Rory, Nick, Rick, and Chewy bring you this week’s podcast from a not so hot and sweaty studio (because Kim’s not there). This week we are joined by Lee, Perry, Amelia, and Travis from Basement Tapes! Listen up for some top notch Reno garage rock and learn how many times we should forgive someone before we’re allowed to punch them!
But FIRST we are joined briefly by excellent Reno songwriter, Greg Gilmore. Greg is talking to us about/premiering his new single, What Am I? Check out his Facebook page for video’s and music links. Let’s listen to some music!
But back to Basement Tapes. Basement Tapes describes their music as retro, 60s, raw, high-energy garage rock. Revisiting a time when music had music had soul, with post-modern punk attitude, melodic, grooving bass lines, thunderous rolling drums, powerful crashing guitar riffs and a harmonious couple on vocals. Basement Tapes plays straight-forward simple rock and roll.
Thanks to Greg and Basement Tapes for joining us this week!

Welcome to literally the worst podcast in the world!

This week we welcome Rory back to the show but not in his normal capacity as he is one of tonight’s guests! Also missing but present is Mr. Nick Ramirez. Nick and Rory, along with band-mates Spike and Jackson are here as One Ton Dually, and they’re ready with like six songs, so hold onto your tits, dear listeners. Listen up as Chewy and Kadillac Kim attempt to fill Nick and Rory’s rather large hosting shoes/chairs. We’re here talking about murders and Reno and Murderino’s!
But enough about us, let’s talk about the BAND. One Ton Dually is a rock and roll band from Reno, NV, singing songs about fast drinking and hard wimmin (yeah, they made that a word). The band describes themselves as a 4-speed good time transmission with top of the line suspension and a powerful engine under the hood. I’d take that for a ride, and you should too.
One Ton Dually has recently played at the Saint and Shea’s, which is to say they get around. If you know what I mean… Like their Facebook page to learn about new show dates and to link to their music.
While you’re waiting for One Ton Dually, be sure to check out the following awesome-sauce events in Reno.
This Friday is Foxy First Friday with host Rory Dowd, featuring Mike Metzger. Apparently Mike is well recommended by many low-life musicians who own guitars. I mean, that’s what the internet has to say and the internet is never wrong. If you want to challenge the internet, or if you just want to hear some great live music, get to Foxy Olive by 9 p.m. 21+ No cover.
Saturday punk bands U.S. Bombs / Abandon Minds / Another Damn Disappointment share the stage at Shea’s. 9 p.m. 21+
If you haven’t heard, Sunday is the new Saturday in Reno. Check out the Violence Creeps / Negative Sex / Murder Dream at the Holland Project. 8 p.m. all ages. $5
At Alturas on the DL, go have an epic good time seeing Johnny Cash tribute Cash’d Out with Cowboy Indian. 21+ 8 p.m. $15 (tickets here)
For all you Burner’s and would be Burners, Monday through Wednesday is the annual city wide party known as The Great Depressurization, presented by our friends at Fresh Bakin’. Decompress and readjust to the default world with excellent entertainment by the likes of Kelly Proud (details here), The Utility Players (details here), and big name DJ’s. The three day event takes place at The Eldorado, Silver Legacy, and Circus Circus in Reno, and MontBleu Resort in South Lake Tahoe. Click through to see the full lineup.
If you need a break from the casino traffic, go to Cargo on Tuesday for Saving Banksy / The Great Bingo Revival at Cargo. See the film, stay for the party. 21+ 8 p.m. no cover
That’s all I’ve got this week and this is where I’ll be. If you have events you think I should go to let me know! I’ll do just about anything once.
There’s no show next week thanks to Labor Day, but we’ll be back on September 11th with Riptide Bandits! Thanks for listening Reno. You’re the best.
Gina Rose and Pat Meet The Worst Little Podcast – S7 E25
S7 E25
Hello and welcome to this weeks episode of the Worst Little Podcast, broadcast from high above the city of Reno fucking Nevada!
Nick, Chewy, Rick and myself, Kadillac Kim, are here to bring you this week’s podcast! Regretfully (for him), the Reverend Rory Dowd is not around this week, but we get plenty of shots in at his expense! This week, as always, we have something really special for our listeners. We have not one, but TWO talented guests in the studio for your listening pleasure. And let me tell you, we talked about pleasure (*winknod*). But really, we have at least one and a half freaks in the room tonight. We’re talking about rope bondage, secret middle names, and how I got the name Kadillac Kim. Spoilers, it was in the parking lot of the Bunny Ranch when I was cornered by strippers in the bathroom of a double wide trailer. So that’s a thing… ANYWAY! We get off on the right foot with Reno country/Americana darling, Gina Rose. Gina will leave you with goosebumps after her first song. Don’t go anywhere or you’ll regret not hearing everything she has to say and sing!
Gina Rose is a singer-songwriter based out of Reno, Nevada. She formed her first band three years ago and has been playing guitar and writing music since she was a youngster (8years old!!). She began her music career opening for punk bands in Reno basements. Despite being a folk singer she won audiences over, with fans telling her that she’s just as heavy as the punk bands she opened for. As Nick points out, though, punk is just outlaw rock & roll and Gina is outlaw country. Her music can be found on her Bandcamp page and she has a new album in the works. She has a show coming up in Virginia City, like her on Facebook to be notified when the event is posted. Do yourselves a favor and don’t miss it or any of her shows! On behalf of the Worst little podcast, thank you miss Gina Rose for your time, some great conversation, and for the bone chilling tunes. You’re going places .
Also in the studio this week is Pat Shillito, local emcee and comedian who has worked at the Laugh Factory (formerly Catch a Rising Star) at the Silver Legacy. Pat also hosts open mic comedy nights all over Reno. Listen to Pat’s quick and dry wit as he discusses the major things going on in the Reno comedy scene.
Until next time, here are my picks for how to spend the next week in Reno!

Especially relevant to current events is The Mountaintop, a play by American playwright Katori Hall.
