Hey, did you know we actually still do a show?

Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – 2013 09 09

Hey boys and girls!!! Did you miss us? We missed you!!! We all had a great vacation this past August and are ready to hit the back third of the year with some awesome shows! Fist up to bat, we have the Infecto Skeletons, recent staple of the ReNO punk rock music market. These guys were out there a lot this spring and summer, smashing old skool punk rock into audience’s ears. Infecto Skeletons even just got off of a So-Cal mini-tour, branching out from Mother Reno.

Justin Minyard, Infecto Skeletons, Worst Little Podcast 09 09 2013

The choirboy of the band.

We had a good time with them at the house and on the show. Maybe went a little overboard on the pre-party… we talked too much and then didn’t have anything to say on the show that was coherent. Go figure! On THIS show? But the boys in Infecto Skeletons put down some killer tracks that had me wishing I was drunk and at Shea’s with Felix or something, so I could blindly and drunkenly crash around the room to their dulcet tones.

Andrew Hockenberry, Infecto Skeletons, Worst Little Podcast 09 09 2013

Help me! This studio is hell!

Infecto Skeletons are Justin Minyard (vocals), Andrew Hockenberry (drums), Rash Kader (bass) and Mike Read (guitar). Aside from being a lot of fun to hang out with andd playing some great Reno punk rock music, they … uh… well, that’s about it really. I didn’t get that far in the interview – got distracted by the Worst Little Quiz and the epic battle for Last Place.

Rash Kader, Worst Little Podcast 09 09 2013.

It’s a terr- …ific guy!

If you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend, we have really only two events we want to draw your attention to (Infecto Skeletons is playing at neither of them). First is on Friday at the Public House – Lend Jimi Damone a Hand – more info on the event to help Jimi Damone who recently suffered a debilitating accident in the show and on the event page. You can also donate to the cause at the Jimi Damone GiveForward page, where they have raised nearly 1/3 of their goal.

Also Sunday, please join Nick Ramirez at the Artist’s Lofts for a fundraiser for his cat, Loopy Lupe – listen and read, people, listen and read.

And don’t forget the Blazing Mics every Monday at Jub Jub’s Thirst Parlor, brought to you by the Worst Little Podcast!

And away we go!

The Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – S3 E23

This every other week thing is starting to really mess up my schedule. Is it July? September? I don’t know anymore! But the studio has been a lot cooler to work in. Part of what makes it so friggin cool this week is the awesome Lucas Young! Lucas just met the guys from the show over this past summer and has impressed them all with what a superb singer, musician and songwriter he is! Lucas Young is the real deal.

Lucas Young, of Lucas Young and the Wilderness

Well, here’s a smiley fellow!

Lucas Young can be found all over Reno, playing solo or with the Wilderness at open mic nights, shows and this Friday at the Knitting Factory with Buster Blue!!! Pretty damn exciting. If you happen to live in TX, we have some breaking news for you – Lucas Young has a number of tour dates coming up in central TX this fall, so you should check him out!

Also on the show this week – a surprise visit from our favorite Canadian, Danielle French. Danielle was the first guest on our show, oh so many years ago. She’s back in town before the Burn, to play some music and chill with friends. We were so happy Danielle French took the time to stop by and see us!!!

Bryce Albright looking up thoughtfully.

The sweater is to short.

So it belatedly came to my attention that the last time I posted a “Best of’ it just linked to the Scizopolitans’ episode.
Well here is the actual Best of the Worst put together by Executive Fluffer, Bryce!

Hope you enjoy! We’ll be back next week with Lucas Young!

Thanks for Listening!

This week we have a whole episode about what’s happening in Reno this weekend! What a shock!

Mike MacMillan on the Worst Little POdcast

Mike MacMillan – fuzzy and blurry

The first thing we’ve got is Wildstock! A benefit for the Wildflower Village. Organized by Michaeek MacMillan, Wildstock is a threeday blast out at the Wildflower Village, home to a gallery, absinthe bar, pub, the Iris Room and 2013 Nada Dada. It’s going to be a great event with lots and lots of local Reno music, burlesque, comedy, fire and much more!! Your very own Reverend Rory will be playing a set afternoon as well as emceeing most of the day.

Gabe Hilton

Introducing Gabe Hilton!

Mike brought a couple performers from the event with him – Gabe Hilton and Jill Marlene. While these two wonderful Reno musicians performed together as a mother-son duo on the podcast, they are actually playing in separate groups during the Wildstock event! Oh, Reno, you are a juggernaut of talent…..

