This week’s guest is a familiar name, the fantastic Kat Heart on guitar and voice and her new trio with one of our heroes from the Atomiks, Luke Hoffman on standup bass and newcomer to the Dogwater studios, Erick Graham on drums. They are called Feral Heart, and they click man.
We talk about how they formed, what they think of each other, their kismet connection to John Popper and his fiancé Gidget, opening for Grace Potter and Kat’s upcoming show at Alturas this Friday with Roxxy Collie and Bang Marry Kill.
Feral Heart is a soulful, groovy, slightly jazzy with a tinge of psychedelic surf vibes and the grit and passion of women like Janis Joplin and Nina Simone. At times they feel like a great bar band, the soundtrack for the high desert and sipping cocktails outside at sunset. Relaxing, interesting and always from the heart. That’s how Kat rolls.
