Skew Ring – The Shout-out Episode – S7 E37
S7 E37
Whoa baby boy did we have some fun with this week’s guest, Skew Ring! Little is known about this mysterious five piece band out of Reno, Nevada. That’s what we’re here for! By the end of this episode you will know far too much. Sorry, not sorry. Listen up to hear what the excellent Reno rock band, Skew Ring, has to say/play (spoilers: it’s mostly gay jokes).

Providing a fresh, apathetic sound in an apathetic marketplace is Drew – vocals; Cole/Honkey – bass; Jimmy “not gay but not afraid” – guitar; Adin/Cheech Marin -guitar; Baby-face Ben – drums.

Jimmy – guitarist and professional ring kisser. “He’s not gay but he’s also not afraid.”

Honkey and Jimmy
Skew Ring has been around a short time and even after this podcast, little is still known about these elusive beasts. They have recently played The Saint and The Holland Project and there’s talk of an EP coming out soon. Keep an eye on their Instagram for updates on where you can see them in the wild. And trust me, you should definitely see them in the wild.
Thanks for coming on the show, Skew Ring!
We hope the rest of you had awesome Thanksgiving’s like we did. Last week was pretty rad for Reno music. This week won’t be any different!

Get Bent! – S7 E31
Welcome to this week’s Worst Little Podcast!
Kim, Rory, and Rick are sitting down with part of the cast of the musical Get Bent: A Gender Bent Musical Review. In the studio we have Michelle, Stephanie, and the lovely Xelena – Empress of the Impossible – here to fill us in on their latest gender bending production. They answer the hard questions and share a few songs from the show. So listen up and play along at home.

Stephanie McMullen – Co-founder of Sisters Three Productions and co-producer of Get Bent

Michelle Calhoun – Co-founder of Sisters Three Productions and co-producer of the musical review, Get Bent.
For Sisters Three Productions co-creators/producers Michelle Calhoun and Stephanie McMullen, it was important to show that a part can be just as impactful when done by the opposite gender for which it was written, and at times even more powerful. “Get Bent” is an original production that will feature famous musical numbers but with a twist: everything is gender bent. Proceeds of this production will benefit Our Center, a local shelter for programs, services, and resources for the LBGTQ community in Reno.

Xelena – Empress of Impossible – starring in Get Bent

See Get Bent starting November 10th at The Potentialist Workshop. Show dates and tickets can be found here. This production is suitable for ages 13+, and the after dark show (Saturday at 10 pm) is suitable for ages 18+. Thanks to the cast of Get Bent for being on the show!

Greg Gilmore joined us to debut his new single, Who Am I?
But back to Basement Tapes. Basement Tapes describes their music as retro, 60s, raw, high-energy garage rock. Revisiting a time when music had music had soul, with post-modern punk attitude, melodic, grooving bass lines, thunderous rolling drums, powerful crashing guitar riffs and a harmonious couple on vocals. Basement Tapes plays straight-forward simple rock and roll.
