Quitter – Born to Whelm – S11 E36
Once upon a time, we started this show to not only give ourselves and our friends a forum to shamelessly self-promote and self-indulge; no – we also wanted to be a platform for new, new-to-you, or completely unheard of bands to connect with audiences and find their voice. Well, this week we welcome two-time loser guest Reice Guerrero back for more abuse with a new band, Quitter. With a name line that, what can go wrong?

Reice Guerrero
All jokes aside, this Carson City based band has some serious chops. Reice is joined by Nelson Carillo-Ortega, Dan Mason, and Travis Summers. There’s a lot of shredding, ‘harmonies’ and a rhythm section on fire in this indie rock band. They released their first full length LP this past summer, 7 Eyes On The Prize. Surprisingly, none of them wear an eyepatch.

Nelson Carrillo-Ortega
Venues and other bands take note: their dance card is open for the holiday season. So, if you are looking for a top notch, grooving rock band to round out a bill – look no further!

Daniel Mason
As always, if you like what we do here and want to support us (and get an extra song and segment with more ‘No Rory’ than ever), please check out the ol’ patreon page. Help put Uncle RIckey’s nephews and neices through college.

Thanks for Listening.
Action Bastard! – Barely Contained – S11 E35
Like a heat attack of the ear, we are here to assault you with the cacophonous chaos of Action Bastard! Like a fine dose of toilet vodka, they will leave your palate burning for more. It’s an exciting show – a full house of host and guests – we even had to put the butt trumpeteer in studio B, if you know what I mean.

Action Bastard! were the best band in the world, one upon a time, and pair well with over-aged cheese. As they say in the language of their people, “It doesn’t matter what you’ve done, only how you boil the squirrel.”

Thanks For listening!
Cryptillians – Cyclops Was A Monster – S11 E34
This week on WLP we (Rick and Nick) had the pleasure to hang loose with power trio Cryptilians . Not THE Cryptilians! If you hear someone get it wrong and say THE, take a drink!

Is grunge still a genre? Mudhoney still embraces the label, so if it’s good enough for them , I’ll embrace it. It’s definitely a big influence on this band. Cobain-esque you might say. There’s a pop punk vibe too. Indie, DIY aesthetics. Yada-yada-yada. Whatever genre blend they are, their songs are catchy, interesting, and they rock!

Lanny is the guitarist and front man . Pat on bass and Joey on drums. We find out how Joey, newest and hairiest member, had to beat a robot on drums upon auditioning for the group. Needless to say, all other applicants were sent home. Joeys hard rock, metal style of drumming was just what the guys needed . Now having ditched Hal3000, the Cryptilians (drink up!) are ready to play a bunch of shows they have scheduled through the rest of the year. They also plan some touring in the summer. You can find them on all the platforms. They’ve been working with Dogwater Dick on a new album and are pumped for the future!

We talk a bit about the last Murderock show (Nick and Rick attended). Farewell to Reno’s premier horror rock outfit. Sick bastards. Oh yeah! We meet our new intern Mouse! So far so good! Welcome aboard! The quiz was a lot of fun. These fellas are good at the funny. Thanks dudes!
Lastly, we want to send our love and condolences to the friends and family of local artist and beloved barfly Melisa Horton. Safe home Mae Mae. We love you.
S11 E33 – Ozymandias – Alabama Hot Pocket
Do you like scary music kids?! Heavy metal stoner doom your forte? Then we have a show for you!
Our good friends Sahara, Ray, Jake and (the boss?) Danny from Ozymandias grace the Dogwater studios , fresh off their blazing hot Marianarchy set! (especially for Sahara who performed in a Wilfred dog suit!)

Speaking of Marianarchy, we go over the highlights of the love fest that was the second weekend of our annual musical showcase. Ozymandias correct and assure me, (Nick) that I’m always pronouncing it wrong. (It’s Ozzy Man Dee Ass ,not Ozzy Mon Dee Oss, I think I get it from a Breaking Bad episode, but I digress.)

The kids are alright! Making families and collecting cats , they are a hot foursome of laughs and heavy riffs and subjects. They sound like the children of Clutch with a female lead singer … or is it the great grandchildren of Black Sabbath? Whatever analogy, they journey through an apocalyptic soundscape of doom. Then they’re a laugh riot. They brought 3 brand new songs from the new album coming out soon and are already working a third. Keep it up y’all, your music is great!

We get into it during the quiz, as we do. Man this band knows sketchy convenience stores!
Chewy has some great advice as usual and Dogwater Dick recaps his hot date with John Waters and the city of Oakland. Zombie Crawl’s coming up and then Halloween! There will be lots of awesome rock shows that weekend! Check the worst little grid for details! Thanks for listening!Life is short and we love you!

Michael Tegio – Glory Wholesome – S11 E32
When he’s not drumming with Nick Eng or his group The Delta Birds , multi instrumentalist Michael Tegio is writing and singing his own songs along with some very nice cover songs to boot! A fresh fellow of 19 years, Michael sings and plays acoustic guitar with the confidence of a seasoned vet. He has some pearls of wisdom here and there which was refreshing. Really a pretty wholesome show for us all in all: a soft R rating.

From the Monkees to Otters (not the mammal you’re thinking), Beatles and Beach Boys to the Worst Little Quiz, we had a fun time with great music by a young man we hope to see do great things! Seriously, you can tell Michael is a devoted singer songwriter who loves the history and craft of making music.

Speaking of the devoted! Marianarchy day 1&2 were a blast! We go over the good and the bad and look ahead to this weekends conclusion. Friday at Alturas on 4th street and Saturday at the 40 mile Saloon in midtown. A benefit for Reno Theatre. Hope to see you there! Life is short and we love you.
Franky’s Chop Shop – Nice Chops – S11 E31
Horror, surf, metal, industrial and punk rock; Franky’s Chop Shop has it all. It’s he perfect soundtrack for a hard rockin’ bikini beach bash from hell! We get into the making of this new project from the mad mind of Murderock‘s Franky (Chris Alexander).

