Newbound and Vickie Gordon – Do Stupid Things – S6 E5
Aaaaand we are BACK! Ha HA!
The Worst Little Podcast – S6 E5 – Download link
Thank you for your patience, please enjoy the complementary mimosas with this episode [NOT INCLUDED]. A big big BIG, sloppy-with-tongue “thank you” to Senior Production Assistant, Nate Sanders for filling in for the Rev while he was away. It’s good to be back, refreshed and invigorated! To that end, we invited Newbound – a new sound in the Reno music collage – to play on the show. Newbound is a Reno, NV post-punk rock band featuring Dana Deitrich, Ry Stolz, Nick Viland and Kyle Campbell. They’ve got shoegaze appeal, angsty yelling, thoughtful lyrics and fantastic melodic noise jams.
Fine lads, the lot of em. You can check them out all over social media, their website and music sharing sites – but you really ought to get a hold of them for a Newbound CD – I really like their debut EP. More importantly, go check them out at their show at the end of the month, on March 30, at PB&J’s opening for the I Set My Friends on Fire tour. It will be worth it.
Also joining us this week is one of the Rev’s favorite people in the world: Reno comic, drinking buddy and purveyor of fine flannels, the lovely and talented Vickie Gordon. In addition to busting chops, Vickie is also on the show to promote next weekend’s Ladies of Laughter Comedy Show. Hosted by Sally Mauldin, and with special guests Vickie Gordon and Josie Spadoni, the Ladies of Laughter (LOL!) comedy show stars none other than Kat Simmons, an internationally featured comedian and public speaker. It’s a pretty solid lineup, laugh-o-philes; go see some real comedy at a show!
Hella. It’s good to be back.
Thanks for Listening!
(oh yeah – there’s a new intern – Fake Rick)
Blacklisted – Crab legs and Narcos – S6 E4
Silly Pagans and blood sausage.
The Worst Little Podcast – S6 E4 – Download Link
This week we have Blacklisted which consists of Freddy and Derek. You may know them from Corner/Store – formerly The Tides. They are currently an instrumental band. However, they are looking for a singer. Bassist could be necessary as well. Inquire within.

Typically this is when we would tell you where to see them live next. Not the case this time. They are still working on their thing. Keep an eye on the Blacklisted Facebook page for updates. This weekend at Jub Jub’s Thirst Parlor will be Skate Jam 2016 though. Plenty of great bands playing that event.

Everyone send Rick a little love. Think about him, hug him when you see him next, send him an “I’m thinking about you” text, or hug someone you love right now because life is short, and we all love you.
Here is a picture of Nick that is full of more cool than you can shake a stick at:

CRUSH – Start stuffing words in there! – S6 E3
Gollum in a wizard’s hat.
The Worst Little Podcast – S6 E3 – Download Link
Valentine’s Day draws near, Reverend Rory is out of the country, and we get that loving feeling with the lads of CRUSH. Aaron, Daniel, and Jimmy talk about getting the band back together, their newer direction, and how Pharrell killed their “Happy.” Check out how they define fuzz rock with their new tunes.

At Jub Jub’s this Friday you can rock out at Bands for Bernie. The Atomiks, Roxxy Collie, Wheatstone Bridge, Mikie Shame & Nick Ramirez will all be playing. On Saturday Spectre Records will be celebrating their one year anniversary with a concert in their store. Alphabet Cult, People With Bodies, and Flores will be playing. Based on what Dogwater Dick had to say, you should be keeping an ear out for some new Murderock soon.

Catch CRUSH this Friday, February 12, at MidTown Wine Bar. Fun starts at 8 P.M., goes until 11 P.M., it is 21+, and there is no cover. That means FREE! Grab your date and get your V.D. started early.