Jill Marlene

Old friend of the show, Elgin Alway also comes by to promote a comedy review that he’s put together at the Studio on 4th this Friday night. Should be a lot of fun, with three Reno comics and one from Sacramento! He’s also involved with a RAW Artists Reno show on the 22nd. Listen for details!

Elgin Alway

Also, while you’re out, don’t forget to check out the Biggest Little Lemonade Mixer, brought to you by Reno Arts & Exchange at Jub Jub’s Thirst Parlor! Going to be a new networking event with performers and vendors and booths and LEMONADE!

Well, that’s all I know, so again, Thanks for listening!

And, we’re back!

Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – S3 E21

Hey, Everybody! Thanks for being patient with us while on our vacation.

Shane, guitar for Prescription

Shane – can you feel the awesome exploding?

This week, we have on Prescription, a great Reno band that’s been around for about a year. Reverend Rory caught them a few times and knew they HAD to be on the show. Nick and Dick were dutifully impressed. Their layered, raw wall of sound is like unto a natural force, like a tidal wave. Their sound is pretty structured, despite the chaos around them.

Justin, singer of Prescription

Justin can’t stop smiling!

The guys in the band – Donovan, Jarren, Josh, Justin and Shane – were totally pro too. Despite the heat and some technical glitches, they showed up with gear, on time, and ready to rock. They hammered down four songs that will get stuck in your head. You have plenty of chances to check out Prescription. Lincoln Lounge on 8/9 with the Vague Choir; The Urban Roots Farm Brew-grass festival on 8/10,  in Nevada City on 8/24 and at Moonrocks on 8/30.

Jarren, bassist for Prescription

Jarren – come to the dark side of PBR

Part of our difficulties was that this was our first week without Executive Fluffer, Bryce who is joining the Navy to be surrounded by seamen  leaving us for better things. We wish him well and curse him for not sticking around  hope he comes back to visit when he can.

We also have a quick phoner with Reno comedian, Jenny PezDeSpencer, at the top of the show – for her show that opens tonight! Chekkitout!

Josh, guitar for Prescription

Josh – gonna have to say it – Tim. Curry.

I hate to tell you this, but August is going to be a little spotty too. We’re just going to record every other week, due to scheduling and the fucking heat! ugh! That studio is a nightmare – we can’t run the AC, cause it makes a buzzing noise. But have no fear, we will be putting up content on the weeks off – maybe footage from open mics or a show – you’ll just have to see what Nick and I get up to this month!

Donovan, Drummer for Prescription

Donovan – One Sexy Beast

Don’t forget to check out the Rocky Horror Artown Extravaganza with Pinky Polanski and Thee Reverend Rory Dowd at Cargo in Whitney Peak (formerly CommRow). Also – Blazing Mics every week at Jub Jub’s!

As always, Thanks for Listening!

Scintillating Executive Fluffer, Bryce Albright, put together this Best of Episode from clips from our first season. Enjoy this trip through the vaults of the WLP Archives. Hope you’re enjoying the summer – we are!!!!

See you next week and Thanks for Listening!

So – partying on the Fourth kicked my ass. There’s lots of awesome things I want to say about the Schizopolitans, like that they’re badass. And that Xtevion, Andy Jorgensen, and Hector Urtubia are rocket scientists of music with their Hard Ambient Goth Atonal Jazz Industrial Techno Avant-garde Freestyle Dance Noise ethic. Or that they are an intense experience with sweat and cursing and a room packed full of electronics and wires and keyboards and computers. Or that they are an unique experience in Reno music. I could also say that you should check out The Schizopolitans on their bandcamp page for tons of free music. Or that you can catch them while you “Get Wood!” at the Strega 5-year Anniversary Party on July 12th.

I could also call The Schizopolitans self-indulgent twats, but I wouldn’t do that.

I’m not going to say any of that, because I’m exhausted – enjoy your weekend.

Thanks for listening.

Regina Powers smiling for the camera!

Lovely Regenie!

Hello friends, it’s that time of the week again! Don’t forget to drink your Ovaltine! (do they even make that anymore?) We have a pretty fun show lined up for you – except for that part when Rev. Rory tries to use a tuner – with lots of exciting things! First, from the Tahoe Players, we have a couple of cast members from their production of les Miserables take the time to visit with us. Micheal Jackson and Regina Powers take the stage in the studio and tell us all about the debut of les Miserables at the Village Green for Red, White, and Tahoe Blue on July 5. Directed by Lily Baran and Musical Director Joe McKessom, the production will also run July 25-29 at John Ascuaga’s Nugget. Tickets are available at the Tahoe Players website. Aside from all that good stuff, Miceal blew us away with just a snippet from the show. It should be a lot of fun!

