S14E32: Sandall & Poune – Double D’s
This week on the pod, Dale Poune and Doug Sandall bring their high desert blues music to the Dogwater Studios. Both guys play acoustic guitar, both take turns singing songs and Doug plays the harmonica like Magic Dick from the J Geils Band.
Dale plays with Lacy J Dalton (including at the Grand Ole Opry!) and tours with Doug all over, like from Phoenix Arizona all the way to Tacoma, if you dig. Dale also teaches music at the High Desert Prison in Susanville and has real life tales in his songworks. As does Doug, who we had on a few seasons back as a solo artist. They joined up shortly after that and it’s been off to the races.
They treated us to several blues numbers and the stories behind them. Sandall and Poune are an open book, and the songs reflect their truth, booze, mistakes, women, regrets and self-respect. They have a great chemistry and they’re funny and genuine.