Go hug someone, tell them they are beautiful, and let them know they are loved! Then go catch a show.
The Hunt Club – Fresh as the Driven Snow – S6 E2
…which is, fairly filthy…
The Worst Little Podcast – S6 E2 – Download Link
Welcome to February, the bleakest time of year, where the sun hides and we all turn into murderous lunatics. Good luck out there! To ease your wintry-woes, we have on the show this week, The Hunt Club, a Reno electronica band. Seriously, there’s not much else like them right now in town and they are the shit. Aside from the fact that they have not played out a whole lot, you should really check them out as you can.
Nick’s back this week and we talk a little at the top of the show about his perception of the wedding and his honeymoon. It’s good to have Pickles back in the saddle.
Really The Hunt Club is awesome. Really really good shit.
Thanks for Listening!
Lil Mijhos – Running with Smoking Scissors – S6 E1
…and it happened with a BANG!
Worst Little Podcast – S6 E1 – Download Link
Good morrow, good friends! It’s a fine fine start to Season 6 we have here, with some upstarts in the Reno music scene, Lil Mijhos! Reice Guerrero and Tyler Charles roll up on Dogwater and pump out some kick ass tunes. They’ve got an alt/punk thing going on with a lot of energy and groove to it. I highly recommend checking them out at your next opportunity.
We also take a phone call from friend of the show, Kye Alfred Hillig. Kye came through town a couple years ago and has kept in touch during his travels! This week he’s promoting his new album, Great Falls Memorial Interchange. It’s not out yet, but you can listen to the track mentioned in the show by clicking on this link: Yes Grinning Face of Death
Good stuff. Get your listen on.
We would also be remiss if we did not also throw out a big congratulations to the happy couple, Nick Ramirez and Mikie Haley! They tied the know! It’s official! It was awesome! More later when Nick’s back in the saddle.
Thanks for Listening!
Treedom – Pikkitup Pikkitup – S5 E38
We gotchoo, son.
The Worst Little Podcast – S5 E39 – Download Link
This week, the phenomenon known Treedom joins us in the studio! Treedom is Alex Stevens (git/vox), Gabe Hulse (bass) and Corbin Cliften (drums), all from Reno NV, all playing ska/reggae music. These young lads have been tearing things up in the last year, steadily developing their sound. It’s definitely worth a listen.
It’s been a MINUTE since there was an active ska/reggae band in these here parts. Sure, a couple of Tahoe bands and some stalwarts have been played a few shows in the last decade, but furreals. When was the last time you went to see a band like that. And don’t tell me the scene doesn’t like it, because, fuck you – we do! Treedom is a great addition to the scene and came to play ball on the podcast. Listening to them was like summertime in the winter and sunshine on your face. Goddamn good times. You can catch them this Saturday at Third St. Bar with SoCal jammers, Jam Stain.
Unfortunately, we have to reschedule the show next week, due to a Spagnola family emergency. Dogwater Dick explains all at the end of the show. But don’t fret! There is a ridiculous amoun t of great music this weekend in Reno – we talk about all the upcoming shows at the end as well – including shows with Drinking with Clowns, Rigorous Proof and the LAST MaryJane Rocket show. You need to get off the couch this week!
Thanks for listening!
Wizard Colors – Dutch Rudder – S5 E37
Brand new year! Same old dick jokes!
The Worst Little Podcast – S5 E38 – Download Link
Starting the year of with some magical musical machinations is Wizard Colors, a Carson City NV noise band, featuring Jen Scaffidi and Carson Cessna, noted Sierra Nevada musical outlaws. “Noise band” might throw you off, sounding like some frenetic Phillip Glass/Mike Patton fantasy band, which is not unheard of, but Wizard Colors is something else. Randomly ambient audio-structure creation, might be a better way of looking at it. Yeah, I know it’s weird, but listen anyway, because it’s good for you!
Wizard Colors has been a regular participant at MEAT – Reno Noise Night, a monthly gathering of noise aficionados, as have Cessna and Scaffidi individually. This weekend, they will be performing with Will Hendricks and N8ive, at RNN’s new home at the Holland Project. You can hear a little more about these performers in the episode. Reno Noise Night’s monthly events are at the beginning of their fourth year and are definitely unique events. Literally, not one is the same as the next, even were they to have the same performers, which doesn’t always happen.
Also on the show, we have the treat of one Quentin Ramirez, heir to Nick Ramirez III, Reverend Rory’s left-hand man. Quentin couldn’t make it in for the Christmas show, but he made it for the new year! It’s good to see him again, now that he’s old enough to be on the show. Though scoring high marks in the nerd and video game department, he had a rough time with the quiz – but not as rough as Nick did listening to his answers!
So to sum up, if you like close listening to improvisational music in the dark, or are intrigued by what you here on the episode, go check out Wizard Colors at Holland Project, Friday Jan. 9 at 8pm. Quentin was rad. Oh, and yeah – we talk about what we remember and don’t remember about Nick’s bachelor party. SUPER NFSW. Might want to pot the volume down on that segment.
Thanks for Listening!

Busking by Moonlite – Sleeping by Day – S5 E35
Well met, weary travelers!
The Worst Little Podcast – S5 E36 – Download Link
It’s been a bit of a stress filled whirlwind around the Dogwater Studios! Stupid Holidays, stupid thinking of OTHERS, stupid fun. Nick and his lovely Mikie had a wedding shower over the weekend, Rick and Nick had birthdays and it’s the countdown to fun family and alcohol! We had some technical difficulties that resulted in a failure to communicate on the part of Rick and Rory’s email services, but that’s all cleared up.
Much apologies for the delay in the episode to our fantastic guests, Busking By Moonlite:
Busking by Moonlite is Mason Frey, Nico Telles, Kenny Shepherd and Christian McNamara who being their own spin to the rock/blues game – Reno style, If you have’t caught them , they are a recent development in the overall music map of the Reno entertainment game. Although they look young, these men all have the souls of old men who sold their soul at a crossroads for a little talent. Rev. Rory is out this week so Nick and Chewie take the helm.
Despite the delay in the show, you should listen to it as soon as possible. Busking by Moonlite is stinkin’ talented. Hurry before these musicians grow too big for Reno and take their talent elsewhere. Who are we kidding – they’re trapped here like everyone else.
Speaking of being trapped here, we will have and EXTRA SPECIAL BONUS EPISODE for you later this week. That’s right, the ever popular Christmas Spectacular! Stay Tuned on Christmas Eve for more! In the meantime, enjoy Busking By Moonlite!
Thanks for listening.
Todd Ballowe – At the Stump – S5 E34
You never really know what’s going to happen here…. so go ahead… just stick your hand in…
The Worst Little Podcast – S5 E35 – Download Link
Switching gears from the onslaught of recent bands, this week, we went solo. We went old school, with longtime Reno musician, Todd Ballowe getting down at the studio. An ironman of Reno entertainers, Todd has played an active role, in different capacities, in the Reno entertainment and music scene for over 20 years. And yet, he still has time to drop by our shitty little show for a second time! What a sucker great guy!
Todd was recently a featured performer at Marianarchy Winterball 2015 and you’ll be able to catch him at the upcoming, ressurected, new and improved, Foxy First Friday with the Reverend Rory Dowd at the Foxy Olive on January 1st! Despite NYE being on the day before Todd and I are going to rock the House, down at the Foxy. Won’t you join us?
Thanks for Listening!