Micheal Jackson of the Tahoe Players.

The REAL Micheal Jackson on our show!!!!

Sadly, Nick announced the demise of Candyshoppe, citing creative differences and an insatiable addiction to Cheetos amongst the various members. Best known for violently assaulting audience members with sugary treats, Candyshoppe will be remembered as a  band of minor note – mostly B minor. Just kidding! We will actually miss them and wish all the Candyshoppers the best in the next chapter of whatever the hell it is that they do. We end up playing a few of their songs this week, in memoriam.

Bryce Albright looking up thoughtfully.

The sweater is too short.

We also devote some portion of the show to talking with Executive Fluffer, Bryce Albright. So far 100% of Bryce’s bands have broken up, usually before releasing any recordings. SO! Seeing as they were Dogwater Studio productions living under a rock, we played a few. and you know what – they were actually pretty good. Toe tapping in fact.

This Weekend’s picks
Friday – Captured! By Robots at Jub Jub’s – $10
– Stabby Unicorn and N8-Bit at Strega – Free

Saturday – SITR featuring Craig Prather and John White at Swill
– Old Man Markley, 6 Mile Station and Actors Killed Lincoln at The Alley

That’s all! Thanks for listening!!!

Hey Everybody! Your old pal, Super Grover here! Just kidding it’s only me.

Oliver Hull of The Tides

Oliver, the Laughing Boy

New Reno garage band, The Tides, take a visit with us today. Featuring Kevin Kentera on drums, Brian Healy on bass and Oliver Hull on lead guitar and vocals, The Tides ripped through the studio like a howling wolf. Primal screams and solid rock melodies will get you out of your seat and have you howling along with them. I really like these new guys on the scene.

Bobby Slayton FlyerWe also have a fun phone call from Bobby Slayton again. The Pitbull of Comedy bites into Reverend Rory and just destroys him in front of a live studio audience! Fun times… Anyway, Bobby is also appearing at The Pioneer Underground this Friday and Saturday, June 21 & 22.

Brian Healy winking at the camera

Brian – I find your answer illogical.

Nick is out this week with a bad back (get better soon buddy) so none other than the MIGHTY Kodiak, Dakota Joe steps in to take his place. This is a new Kodiak, subdued, in shape and sober. Kinda weird, but a change for the better…. we think…

Kevin Kentera of The Tides

Kevin – Ritalin? Never heard of it…

Reverend Rory’s Picks for the Week:
Thursday, 6/20 – Mr Nick Ramirez at Adopt a Singer Songwriter (ASS!) at the Studio on 4th, 8pm
Friday, 6/21 – BOBBY SLAYTON at the Pioneer Underground, 8p
– Pinky Polanski, Beercan, Voted best Band and Riptide Bandits – The Alley, 8:30
– Movie Musical Sing-a-long : Labyrinth, Good Luck Macbeth, 8pm
Saturday, 6/22 – BOBBY SLAYTON at the Pioneer Underground, 7p and 9:30pm

– Unburn Comedy with pat Schillito, Jenny Pez DeSpencer and more. Wildflower Village

Do what you love!

The Worst Little Podcast in the World – Download Link – S3 E17

Super fun happy good times on the show this week! Craig Prather stops in for some studio time, promoting his brand spankin’ new CD “No Limits”. Reverend Rory’s brother, Mike , is in town and keeps the third chair warm for Chewie while he’s gone. And we had absolutely NO technical difficulties. None whatsoever. Nope.

Craig Prather smiling for the camera

Craig Prather – full of smiles

Craig Prather is a super guy and collaborative musician – his CD is a two-fer! With a ridiculous number of songs on it, it is a double CD release, all for the price of one! We chat it up, talking about his experiences and the scores of Reno musicians he’s worked with in the past few years. Seriously! Craig Prather can name-drop with the likes of Tom Gordon and Nick Ramirez!

Mike Dowd with a microphone in front of his face.

A face for radio!

We have a lot of fun, but really the Worst Little Quiz does not fail to disappoint this week. Despite such different guys, they were running a pretty tight race right up until the end, and kabbblaaaammmmm! Everything changes. You gotta listen!

Also – I got everything wrong with Big Remote last week. Their CD Jenkins is available at Discology or at their website www.bigremote.net.

Don’t forget to checkout Lighter Theif at the NadaDada event this Friday at Wildflower Pub. Also Reverend Rory will be emceeing The Best In the West Burlesque Showcase during the Reno Rockabilly Riot at the Grand Sierra Resort this weekend.

Mike Dowd with a double thumbs up!

“Let’s party!”
