Lyric Morrow fronts The Griefs, her band with her dad, Jeremy Morrow on drums and her boyfriend Will Shamberger on guitar. Yep, that Will Shamberger from the Will Shamberger band out of Fallon. Jeremy was a guest with his band Merkin way back in season one! He has been on a couple other times as well.

Fresh and new to the scene, The Griefs are a little poppy but raw and rocking with indie-riot grrrl vibes. Sometimes surfy and sometimes heavy and kind of White Stripesish, but with cool female vocals. Sometimes Will’s guitar sounds like Joey Santiago from the Pixies. Which is rad. Jeremy keeps the beat interesting, tight and moving. Also rad. The Griefs are a cool rock group with a subtle angst and artful dynamics. Retro and modern in the same breath.

Jeremy

They’ve been busy playing shows this year, starting from a stage in an apple orchard in Fallon to a recent Cornell University rooftop set in New York. They’ve also been recording an album and will be playing their fifth show ever opening the night for Wolfgang from Pussy Velour’s all ages Halloween birthday bash at Midnight Coffee Roasters, Friday October 25th with a bunch of killer bands. Doors at 5:30 and the Griefs at 6pm sharp!

The next night, Saturday October 26, next week’s worst little guests, the Giltter Bats, are playing a Halloween costume party in the Cellar at Alturas with The Electric, Donkey Jaw and Hired Fun! It’s going to be a great weekend of kooky spooky oooky entertainment in the BLC.

We had a great time catching up with one of the coolest new bands we’ve had on this season. Thanks for making the trek from Fallon to be with us Griefs and thank you for being with us dear friends and worst little listeners. Life is short and we love you. Carve a pumpkin!

Drummer and dad Clay, bassist and buddy, Miles and singer songwriter guitarist Anabelle, all packed up the van in Fallon and headed west to Reno and the Dogwater Studios for an another great WLP episode. This indie pop outfit was born out of Anabelle’s acoustic folk solo act that she started a mere four years ago at 12 years old.

Anabelle & the Desert Scrubs

This young lady has a beautiful voice, great tunes with both a seasoned presence and youthful exuberance. She’s driven. Her dad is her drummer, chaperone and driver. He’s super proud of his daughter and supports her dreams.

Anabelle

Anabelle’s homie Miles is new to the band and is still working out the kinks, but Clay assured him he is the man for the job.

We get the backstory, a few songs and a PG13 quiz.

They are playing this weekend’s Cantaloupe Festival in Fallon, Friday from 5:30-7pm. You can find them on Facebook and Instagram.

For a great up and coming songbird checkout Anabelle and the Desert Scrubs.

We hope you have a rocking week!

Life is short and we love you. Thanks for listening.

This week we have one of the hardest working bands in Northern Nevada, The Will Shamberger Band!

Will!

Straight out of Fallon, this rock quartet , who we (WLP) haven’t seen in 11 months, has been busy delivering their songs to the people. Saving theaters, recording albums and melting faces. Seriously, their lead guitarist Charlie is becoming a well known shredder. He’s virtuoso good. When he’s not playing it’s all he thinks about and it shows.

Charlie Gomes, intently staring at his wood grain electric guitar as he shreds with it.
Charlie!

Fronted by the charismatic and funny Will, who’s voice has a sweet, sincere strong tone, combined with his killer songwriting and guitar work, Charlie’s soaring lead and the band’s solid rhythm section, (Jesse on fretless bass and Stone on the kit) TWSB create a psychedelic grungy funk rock sound for songs with commercial radio sensibilities. It’s hard to pigeonhole them. They’re not trendy or edgy. They’re a good time rock and roll band. Familiar and unique.

Jesse Morrow singing while playing his fretless bass, eyes closed.
Jesse!

They’ve just finished their new recording with Dog Water Dick and can’t wait for you all to hear it. Press play for all the details and where you can catch them next!

Stone Seuss, smiling with a busy mustache from behind a drumset and cymbals.
Stone!

Life is short and we love you! Thanks for listening.
