This week, returning for a second time, we have black metal band Vakker on the show. Celebrating women in the Reno music scene we have Erin on the vocals, with her guy, Ryan on drums, Chris on guitar and Noah on bass.
Black metal is a genre we have had on the show a few sporadic times. Being a rookie I had a vague stereotype of what I thought black metal was about. Probably from movies about Norwegian black metal and satanic stuff. That’s not what Vakker is about at all. The music is about mourning, grief and loss, something the band knows a lot about. We discuss that and a vast array of topics.
We hear one long epic track in two parts. It’s like a short film for your third eye. Dark and haunting but also beautiful and cathartic. Like a soundtrack to the struggle of uncertainty and fragility of life.
They’re charming, intelligent, humorous and a great hang. Great to have them back.
Good Song Bad Song this week is from Pink Floyd. Place your bets!
Life is short and we love you!
Thanks for listening.
