcoming performances. He is joined by Lew Zaumeyer (Hoss), Jill Marlene (Becky Lou), Scott Dundas (Chaser), Andy Luna (Crow), Nick Ramirez (Meera), Rory Dowd (Rudio Ran) from the cast and also Jeff Done, Pat Mayfield, Dave Masud and Chris Fox from the Reno “Tooth of Crime” band. For a last session, we crammed so many people in that the whole band AND Reverend Rory had to sit in the living room! That’s why Jamie got to host the show! (I knew you were wondering)

Greetings, fellow travelers!! I hope your seat belts are on, because we’re going on a field trip! Johnny Rolling, Erik Grubbs, Kieran Clark and Henry Lindsay from Love Like Wes put in some time during this last summer of Dogwater. All Battle-Born and Reno raised, they come in with their unique charm and songs about girls and make Reverend Rory feel old as dirt bring us up to speed on themselves. First of all, none of the members of Love Like Wes are actually named Wes, although he is a real person. While we typically avoid such trite questions, this one was begging to be asked. Find out the store during the second segment. Or is it the third?
Love Like Wes is fun, pop rock from Reno Nevada. They’ve been playing around for a few years now and are building a steadily growing following, especially know that they have ‘hair down there’ and can get into bars. All kidding aside, they are fantastic musicians and came to play on the show. And they help us bring to you another WLP exclusive! Starring inour first ever Father/Son connection, bass player Henry Lindsey is the son of none other than Bruce “The Bruce” Lindsey, friend and former gust of the show.
We would also like to take a second to congratulate the cast and crew of Nowhere Nevada for being awarded the title of “Best Feature” at the SF Global Film Festival in San Jose last weekend. That’s right, they got the ‘Best in Show’ award at the event they’ve been working so hard for!! We’ve been supporting them and invested in the project for about two years now, so it’s fantastic for Nick Ramirez, Brian Sutherland, Juli Green, Dave Richards, Jef Derderian, Liz Cole, Felix Danger, Max Volume, Andy Luna, Cori Lynne, Tom Plunkett, Xtevion, Rick Spagnola, Tom Gordon and all the rest of the crew get their deserved accolades. OMG This was such an awesome show. Good good GOOD friends of the Show, Sit Kitty Sit, drove up to Reno from the Bay Area just to be on the podcast. Kat Downs Gaudette and Mike Thompson are a killer two-piece band that will blow your mind. They started playing shows up here in Reno about a year ago and fell in love with the audiences and venues of our fine city. You can’t keep them away now!
Sit Kitty Sit is keyboard, drums and phenomenal singing. A truly unique act they can and have played with everyone from solo guitarists to full on metal hardcore bands. They first played up here with Lucas Young, a previous guest on the show and great guy who just HAPPENED to also stop by the studio this week to say ‘Hi!’. Sit Kitty Sit ended up staying at Dogwater Studios that weekend and Rick and Kat and Mike all fell in musical love. Since then, they’ve remained in contact with us and played a few more shows in the Sierras. What you get today is just a little taste of their amazing live show. Before I sign off, I just want to remind everyone of the big Nowhere Nevada show at Jub Jub’s this Friday, August 8. Welcome once again! We’re happy to welcome back to the studio some of the team who worked on Reno’s own movie Nowhere Nevada. Executive Producer Brian Sutherland and the dandy tuna himself, actor Andy Luna (Overload) stop in to let us know the current status of our favorite movie! Nowhere Nevada has been doing well, already having taken a 2nd place prize for Crime dramas in an Ohio film festival.
We play a bunch of songs from the soundtrack and talk a lot of shit this week, with the conversation ranging about wherever our hearts and minds took us. The quiz with Andy Luna is particularly fun – he came to play and did well! I can’t even begin to tell you what we talked about, mainly because I forgot to take notes. We touched on a lot, but most importantly, the Nowhere Nevada fundraiser on 8/8 to help the production team get to the big film festival in SF later this month.
I don’t have much for you this week, except to thank Andy Luna and Brian Sutherland for stopping in, and to wish them, Nick and all the rest of the production team who is going down a lot of broken legs.

