WLP Conversations – S10 E40
Unfortunately, due to some technical difficulties, or most recent guest was unable to connect with us either of the last two weeks. It’s a bummer! And he really tried! We are looking a dates in the future, after upgrades. However, while we were waiting, we did have a hot mic and recorded our backstage banter. Listen to what we talk about with no guest – not a lot! Hear about Dogwater Dick’s brush with the law as a young couchsurfer! To read more about the lurid details Dick was most certainly NOT involved in, you can read the RGJ article here.

The delay in this week’s episode was also due, in part (mostly) to Reverend Rory’s birthday celebration. He took some time off to spend with the family and indulge himself and do adulty things like get tattooed and buy furniture for Christmas. There MAY have been some weed and alcohol involved (at home) and some social distancing (while out – and in bed). Sorry/not sorry for the delay – this was a year a little indulgence was needed.

Thanks For Listening!
(we really have a show next week too – it’s already recorded)
Triflin’ Bitches – Good Music, Bad Decisions (ft. Felix Danger) – S10 E39
If I had to describe this week’s show in a one-word quote, I think it would have to be “WOOOOOOOOOO!”, the signature battle cry of Ric “Nature Boy” Flair. I don’t think it’s quite a trainwreck, but it definitely went off the rails at some point. Enter The Bitches: Triflin’ Bitches, that is.

We are also happy to have back with us, the 5th member of the WLP Beatles cover band, Mr. Felix Danger. Always a welcome element to any conversation, like salt, he is. The saltiest salt you could ever want on a linguistic sandwich. Or something.
I’m not even going to try to recount what was said – have some fun and listen for yourself – and thanks for listening!
Freddie Ferox – Lament of Time – S10 E38
Where has this year gone? What just happened??? We recorded this episode on the eve of the US 2020 elections, so we had no idea of what happened! It’s cute and naïve, like younger versions of ourselves. We welcome Freddie Ferox (Murderock, Candy Apples and the Razor Blades, Sonic Dead) with some new Sonic Dead tracks, fresh from release – some ripped straight from the headlines.

Like much of the music, this newest Sonic Dead EP is not for the weak of heart, but it does speak from the heart. Freddie takes on the evils of the world – well, lyrically anyway.

We hope you enjoy this taste of Sonic Dead and wait with baited breath for their return to the stage (with everybody else).
Thanks For Listening!
Nick Ramirez – Recursive – S10 E 37
It’s a post-Marianarchy afterglow kind of show, folks. This week we are placing the spotlight on our senior correspondent and co-host, MISTER Nick Ramirez. Nick is happy to announce the release of his long-awaited solo album, “This Might Be The End”. Here you get a sneak peek and listen to it (although at the time of publishing, digital pre-order and CD copies are available)

There are a lot of great recordings of some of your favorite Nick songs and some new cuts as well! We hope you enjoy listening to them with the man himself. Get a hold of Nick directly for a copy
Lets get to it, shall we?

Thanks for listening!
Kittenhead on Marianarchy Eve – S10 E36
What is with the ups, mofos? Being awesome and taking care of your own, that’s what’s up. That’s why we have, at long last, Kittenhead on the podcast this week. These good friends from the Bay and LA are headlining Day one of Emergency Marianarchy this weekend and we are pleased as punch to have them on the show.

Only Dede and Kivi join us on the show, due to scheduling conflicts, but it bears mentioning that Kittenhead has not practiced or played since the beginning of the pandemic in March. They got together specifically to record the videos they submitted to the Emergency Marianarchy, simply because they love the shit out of Jub Jub’s, individually and as a band.

Kittenhead has long been a friend of Marianarchy and many of us on the podcast, professionally and personally, for many years. It really is a treat to get to have them on the show – one good thing to come out of the Age of Covid is our ability to still carry on the show with friends and musicians who live further away. Not ideal, nor what we want the show to be, but getting to interview some great friends is second best to having them play here live.
We hope you join us for Marianarchy at 6pm on Friday and 6pm on Saturday.
Thanks for listening and Fuck Your Day.
Lost Idea – Skate Fast, Leave a Pretty Corpse *FIXED* – S10 E35
Good friends and neighbors of the studio, Lost Idea, check in this week with the team over the internet. These Reno-bred skate punks have just dropped a new album (they still say that, right?) and threw a virtual release show with Momo Promo at the Elbow Room. If you missed it, you can catch some of those songs here, in the episode! (cause that’s how podcasts work)