This just in: (That’s right, you heard it here first) Keith (Jewett) still hates fun. He loves books though! He and Dogwater Dick talk about their book club “member”ship (inset Beavis and Butthead laugh… heh… I said ‘insert’) Drummer Carlos Pintor wasn’t able to make it (possibly on Franky’s operating table).

Joining Franky and Keith is their member from another band, the always delightful Freddy Ferox (Murderock/Sonic Dead/Candy Apple and the Razorblades) who is just along for the ride this week. He does provide stiff competition in the quiz (heh heh). Nick and Dick make sure to drive that bus off the gross cliff this week – not to yuck anyone’s yum, but: have fun.

Sadly, Murderock’s FINAL SHOW is going to be later this month – 10/30 at Alturas’ Cellar , with A Wormhole Could Kill Us All and Hired Fun. From the desk of Nick Ramirez: “I know I speak for the whole podcast when I say we’re truly going to muss you, Murderock. Y’all killed it. RIP”

We also get into the Marianarchy lineup this year – getting started tomorrow at The Bluebird at 6 pm! Please check it the event out for silent auction and please throw some love to the Marianarchy GoFundme page.

Wheatstone Bridge – Six Degrees – S11 E30
Guitars and violins and mandolins, oh my! Once again, we are happy to welcome the folk-tastic troupe known as Wheatstone Bridge to the studios. This time we get some familiar and new faces – Jill Marlene, Zeke Griffin, Gabe Hilton, Steve Barron, Natalie Laster Jones and Amy Willoughby all join us for a wildly tangential show. You know, the “yoozh.”

Gabe Hilton and Steve Barron
Although a music-heavy show, we do find time to delve into the Wheatstone DNA and overlapping connections of this folk music juggernaut. We get to know the new-to-the-show additions to the lineup and get to hear some wonderful harmonies about addiction, mothers, D&D and whiskey! (Whiskey makes a gust appearance for most of the show.)

We also get a chance to dial back the time machine and hear the origins of Natalie and Dogwater Dick’s life-long friendship sometime in the 1750’s, on a mud farm. Eventually, the conversation gets weird and we start talking about male prostitution… as we do.

Please check out Wheatstone Bridge’s folk/Americana stylings at their facebook page.
As a reminder – Marianarchy, a Benefit for Reno Theater starts this Friday 10/08/21 at The Bluebird – more about that next week!

Liam Kyle Cahill – S11 E30
Hello! It’s the Worst Little Podcast. This week we welcomed Liam Kyle Cahill to the studio and he brought a friend! We talked about Liam’s love life and the resulting songs. We get to know his roommate Kris who is to podcasting what a duck is to water. Kris is just as impressed and surprised by Liam’s performance as we are even though he lives with Liam. Liam’s new album, many years in the making, is coming out in November and Liam sets a goal of one release (sexually) each year for the next five. The quiz was a horse race, both had excellent skill answering even the darkest (and grossest) of questions. Liam is an open book. Chris pleads the fifth and We find out who is a brick wall. Press play!

Big thanks to Liam and Kris for being this week’s guests! Next week we have Wheatstone Bridge and a special Marianarcy preview. Thanks for listening!
Ed Adkins and Baldo Bobadilla – Stink Pickle
A very entertaining show is on deck for you this week. We welcome back the always entertaining Baldo Bobadilla (Drinking With Clowns/OffBeat Fest/FutureKind) and the benchmark of Reno style and fashion, Ed Adkins (Crawl Reno/Reno Zombie Crawl). As always, the conversation ranged far and wide – serial killers and vaccines and philanthropy and other drugs and poop and stuff. Totally normal show.

Never to let a good joke get in the way of music, we do also play a number of tracks from Drinking With Clowns, including a brand new song, “Reno 24/7”, featuring a number of Latinx artists from the Reno/Sparks area. It’s pretty much a love letter to Reno and hella rad. The conversation also veers into the realm of languages, barriers, access, and the importance of being multilingual.

Please check out the OffBeat Fest in the first weekend of October and The Reno Zombie Crawl later in the month. Max Volume – Coming Home – S11 E28
It’s almost time to check in with weather and sports at the 10s, but up first is your friend and mine: MISTER Max Volume! Stepping away from the radio booth and into the internet thingamabob, Max joins us once again for a lot of laughs, stories and even a few songs. If you are new to the show, the area or just don’t listen to terrestrial radio for the past 40 years, Max Volume is an iconic Reno radio personality who has literally helped move the dial on rock music and concerts in northern Nevada for almost half a century – and we don’t see him quitting anytime soon.

The conversation is really mostly about this one time Max took Johnny and Jesse (of Rigorous Proof) to LA when they were teenagers and evidently met the entire rock and roll hall of fame in person. It was a really wild trip and that’s all we talked about. Well – it was more a touchstone as we caromed off of each other tangent-ed down a conversational hallway. (I’m not entirely sure we ever finished a story). We also get a number of great songs out of Max, old and new – some even off of his new album “MV” Partway through the show, everyone’s favorite shredder, Michelle Belle of The Grimtones drops in and is wrangled into grabbing a mic.

Well – that’s about all I’ve got this week. If you like what we are doing or want a chance to get exclusive tracks and interviews not included in the main show, visit us over at Patreon and show us some love by becoming a sponsor. You can also keep up with all the weekly events around town by checking out the Worst Little Weekend and Weekday Grids over at our Instagram.

You are a beautiful audience; thanks for listening.
