S14E19 WITTIKKA- Dark Wavers
We are back with a brand new episode featuring dark wave goth vibers WITTIKKA.
This trio consists of Daniel on guitar Dave on drums and computer programs, and James on bass and vocals. Dave points out that James is the visionary front man providing lyrics as well. James insists it’s a group effort.

Their sound feels like early goth mixed with overdriven guitars, kind of like Swans. James and Daniel are brothers and found Dave through the magic of Craigslist. They’re a great match.
You can catch Wittikka with goth DJ Xenobia, Glitter Bats and L. A.’s AL1CE playing the Cellar Stage at Alturas July 20.

Kadillac Kim gives you the weekends hot shows and we welcome back for an exclusive 3-week engagement, ladies and gentlemen, Thee Reverend Rory Dowd! His band with Nick, One Ton Dually are playing TONIGHT with the Scoffs from Seattle and Riot Radio from Sac at the Cellar. We hope to see you there!

Life is short and we love you.
Thanks for listening.

This week we’re celebrating Dads! Nicks dad Nick and Nicks grown kid Quinn Ramirez, joined by KOZZ’s star DJ, Max Volume (Glenn Bailey) and his son, our friend Johnny Bailey of the ripping rock group Rigorous Proof shoot the shit about rock musicians, cars, podcasts, family upbringing and of course what being a dad means.

We are graced with some awesome live songs via Johnny and his slick new guitar. Johnny has such a cool voice and bleeds rock & roll. Even on an acoustic.

It was a great hangout, full of laughs and love.
If you’re lucky enough to be able to, call your dad, see each other, whatever you can do. Have a happy Father’s Day this weekend. Congratulations to the grads! Thank you to the dads! Life is short and we love you!
#552 S14E17 Dennis McDonald: DJ DMac and the State of the Cellar
We had our friend Dennis McDonald on last year, where he came on the show and played us tracks from 6 of his favorite bands who have graced the Cellar Stage at Alturas bar on 4th street, Dennis’ dream job here in the biggest little city. The episode was a hit, and some listeners wanted more shows like that. Well, here you go.

Nick gives us the highlights from his weekend gig with Roxxy Collie playing an outdoor show in Fallon.
Kadillac Kim gives us the lowdown on the Reno Punk Rock Flea Market’s upcoming Punk Rock Pride event. Dogwater Dick shares his weekend with Lincoln Skinz in the studio and Chewbacca keeps it real and funny and real funny.

So, turn it up, kick back and take a historical musical journey through the sounds of the Cellar with a pillar of the Reno music scene and remember folks, life is short, and we love you! Thanks for listening.
S14E16: KNVC 95.1 FM: On The Air With Funk & Houk
95.1 FM KNVC is community radio programmed for the people by the people, headed up by Steve Funk and Will Houk who, much to our pleasure and invite, dropped by the Dogwater Studios to give us the four one one on what’s happening with their totally rad homegrown radio station in Carson City.

For one thing Will is creating
a local music show and KNVC wants your local music. Listen in for how to do that.
We talk about DJs, history and bringing people together with music

Steve and Will give us a live performance each, and we get a track from our buddy Liam Kyle Cahill as well as a couple from the late local musical wiz Colin Ross.
It’s a great conversation with real live radio folk who consider it an art form. As do we.

Grass roots local community radio is having a revival all across the country and we’re definitely here for it. So do yourself a favor, check it out, consider getting involved and remember, life is short and we love you. Thanks for listening.

#550 S14E15 Dave Berry: Long Road Driven
This week for our 550th episode, we have a personal hero of ours, family man, talented athlete, songwriter and brilliant guitarist Dave Berry of the well known rocking funk outfit Jelly Bread.

We first talked with him way back in the first season of the podcast, 2011, towards the end of his then band PufferBilly.
He then declared he was quitting his day job and going for full time musician, and taking his shot with powerhouse drummer Cliff Porter and Dave’s sister Jackie who sang with him in PufferBilly.

Well he did it.
Jelly Bread played well over 200 shows a year for several years and established themselves as a tight professional level, funky jam band that never disappoints.
But after the pandemic, tour fatigue, band personnel changes and a family crisis, Dave was led to work on a solo album with his sister. The results delivering beautiful blood harmonies and genuine human emotion. Musically and lyrically.

We get the heart wrenching details and listen to a handful of sweet, soulful tracks as well as a couple live acoustic songs in the studio.
Dave’s stories were so vivid, interesting and relatable that we couldn’t find time for the quiz.
Enjoy a real open, honest and touching episode with a real Reno rocker done good.
Thanks for sharing with us Dave.

