Up from the Cellar: Dennis McDonald Picks 6 – S12 E24
This weeks episode is brought to you by The Cellar at Alturas’ live show booker, sound man, public relations director, and a local musicians best friend, Dennis McDonald . He and his son Uriah stopped by ye olde Dogwater Studios to discuss the ins and outs, highs and lows, ups and downs of a ten year run putting on shows of all kinds. It’s a great story about a passionate music man who is in it for all the right reasons.
We hear tracks from local bad-asses Grimedog, Murderock, Machine Gun Vendetta, KANAWHA, The Grimtones, and Elephant Rifle! Each track we hear comes with a great story, often with a personal, and a touching reason behind the pick.
We love doing these showcase episodes and we hope you enjoy hearing them. Visit the Cellar stage at Alturas and say hi to Dennis, the man making it all happen. Thanks for listening!
Mark Earnest – Marianarchy Teaser – S10 E17
Is this thing on?
Hello again ladies and gentlemen. You’ll have to forgive my brevity. I am at this time slaving away in the internet mines, trying to get Marianarchy XVI all set up for you for our first virtual fundraiser. It’s very exciting, but very intense and time consuming.
We talk a lot about the event on the show, and some of the details have changed in the ensuing 3 days, so follow the links and chekkitout. if you’d like to donate or find out more, follow the link to the GoFundMe Page.
This week on the show, we are happy to have SIX TIME guest, Mr. Vague himself: Mark Earnest. A multitalented journalist, musician and songwriter, Mark brings with him some great music from both of his bands, Kanawha and Vague Choir. Mark is a repeat Marianarchist as well, appearing in both the main event and the look back at years past.
Gotta go – links to check, SEO copy to write and videos to upload.
We hope you see us this weekend.
Thanks for Listening.

Oh hi, I didn’t see you there. Welcome to the Worst Little Podcast. We’re sorry. This week we have Reno “doom, sludge, alterno-whatever metal” band Kanawha in the studio to fill your ears with, um, doom? Kanawha has been playing shows in Reno and Tahoe since May with their debut at Marianarchy. Catch them next at the Marianarchy Winter Ball benefiting Emily Reese this weekend at Jub Jub’s! Go hear some loud desert songs and drink for a good cause (as opposed to the other reasons you drink).
This four piece is made up of Tony – guitar, Garett – drums, Chris – bass, Mark “the Adorable Hulk” – vocals.
Go like their Facebook page to stay updated on band news. I hear there’s some records coming your way soon.
This weekend the most important place to be is Jub Jub’s as we come together as a community to support Emily Reese while she battles cancer for the third time. Silent auction, raffle prizes, drink specials, AND kick ass bands. Don’t forget, Emily gets a portion of the bar so the more you drink, the more you help Emily and her family!
