Reno computer fix
Spike McGuire: Bromancing the Stoner – S2 E28
It’s that time of year again – Dust Season. Welcome back, Burners.
We were supposed to have this new kick-ass band for you this week, but they’ve already lost a drummer, so instead we just got a lead singer: Mr. Spike McGuire! Spike’s been on the show before and is a busy man around town. He heads up the monthly Loud As Folk series at The Alley in Sparks and is generally playing music somewhere on any given week. He regales us with some tales of Chicago, music, anarchy and sex bets. That’s right sex bets. Just ask Aric Shapiro! (who is a huge… pimp, btw, ladies). Spike also brought along a friend of his, a bona-fide actor from LA that we like to call Hollywood Brad!
At first, it seemed as if the show was a little weak and directionless (Rory hadn’t been drinking much yet). But once Hollywood Brad got a 6-pack under his 6-pack, the stories started rolling on ot. One of the LONGEST Worst Little Quizzes ever ebcause of that. But it’s all good – a really good quiz. You can hear them jockeying for positions in Rick’s bed . Naughty boys. Rory also pans a touring act that he caught next week and Nick of course has details about a bunch of shows he’s paying in. What is this? Some kind of personal aggrandizement center? Oh, wait…
Anyway, thanks for listening!
Allen Wrench and Socket – S2 E25
Nothing hotter than the Sofa King Miserable Heat Wave, amiright?
Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – S2 E24
Wasn’t sure what to expect when I booked Paul Allen on the show this week. I mean, I knew he was a good musician and quirky lyricist – I liked that about him – but, the dude, like, only ever plays in living rooms and porches, right?!?! I wasn’t sure if Paulie was up to it, frankly. He might have frozen up or even peed a little in the studio. Then Rick would have had to rub his nose in it, whilst bellowing, “NOOO!!!!” (Yeah, I just said “whilst”. Is there a problem? (Other than my blatant aggression and latent personality split?)) I am happy to say though, Paul came through and really knocked our socks off. He only froze up during the Worst Little Quiz, but still got a respectable score and beat himself silly.
Lots of great stuff happened in Reno, lots of great stuff coming up – I think we talked about a lot of it during the show. I’m pretty sure we did, but it’s kind of a blur – and I was sober this week! The Notorious R.A.D. is back in Reno and will be cutting up some new drops in the studio soon (that means to record funny things, it is NOT a euphemism for drug use – what do you think we are, Californians?). We had a lot of fun on this episode, and only got a little bit gross. That happens in our new segment – Dogwater Dick’s Disgisting Definitions. It’s really, well, not good, but funny as hell.
Please don’t forget to come out and see the live show! What live show? The Worst Little Open Mic in Reno, that live show! Every Monday, Nick Chewie and Rev. Rory will be down at ye olde Jub Jub’s Thirst Parlor hosting the open mic. We want to see new faces, people jamming, people bringing their new songs, new bands, parts of old bands – we even have a drum kit and bass rig set up every week for anyone to come down and borrow. We’ve had a great couple weeks so far, and want to keep it up. Even if you can’t come every week, please still stop by every once in a while. (NEW BANDS: this is really kindof optimal exposure and a chance to play for a live audience; don’t be dumb.)
Anyways, thanks for listening!

Offending Jeff Done – S2 E24
The Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – S2 E23
No really – we totally offended him on this episode!
So, I’m a little drunk and blazed as I write this. More so than usual. I kinda forgot what day it was and that I needed to put this up – kinda lost track with visiting the hospital and stuff. On that note, thank you Reno for being such a kick ass town! We have raised over $4,000 for Kelly Proud while she is laid up in the ICU. Fuck your mystery ailment, Stitch! We miss you!
Anyway, I would like to proudly announce that in this episode we actually offend Jeff Done. Listen for it! He even says so. We take a little journey back through his musical career, From ‘Pennies’ to ‘Tiny Private Dancer’, which is featured in the upcoming Reno movie, Nowhere Nevada. Jeff might come off like a slobbering bulldog, but he is a pretty damn good songwriter, singer and lyricist. Who’da thunk that this punk Reno thug would keep being this talented!?! During the podcast we talk a bunch about Ty Fritzsching, former lead guitar for Stevedave; the Stevedave, Dump Your Boyfriends and Dale Kellams show over the weekend; and a whole lot of other mildly offensive things. We learn a lot of revealing things about Jeff an Lydia during the Worst Little Quiz when the gloves come off!
We were actually supposed to have all of Stevedave on the show, but everybody forgot, so we just got Jeff… OK… So really, I’m drunk and just want to get this done. lots of cool stuff this weekend – listen and find out, bitches!
Thanks for Listening!