Emergency Marianarchy: Keep Jub’s Alive is next weekend – 6pm on Friday, 10/23/20 and a whole DIFFERENT second day at 6pm on Saturday, 10/24/20. There will be a concurrent silent auction, starting early on Friday and running all the way until noon on 11/1/20 – a whole week to try to keep an eye on your prize. Details for the silent auction will be on the event page. And, of course, you can donate directly at the GoFundMe KJA page.
Thanks for Listening!
Roy Durand – Who The Hell Is He? – S10 E34
Greetings from fall, I guess. The weather has turned and so has our focus. All the way from Mobile, AL, we have drummer and songwriter, Roy Durand. Roy has never lived in Reno, has only been here once, and has no impending plans to return. So why are we featuring him on our show? Because he’s a pretty awesome dude, that’s why. (And Rev. Rory and he became friends in Louisiana about a decade ago), just before the podcast started.

This show is a lot of fun – he came prepared for a real music podcast, but quickly learned to play along. Roy is a real travelling troubador with lots of stories. Lots of laughs this time, and even Dogwater Dick was made uncomfortable for once.

Also, don’t forget about the upcoming Emergency Marianarchy: Keep Jub Jub’s Alive, running 6pm on Oct 23 and 24th with two unique video streams, with the silent auction running from 10/23 to 11/1. Over 40 acts from across town and across the nation, as well as dozens of items for the silent auction! For more information, please check out the event page and the GoFundMe page.

Jub Jub and The Riptide Bandits – Bittersweet – S10 E33
What a fucking week. I’m personally still processing a lot of things that have happened, personally and publicly, as I’m sure many of you are too.
For this week’s episode, we are joined by some of the creators and founders and owners of Jub Jub’s Thirst Parlor, Brian Smith, Faith Zayumeyer, Josh Smith and Lew Zaumeyer. From the playa to Wells Avenue, it’s a wild, passionate telling of a story and borderline meltdown that Jess Blaze would be proud of.

In an unprecedented decision, Marianarchy is going to put on an Emergency Marianarchy to help Jub’s out, in light of the difficulties in owning a venue in 2020. Furthermore, this October surprise will replace the traditional Winterball. Because we need to make it happen for our family, our home. If you are interest in helping, please check out the event page, donate on the GoFundMe page, or to donate art, merch or DIY goods, email keepjubsartailve@gmail.com.

Sadly, it was not all fun and drinking games this week. Reno lost a good friend and talented musician this weekend. Grouch. A guitarist for many Reno bands including The Riptide Bandits and Voted Best Band, Grouch was a beloved member of the Reno music and art community. His sudden passing is an incredible shock. All the music this week is from The Riptide Bandits, much of it from their unreleased second album, recorded here at Dogwater Studios. We hope you enjoy it.
Life is short; we love you. Tell your friends and family you love them.
Thanks for listening.
Matt Bushman – Flashbacks – S10 E32
It was the penultimate day of summer, the sky was clear of smoke and children were playing in the distance. That’s how I fondly remember the most recent episode, featuring the AWESOME Matt Bushman.

We catch up with Matt and talk about his new album “Younger Side of Old“, making music and staying connected in the pandemic, and growing out your hair cause you can. His newest tracks are just fantastic; mature songwriting and performances combined with top notch production. It is highly reccomended that you click the link above right now to listen or buy on your favorite format.

We had a lot of fun this week. Matt has a great sense of humor and is a blast to talk to, in addition to being an amazing musician. Kadillac Kim and Ian are able to make it to the show this week. Rick and Rory take a stroll (or two) down Inappropriate Memory Lane. And Nick, well, he’s just here for the kicks.
Thanks for listening!
And: Register to vote, kids.
Danny Horton – You Don’t Know “Jack” – S10 E 31
A blast from the semi-recent past: “Jack” Danny Horton! From all the way over in distant California, this favorite troubadour is still slaving away in the hit song mines, working to make you happy.

Also – the return of Kadillac Kim!!!! Yay!! We missed her terribly!!!!

Sorry for the belated labor day episode – i was laboring in the yard.
Thanks for listening!
