northern nevada film
S14E27 Nowhere Nevada 10 Year Anniversary! -Spoilers!
This week Nick and Dogwater Dick talk about the film Nowhere Nevada. A locally made feature length movie written by Marianne “Marianarchy” Psota, turn of the century Reno arts and music promoter, writer, muse and conduit.
Eight years after her passing the script was given to David Richards who, with the help of over 100 Northern Nevadans, directed what would become 2014’s best feature film at the San Francisco Global Movie Festival.
In celebration of the ten-year anniversary of the win, we hear tracks featured in the movie, by Max Volume, Andy Luna with Seasons of Insanity, Mister Vague, Los Pistoleros and The Shames, and the guys share memories and insights from working on the film. Rick produced over half the music in it and Nick had several contributions including music director and producer.
This episode is full of movie spoilers. Be warned. Not too much is given away but if you want to watch Nowhere Nevada knowing nothing about it, don’t listen to this until after you’ve watched it.
It was interesting having just Nick and Rick talking to each other, one on one, in the same room. Trippy but kind of refreshing. We hope you enjoy it. Nick is hosting a screening this Saturday August 31st at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City with Reno rockers on the Nowhere Nevada soundtrack, Mark Earnest’s Vague Inc. and Los Pistoleros, before the film and a Q&A with the director and others following.
Come on out and see this crazy love letter from Marianne to the Reno music scene and the scenes love letter to her on the big screen with a fantastic Rock and Roll show to boot!
Life is short and we love you. See you at the movies!
