Redfield Clipper – The Duke Abides – S7 E23
Welcome to this week’s Worst Little Podcast!
We’re super excited to have the Duke and Clip from Redfield Clipper on the show! This seven piece (!!!) eclectic hip hop group combines elements of Jazz, electronica, and traditional hip hop. They’re joining us to share some never before heard tracks from their newest album, Beach Master, and holy cow (see what I did there?), are they good. Don’t believe me? Listen for yourselves and find out what a Beach Master actually is! This show is fun *and* educational!
Redfield Clipper is comprised of Redfield Clipper – Vox/ Guitar,
The Duke of Blunts- Vox/ Bass, Chris Sexton (c$exmoney)- Vox/ Keys,
Greg Lewis- Drumset, Eric Johnson- TenorSax, Jef Derderian – Trumpet, Andy Bryant – Electronics/samples/synth. This is a true Reno super group that has been playing together since 2012. They release their first music video off Beach Master Sunday, August 6, 2017. Subscribe to their YouTube channel to be notified when it is released.
Redfield Clipper recently opened for Afro Man at Shea’s and have graced the stage at the Holland Project and the Saint. Keep tabs on them here for show dates.
In other Reno news, there has been a humpback whale sighting in downtown Reno! Keep your eyes on City Plaza (where the Believe sculpture is located) to see the great whale erection. There will be a dedication ceremony and reception hosted by the city of Reno on August 8th. Yours truly will be there, along with the rest of the Space Whale crew and we would love to see you there.
In the meantime, check out my picks for the rest of the weekend:
Thursday night is the PBR Blue Ribbon Award Party at Shea’s. Starting at 6 you can stuff your faces with free BBQ sponsored by Pabst, and wash it all down with FREE BEER until 8 p.m.
After you’re nice and buzzy off PBR, head to Pignic for local music scene staple, Loud As Folk. This month Spike and the gang bring you national touring one man band, Acousta Noir, with supporting local acts Rachael McElhinney and Brendon Lund of Failure Machine and Silver. 8 p.m. Loud As Folk is donation based with this months proceeds going to Our Center.
Friday be sure to hit Jub Jub’s for the Voted Best Camp fundraiser show. Voted Best Camp provides shelter to starving musicians such as Chris Fox and Jonathan Daniel. For just a few dollars you can make sure your favorite local band members don’t die in the desert. Doors at 8 p.m.
If you’re looking for something completely different, head to Alturas on the Downlow for their Totally Gnarly 80s party featuring the original members of Bow Wow Wow. Costumes mandatory. 9 p.m.
Saturday night check out Reno punk band, Reno, We Have a Problem at Abby’s Highway 40. It’s a party for no reason, which is the best kind of party. 9 p.m. No cover. Pants optional.
If you’re looking for slightly more shoe gazing (just kidding, this thing is a riot), head to Monolith for Drink 182, Reno’s first and best emo night. Sing your favorite emo and pop punk tunes with the whole crowd. It’s where I’ll be! 9 p.m. No cover.
Sunday at 5 p.m. is Alturas on the Downlow’s weekly BBQ potluck with music by Leroy of Hellbound Glory! Don’t miss it. No cover.
Last but not least, Monday see Haunted Summer + Avi Buffalo, People with Bodies, Night Rooms at the Holland Project. If you haven’t heard People With Bodies yet, get down there. 8 p.m. $7. All ages.
This is your friendly reminder that if you have an event or a band you think we should know about let us know! Thanks for listening, Reno!
Nowhere Nevada: EPISODE 100!!!!!! – S3 E11
That’s right 100 (ish – if you don’t count Best of Episodes or two-part episodes)!!!!
The Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – S3 E11
Great fun this week, but the post is going to be light, because Reverend Rory has poor time management skills.
In studio, we have a bunch of cast and crew from the Reno film project “Nowhere, Nevada”. Male Lead, Jef Derderian; Casting Director, Juli Green; Director of Cinematography, Tyler Bourns and Executive Producer, Brian Sutherland all took time out of their pot smoking busy schedules to hang out with us and talk with us about the film – which is almost done!!!! Late late late in the show, we also get a special appearance from Tom Gordon, whose fingerprints are all over the sound of the movie. (Not to mention that we have to thank Just Nick for making a lot of this happen, and Rev. Rory is on screen for about 45 seconds)
It’s a longish show, so we forgot to tell you what’s coming up this weekend – here’s a quick breakdown of the “Staff Picks”:
FRIDAY:
Shea’s – Spencer Shea, Matt Hutchings and Lepp’s bday celebration with Livitz Livitz and Arden Park Roots (SAC)
Reno Art Works – The Traveling Miracle Show
SATURDAY 4/20:
Bar M Bar – Candyshoppe, Cadillac, Mary Jane Rocket, Matt Waage, Julebox Rebels and lots of Jello Shots
Strega – Bazooka Zoo CD Release Party!
Like I said – poor time management skills.
Thanks for listening!!!!!
