S15E39: Crime Wife- Rock Noire
Just a few more episodes to go this season/year and we have the honor and pleasure of debuting a brand-new band from old friends Joe Atack on guitar and lead vocals and drummer and backing vocalist Steven Sperber from Weapons of Mass Creation, and new friend Jennifer Kim, Steven’s wife, on bass and backing vocals. This indie rock trio is called Crime Wife.
With their extra time that is in limited supply, the group found themselves ready to make their introduction to the world. First on our podcast and next, on stage this Saturday at MARIANARCHY XXI music festival at Shims tavern on 3rd street in Reno.
They picked the name because it had the noire vibe of their music and aesthetics. They have great songs from the heart with an alternative jammy, vast, dreamy sound with many epic tunes with twists and turns and multiple different sections keeping the listener engaged. Joes’ guitar rarely plays the same licks twice, Joe explores the song and creates a beautiful tapestry with Stephen’s masterful drumming holding it together, while Jennifer plays juxtaposing bass licks that fit the song in clever and interesting ways. They’re a great arty rock trio and we can’t wait to see the whole set with samples and all the bells and whistles of their live performance.