Nick’s Mom Should Not Listen to To this Episode -S2 E19
The Worst Little Podcast -This is the Download Link- S2 E17
In studio this week is Cecil McCumber, a pretty damn talented musician who has been working the trenches of the music scene in Reno for a few years now. He must be doing something wrong though, otherwise, how did he end up on this show? He is a lot of fun to talk to – listen for the exact moment that he turns on Nick like the rest of us. He’s not a bad candidate to replace Chewie… you know, when he’s out of town, not permanent or anything. Cecil has some upcoming shows for you to check out, but you’ll have to listen in for the dates and locations.
Also with us this week is the … unique… talent that is jess Cherrybear of Cherrybear records. She decided to crash the podcast and … knit the wole time, when she wasn’t making fun of the Rev. What else did we talk about – um, degrees, kids and school, picklebacks, the kanes, the new stage at Sheas, the open Mic at Strega on Sundays, dead Alphabet, disappointing pancakes, and… uh, Nick’s mom. Things we fogot to talk about were Nada Dada, the first BBDD bout of the year and Reno block party. RBP needs volunteers for the day of the event. If you want to help contact Guerilla Productions or Rory or Glitterdome Presents.
Thanks for listening!!
(Un)Discovered 2012 Recap – S2 E18
The Worst Little Podcast – 2012 06 04
No show = Our Show!
Due to a communication crisis, or guests were not able to make it to the studio this week. Not sure if they even knew to be here. If you’re a regular show go-er in Reno, listen close and see if you can pick up what we’re puttin’ down. It’s REALLY subtle.
Fortunately, though, it gave us the opportunity to just talk and talk and talk about the (Un)Discovered 2012 show last weekend. It was a blast and that’s about all I’ll say here – we talk way too much about it during the episode. It also gave Chewie the opportunity to come through like he always does with some archival recordings of some questionable great Reno bands from yesteryear. We have recordings of The Princes of Pork; Dirty Steve; Mike, Tyson and Tommy; and the big bad Brian Knopf! They’ll all kick you in the teeth and send you running home to your bronies.
Also, Justan Hoover joins us in studio to not really talk much at all. He was kind of an actually boring guest… until we got to the quiz. Justan really brought it when it came to a couple of the quiz questions, beating off out Chewie by a slim margin. We also got our occasional weekly update from The Vampirates who are on their whirlwind U.S. tour. They played at a place called the Murder Basement. It’s not a club. It’s really some punk basement. With a name. About murder. I wish I was as cool as Dave Masud.
We had a lot of fun. Even if it was just rehashing things we did 48 hours earlier and listening to the music of the 90s. Not sure if you will (yes I am… pshhhht… this show is always awesome!), but there are a lot of stories from the weekend that are pretty fucked up at the least. Love ya, Felix! Love ya, DaKodiak! BIG BIG THANKS to the sound crew and the food crew and the cleanup crew and the musicians and everyone that came out…. but especially THE SOUND AND FOOD CREWS!!!!
Thanks for listening!
Reno We Have A Primadonna – S2 E17
Worst Little Podcast — Download Link– S2 E15
The summer is really starting to fill up!
Reno we have a problem, and they are called Reno We Have A Problem. These punk rock homophobes douchebags think that they can just come into our studio and make a bunch of jokes and drink our beer and be funny and fun to hang out with. Well, fuck them! We’re gonna record them playing acoustic punk for the first time and make it sound really really shitty! Oh, wait … was that my outside voice? I mean… they are… really… cool guys and … their music is… stellarly mediocre. Truly, stellarly…
Seriously though, Chris Hart, Foo Phlegm, Logan Bongiovanni and Bobby Laws are all righteous motherfuckers. They lay down some of their dirtiest, crassest most foulmouthed songs on the acoustic trip. This episode is more NSFW than most. I’m not kidding. I dare you to play the first two songs in your office lobby. It’ll be hiLARious!
In other news, the guys are all super busy keeping up with all the summer festivals, like the great (Un)Discovered 2012 show happening in 2 days!!!! AT the Dogwater Studios!!!!! Where you can come by and meet most of us in our natural setting – along with a bunch of the best new acts in Reno this year!!! Oh, and Rory is playing guitar for half an hour… or so we think. It should be interesting….
Also coming up soon is the Reno Block Party 2012 at the end of June. Please check out THIS LINK if you are interest in being involved – we are still looking for vendors and artists to fill up our booth space and Artist’s Village as well as volunteers. It is bigger and badder than ever and is really going to showcase the arts community and Burner culture that is making Reno a destination for tourists and working artists alike.
Thanks for listening!
Afterglow – S2 E16
The Worst Little Podcast ->Download Link<- S02 E14
Sometimes, the guests really bring it and we can just sit back and laugh.
After a long and exhausting conversation about Marianarchy 2012 Mallory Mishler joins us in studio to play some songs and talk about her upcoming exhibit at the Reno Art Works. She is a triple threat – one of the top realism artists in town, a skilled musician and a fucking awesome lyricist! Great – next thing you know she’s gonna have a podcast or something. Her show, “Stubborn Works – Something From the Deep ‘It’s a Black Thing'”, will open sometime in the first week of June and the closing reception is going to be on Sunday June 28th.