Holy crap, it’s hot as fuck in Reno, despite the fairly unprecedented 4 days of serious rain in a row. Hope you all are keepin’ cool and pulling a Saturday Night Fever! Whoo! In Studio this week, we have Bill McKean and Zeke Griffin from Strange on the Range, a Reno blues/Americana/Blurgrass BLUEgrass band. No. Hell with It – They are Blurgrass. Made that shit up just now I did. Bill plays guitar and Zeke plays Mandilins. Actually, he freaking makes the suckers. Custom and cool and – damn!
Strange on the Range is a featured act at The Morris Burner Hotel’s Reno Folk Festival, happening this weekend as a part of Artown. If you haven’t been to a show at the Morris yet, you are missing out on a whole lot of what’s happening in the Reno art and performance worlds. Three days of folk music, a trip backwards in time, covering current era, the 60s, and traditional roots of folk music, as a tribute to Pete Seeger, who died earlier this year.
Jill Marlene, event organizer, also joins us partway through the episode and joins the guys on a couple songs. It’s , once again, a fun episode, but it got hot in the studio. It’s hot now. I’m done.

The Worst Little Podcast – S4 E20 It’s another fine week in the Biggest Little and I hope you’re out enjoying the fantastic weather! This week we are very happy to welcome Chari Boom Brap into the studio. Chari is one of the movers and shakers in the Reno spoken word and hip hop circles. If you don’t already know her name, you should, because she makes it happen. Featured prominently as the front woman for Knowledge Lives Forever for the past few years, Chari brings tracks from her own new solo project, Download This, on the show with us. Her words run deep.
Chari Boom Brap is as nice as she is hardworking as she is deep thinking. Fortunately, all of her hard work has not gone unnoticed. Chari is happy to announce that this week she is the first rapper to ever be awarded an Artist’s Fellowship from the Nevada Arts Council. This is not small accomplishment and you know she faced some steep competition to be honored with this award. We’re happy to congratulate her on this and you should too. Chari Boom Brap is a hot commodity and has a lot of Reno pride – hopefully some of us will get to ride her coattails one day.
We would also like to congratulate Nate the Intern. He has been promoted to Nathan the Production Assistant! Rick for one looks forward to his continuing work behind the scenes here at WLP. But what would our show be without an intern and whipping boy?? We bring you the next in a long line of losers, JB the Intern!!! JB had a rocky start, batting about .500 in task accomplishments. Rock and roll hoochie koo all over your gabba gabba hey! Rigorous Proof, early guests of the show, come back this week and kick the roof off, reminding us why they’re still a successful rock band in Reno. Johnny Harpo, Adam Landis, Jesse Gaddis and Wes Forester rejoin us in the studio.
The Worst Little Podcast in the World would like to take this time to officially endorse Bob and Mike Grimm for Co-Mayors of Reno. Although they didn’t make it in the free for all primary (finishing with -3 votes), they still remain viable write-in candidates with a platform, WLP can really stand on.
In case you’ve missed them, Rigorous Proof is a 4 piece rock funk band here in the Washoe County. Having gone through some name and lineup changes in the past four years, they are back together as the original band with a whole new set of songs, polished to a sharp keen. Having laid low for a while, they’ve been writing and recording a new album, due out later this year. This episode teases some of their new songs.

Hey dudes and dudettes! I hope you’re ready for a great show! We have a brand new band on the show. Introducing: THE GRIMTONES! Michelle Belle and Carter Stellon, formerly of Scarlet Presence, come into the studio to show off their shiny new songs and impress us with how growed up they are! Seriously, these kids are sick talented. I AM JEALOUS OF THEM!!!!!
Unfortunately, Rev. Rory was unable to make it to the show (AGAIN!) so Nick really prepared this time and captained a great show this week. I can’t wait to actually listen to it! Chewie, of course, is still in the house and moved up a notch. Dogwater Dick and Nate the Intern are alsu, as usual, dismissed to Studio B, here at Dogwater Studios. But I know for a fact that Dick loves recording with these two, so I’m sure he didn’t mind just listening to The Grimtones.
At any rate, I’m going to stop blogging and get to listening to the show while I prep for my own shows this weekend.
