One Ton Dually kicked in the door and had everyone dancing at Shea’s with Prince Robot and Eddie and the Subtitles, and yours truly (Kim here) put on the best damn tiki party (with SWIGS and Viva Revenge!) Reno has ever seen. It’s probably the only tiki party Reno has ever seen, but still! Thankfully we’re not burning and we’re not flooding! Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the recent natural disasters. We love you. This week we’re joined by JUST Rory and Rick because they told me not to come in. It’s okay because I really *was* scissoring the drummer from SWIGS. You guys were all spot on. ANYWAY! Y’all are in for some great instrumental surf punk, some talk about old naked Satanists, and jokes about me (Kadillac Kim, in case you’re not following along) hooking up with our podcast guests! We even have new interns to make fun of! Don’t worry guys, you too can be like me with enough ambition and a vagina… oh wait. As fun as it is to talk about incest and Satanism, we actually have a band here, so let’s get into some music.
Riptide Bandits have been around for a “really long time”, according to band members. They are so legendary they don’t even need to know when they formed. It is as if they always existed. They might be vampires.

Hello and welcome to this weeks episode of the Worst Little Podcast, broadcast from high above the city of Reno fucking Nevada!
Nick, Chewy, Rick and myself, Kadillac Kim, are here to bring you this week’s podcast! Regretfully (for him), the Reverend Rory Dowd is not around this week, but we get plenty of shots in at his expense! This week, as always, we have something really special for our listeners. We have not one, but TWO talented guests in the studio for your listening pleasure. And let me tell you, we talked about pleasure (*winknod*). But really, we have at least one and a half freaks in the room tonight. We’re talking about rope bondage, secret middle names, and how I got the name Kadillac Kim. Spoilers, it was in the parking lot of the Bunny Ranch when I was cornered by strippers in the bathroom of a double wide trailer. So that’s a thing… ANYWAY! We get off on the right foot with Reno country/Americana darling, Gina Rose. Gina will leave you with goosebumps after her first song. Don’t go anywhere or you’ll regret not hearing everything she has to say and sing!
Gina Rose is a singer-songwriter based out of Reno, Nevada. She formed her first band three years ago and has been playing guitar and writing music since she was a youngster (8years old!!). She began her music career opening for punk bands in Reno basements. Despite being a folk singer she won audiences over, with fans telling her that she’s just as heavy as the punk bands she opened for. As Nick points out, though, punk is just outlaw rock & roll and Gina is outlaw country. Her music can be found on her Bandcamp page and she has a new album in the works. She has a show coming up in Virginia City, like her on Facebook to be notified when the event is posted. Do yourselves a favor and don’t miss it or any of her shows! Hello and congrats to Famous Dave’s for being voted best Reno podcast! This week your second favorite and ONLY Worst Little Podcast has cooked up something really special for you. We have Skycats in the studio, FINALLY! Yours truly, Kadillac Kim, has been so excited to showcase them on the podcast that I have hardly been able to contain myself. To say that this duo is talented would be the understatement of the century. Or at least like the last few minutes. I’m very dramatic. But first, something completely different! We have on the phone all the way from Texas, Jordan from Portland band Coastlands. They took a minute out of their busy tour schedule to talk to us about their upcoming show at the Saint (while shooting a music video, for fuck’s sake). But back to Skycats! Skycats is a collaboration between Reno’s own Grace Hayes and Bazooka Zac. Both accomplished musicians in their own rights, together they make magic. Space magic. Or something. You heard Zac’s beats on last week’s podcast when we featured Redfield Clipper. Grace had a viral hit with the Reno Anthem, and while I’m certain she doesn’t want to be known for a silly diddy about her hometown, Reno is certainly grateful to be featured so positively by such a colossal local talent. So thanks, Grace!

This year’s theme is Socio-Political lyrics and each artist was given a random verse to work with. The show will be going down Saturday August 19th at 7pm. All artwork will be sold on a first come first serve basis, don’t miss out!!! All ages.

Alise Corbin, Jonathan Daniels, and Dave Hadel of SWIGS!
SWIGS was formed in Reno this year by guitarist David Hadel, bassist Jonathan Daniel, and drummer Alise Corbin. Dave has been busy promoting Reno’s music scene with his own show, All Independent Reno Podcast, Jonathan is a veteran of the Reno music scene, playing for several years with Reno band Riptide Bandits, and Alise has been playing percussion in Reno and Carson since she was a kid. SWIGS recently performed at the Saint, playing with Riptide Bandits and Basement Tapes. You can see their next show at Whiskey Dick’s Saloon in Tahoe in August. This week’s podcast welcomes Reno singer-songwriter and ukulele superstar Britt Straw, and local comedian Steve Van Pelt. We’ll get to Steve in a minute but first, let’s introduce you to Worst Little Podcast veteran Britt Straw! Britt was recently on the podcast with her band Seedless 10DenC and she’s here today solo to play us some original music and to talk to us about her important work with the U.S. Wolf Refuge. Britt has been an advocate and activist for Wolves for many years. She talked to us Monday about her passion for helping these powerful creatures and shed light on the problem of irresponsible wolf breeding and domestication.
Also on the show, we have Steve Van Pelt who hosts comedy open mic at Jimmy B’s Bar and Grill every Monday night! He’s here to talk to us about the many stand-up open night mics in Reno. There’s one almost every day of the week!

The Wolf Refuge in Reno has more than 100 acres of space to house wolves that are too wild to live in a home yet too domestic to live in the wild. A fundraiser for the U. S. Wolf Refuge is being held at The Potentialist Workshop July 29th. Details can be found here. Fun for the whole family!

Steve began his comedy career in Good Luck Macbeth’s production, Clown Bar. He was bitten by the performance bug and has been doing standup ever since. In case you missed it this week our host Nick Ramirez opened for punk legend Zander Schloss of the Circle Jerks at Shea’s with podcast and Reno favorite Johnny Harpo. Nick did one hell of an entertaining cover of MIA’s Paper Planes (there’s video!) and Johnny played a little of this and a little of that from his band Rigorous Proof, as well as his solo stuff.