We also have a great phone call from Reno based comedian, Lizzie Keith. She was the host of the Reno Tahoe Comedy Semifinals last week and is a pretty active performer and aerobics instuctor. We think she’s hot. She says she’s a hot lesbian, but we’ll have to get her in studio sometime to verify… if y’all don’t mind. Really though, she was funny right out the gate. I think we have maybe made a new friend – a contender for the coveted third chair of Chewie?
Also in studio with us were the artistic and musical talents of Aric Shapiro and Pan from Reno Art Works and Weapons of Mass Creation. We’ll have WMC on the show a little later in the summer, but today they were here to talk about RAW. It is a great artists’ space on Dickerson Row, the unofficial home of Reno’s visual art community. RAW however embraces all artists, from performers and writers to more traditional definitions like painters and sculptors. RAW hosts a weekly community art night – fun for the family and you might just pick up a new skill or simply learn a trick or two. All kinds of art are open for exploration! Lots of fun.
Other Topics This Week: Why Elephant Rifle hates the Reverend Rory now, divorce (sorta), the ‘other’ RAW and hot girls belching.
At any rate – thanks for listening, o constant listener!

Welcome to the start of your summer season, Reno!
As I mentioned in last week’s post, Jess Blaze, local promoter and true believer, passed away in her sleep. We start the show with an audio tribute to Jess; we humbly share these memories of a woman we all loved very much. She was also a big part of …..
That’s right! After months and months of teasing it out – IT’S REALLY HERE!!! MARIANARCHY 2012!!!!!!! Friday May 18 and Saturday May 19!!!
It’s one hell of a line up this year, with the reunions of Phat Couch and Gunshot Licker on Friday and Saturday nights, respectively. There’s a raffle and silent auction, Happy-Hour Potluck, BBQ. Admission is whatever you can donate to the cause. This year, the proceeds will go to benefit the familes of Rev. Gary Setzer and Jess Blaze (who are secretly pissed that they’re missing this show, or so I’m told). The events will be emceed by yours truly, Reverend Rory. Come see me turn into Jerry Lewis over a 48 hour period!!!
Seriously, though – this is probably my favorite event in Reno every year. You should really check it out. Marianarchy is at the cultural heart of Reno and Ground Zero for a lot of the love and camraderie in the Reno music and sart scenes. It is really something special and you should check it out.
Also on the show this week is Reno City Councilman and Sparks-core native, Dave Aiazzi. Dave is a really good friend of Nick’s and a big supporter of our simmering arts scene here in Reno. He also knows how to take a joke (Thanks in advance for not getting a cease and desist on the picture, Dave). Irma Geddon jumps into the fray with some insightful questions about how people can get things done with the city, what happened to the Occupy Moana thing, and what is up with that airline food? For his part, Dave does not particularly care for the airline chicken plate. I think Dave had something he wanted to talk about, but we all kept badgering him with questions and cutting to the music. It was probably important.
Maybe next time. Ha?
At any rate – Come to MARIANARCHY 2012 at JUB JUB’S THIRST PARLOR! MAY 18 AND 19!!!!

Is it just me or is 2012 a little fucked?
Todd Ballowe joins us this week on the show! Todd is one hell of a musician. He doesn’t just play his guitar, he manhandles it! Slapping it and choking it enough to make a small symphony come out. But Todd loves his guitar. He always comes back to stroke it and he didn’t really mean it, baby. Todd is also a powerhouse of activity on the Reno show circuit. Coming up here, you can catch him on 5/15 at Tuesday’s Taste of Reno at Java Jungle, or on 5/18 at Swill.
We are also joined by the VERY lovely Elsie Marie. She joins us in the third chair while Chewie is gone. I can tell you that I already MUCH prefer looking at her for 90 minutes than Chewie. She also smells a lot nicer. Elsie is also taking Reno by storm as a model and photographer this year. Check out her work at http://www.cupcakescanon.com/.
Reno has suffered a huge loss this week. Jessica “Blaze” Smith passed away on Tuesday in her sleep. Jess was a good friend to everyone on the show and a guest a couple of times last year – most notably a member of the cast in the Memorial Day Meltdown and And This is Why You Shouldn’t Drink on the Radio. She was a local promoter and true believer. She also gave great hugs. Jess Blaze was a do-er, always backing up her talk with a tight game. She was a founding member of Guerrilla Productions and a driving force behind the Reno Block Party. She was always down for fun. Jess Blaze was an integral and dynamic part of the Reno music scene and entertainment industry. She will be missed, but it’s now our job to carry what she taught us into the future. Let’s make this a kick ass summer. Go out and see a show. We love you, Jess.
There will be a wake for her at Jub Jub’s Thirst Parlor this Saturday, 5/12.
Thanks for Listening.
