S14E31 Feral Heart- Kat’s in the Cradle
This week’s guest is a familiar name, the fantastic Kat Heart on guitar and voice and her new trio with one of our heroes from the Atomiks, Luke Hoffman on standup bass and newcomer to the Dogwater studios, Erick Graham on drums. They are called Feral Heart, and they click man.
We talk about how they formed, what they think of each other, their kismet connection to John Popper and his fiancé Gidget, opening for Grace Potter and Kat’s upcoming show at Alturas this Friday with Roxxy Collie and Bang Marry Kill.
Feral Heart is a soulful, groovy, slightly jazzy with a tinge of psychedelic surf vibes and the grit and passion of women like Janis Joplin and Nina Simone. At times they feel like a great bar band, the soundtrack for the high desert and sipping cocktails outside at sunset. Relaxing, interesting and always from the heart. That’s how Kat rolls. We loved having this trio of talent on the show. You can get info on all of Kat’s projects at Katheart.net and Kat’s Facebook.
See you at the show!
Life is short and we love you!
Franky’s Chop Shop – Nice Chops – S11 E31
Horror, surf, metal, industrial and punk rock; Franky’s Chop Shop has it all. It’s he perfect soundtrack for a hard rockin’ bikini beach bash from hell! We get into the making of this new project from the mad mind of Murderock‘s Franky (Chris Alexander).
This just in: (That’s right, you heard it here first) Keith (Jewett) still hates fun. He loves books though! He and Dogwater Dick talk about their book club “member”ship (inset Beavis and Butthead laugh… heh… I said ‘insert’) Drummer Carlos Pintor wasn’t able to make it (possibly on Franky’s operating table).
Joining Franky and Keith is their member from another band, the always delightful Freddy Ferox (Murderock/Sonic Dead/Candy Apple and the Razorblades) who is just along for the ride this week. He does provide stiff competition in the quiz (heh heh). Nick and Dick make sure to drive that bus off the gross cliff this week – not to yuck anyone’s yum, but: have fun.
Sadly, Murderock’s FINAL SHOW is going to be later this month – 10/30 at Alturas’ Cellar , with A Wormhole Could Kill Us All and Hired Fun. From the desk of Nick Ramirez: “I know I speak for the whole podcast when I say we’re truly going to muss you, Murderock. Y’all killed it. RIP”
We also get into the Marianarchy lineup this year – getting started tomorrow at The Bluebird at 6 pm! Please check it the event out for silent auction and please throw some love to the Marianarchy GoFundme page.