Life is short and we love you.
Thanks for listening.
#549 S14E14 Greybush- Tyler Goes To Knob Noster
This week we have a great zoom chat with Tyler Edwards from the NorCal metal group Greybush.

Tyler says the name is because they’re men of a certain age and the changing colors not unlike the foliage in the fall. This isn’t their first rodeo in the music scene and with age comes experience and twenty twenty hindsight. That being said these heavy metal devotees share their particular brand and can sometimes be found on a bill in the biggest little city with their buds The Latest Fashion, but more often they play in the bay area, Humboldt, Sacramento and beyond when they tour. Tyler gives us the deets on commuting for shows from Missouri, why the new digs and how the band can function from such long distances.

We get several tracks from the new EP A Never Ending Search For Justice, including one dedicated to a member James, who recently left the band but is still a homie.

Tyler is super nice, hella funny, stoney, and a little self deprecating, so yeah, we hit it off.
Chewie and Kadillac Kim give us the weekend hot shows and as per usual with new guests, we play a great round of the worst little quiz.
So laugh with us, crank it up, throw your horns and bang your heads with Greybush. Thanks for being on the show Tyler! Life is short and we love you. Metal!
S14E13-Divine Defecation: Talkin’ Sh!t
Holy shit! This week’s guests hail from one of our musical sister cities, Nevada City California.

With Tony on drums, “Poop”Nick on guitar and demonic vocals and Sage on bass.

Devine Defecation are a tight dirty chunky Cookie Monster, stoner deathcore Heavy Metal thrash band,(I think that covers it) that are not to be poo poo’d! Needless to say they have riffs and a sense of humor, especially the potty variety. Very nice fellows who hauled their shit all the way to Dogwater Studios to hang out and rock for us. I hope they weren’t too pooped for the drive home. Thanks dudes. We loved your caca-funny of sound.

We shoot the shit about the Grass Valley and Sacramento metal scene, small town life and of course, all matters fecal. All kinds of shit. Bullshit, how shit happens, shitty jobs, eating shit figuratively and literally and shitting yourself. You know, our usual verbal diarrhea.
Kim gives us the real shit on what went down at the Reno punk rock flea market .
As is our doody we divinely defecate another worst little quiz that doesn’t go down the toilet.
This episode could have been a real turd but it wasn’t crappy at all. It was filthy, funny, a little juvenile and it rocked. You might even say it was the shit! I’d say possibly our number two episode of the season!
So get out there this weekend and tear shit up with your homies at your favorite venue in the biggest little shitty! Thanks for listening and giving a shit about us. We love you. Poop.
S14E11 Bobby Joe Ebola & the Children MacNuggits: Phoning It In For The Win
MacNuggits: Phoning It In For
Room a zoom Zoom! Kim, Nick and Dogwater Dick were all able to podcast from the comfort of their own phones or computers as did our guest Dan Abbott from the band Bobby Joe Ebola and the Children MacNuggits.
These songs are all different genres mixed, telling detailed epic stories and it’s funny. They remind me of Frank Zappa, Tenacious D and Ween. The way the band plays whatever they want, what the song and story call for, whatever style. Folk, punk, metal, brass section, progressive and harmonies. Performed with precision and highly entertaining.

You can find them at bobbyjoeebola.com and all the platforms. They have a bunch of fantastic videos on YouTube as well. Go check them out.

Dan aces the quiz and
Nick and Kim review the Cover Up show and give you some hot show tips for another jam-packed musical weekend in the biggest little city.
Dick and Dan talk Star Trek and Shatner’s earlier work.

Why not? After all,
we’re the worst little podcast, we’re talking out of our ass!
Thanks for listening.

#542 S14E7 Robin Robinson-Burgled by Katherine Hepburn
After illness and snowstorms, we are back!
Kicking off our annual Women’s March salute to local ladies who make music, we have a blast from the past, singer songwriter Robin Robinson!
Robin and Nick were friends back in the 90’s, attending open mics and local shows at old school Reno venues like the Blue Lamp and the Zephyr.

They reunited at last year’s Marianarchy music festival where Robin played a beautiful set with a dancer performing with her on a few songs throughout. It was enchanting and special.
Not being able to catch up at the event, Nick was stoked Robin could come in and talk for a spell.

We play a fun round of the worst little quiz including close encounters with rock legends. Robin also gets the lowdown on the Nowhere Nevada movie.
It was a sweet, chill, and fun hang with a new old friend. Thanks for sharing your songs with us Mrs. Robinson! And thanks worst little listeners (especially our Patreon members! Patreon.com/worstlittlepodcast) for joining us. Life is short, and we love you.
