Low La La – Let’s Really Focus on the Band – S6 E17
Happy ‘Merica Time!
The Worst Little Podcast – S6 E16
WARNING: Do not operate heavy machinery or operate a motor vehicle whilst listening to the songs on this podcast.
We are pleased to welcome Hannah Etchison and Cody Thomas of Low La La back onto the podcast this week. Our favorite sweet sweet songbirds came back on right before the last tour of their single lives! You can catch their mini-tour kickoff show up in Virginia City this Saturday at The Canvas Cafe. They are just going out for a bit for the summer before coming back home to focus on more domestic things.
If you haven’t caught them before, Low La La is a singer-songwriter duo from Reno NV specializing in original tunes for the stringed instruments and simple percussion. Also whistling even. They write some terribly beautiful music together with thoughtful, often personal, lyrics. The two of them, Hannah and Cody, are also a blast personally and especially indulgent of their friends, as you will hear on the show.
Go see their show. Cody is a potter and will have many of his wares for sale at the event. Go like them on Facebook. These two are a great local talent. Support that shit.
Thanks for Listening!
Athena McIntyre and the Lost Boys – Gold Star – S6 E16
Aw. Yeeah.
The Worst Little Podcast – S6 E14
Hope you didn’t miss us too much over the break – but we missed you! While we were out, we found some troublesome buskers hanging around and decided to give them a shot: Athena McIntyre and the Lost Boys walked into the studio this week and owned it, like they been here all along.
Athena McIntyre, Eli Paxton and Aaron Long make up this breathtaking trio. They are gearing up for a lengthy tour of the Southwest soon, but you can catch them this weekend all around Reno and Carson. Gotta listen to the show to get the deets!
Summers getting started – lots of great things happening in the community. Go see stuff!
Thanks for listening!
Dusty Miles and the Cryin’ Shame – Bringin’ Country Back – S6 E15
Yee-effing-haw!
The Worst Little Podcast – S6 E13 – Download Link
This week, we roll up our slee, stick some straw in our teeth and hold on tight for a humdinger of a good time … a really filthy, filthy humdinger. Dusty Miles, Rico, Chris and Danny from Dusty Miles and the Cryin’ Shame stop in to give us some pointers about the finer things of country. Not that crap on the radio, but true American music.
We also have the pleasure of having Jamie Crush, Reno based artist and model, who is organising “Solitude – A Benefit for My Journey Home”. My Journey Home is an organization that seeks to help veterans and former inmates re-integrate with society in any number of ways. The event will be on June 10th at the Isles Teahouse in Midtown.
Lastly, we are changing format to two shows a month, instead of weekly. Sorry, loyal listeners, but this is a chance for us to spend more time on shows, giving you a better product. Thank you for understanding.
Donner and the Cannibals – Bitchrock! – S6 E14
It’s not angry women….
The Worst Little Podcast – S6 E12
In the ceaseless ebb and flow of the creation and destruction cycle of Reno bands, you sometimes get something intriguing and unique. Other times, you’re left with music like Donner and the Cannibals, a Reno punk/folk trio. Donner and the Cannibals is comprised of Craig Schrader, Rachel Barr and Aaron Foelsh, all previous guests of the show in other bands.
Rick calls it “bitchrock” but Nick and the Rev know protest punk when we hear it. Good stuff – pretty and angry.
Please don’t forget to join us at Marianarchy XII this weekend! Friday and Saturday, Nick and Reverend Rory will be hosting the 30+ band event as a benefit for Kula Dunn, good friend of the community and ECV, who had his legs broken in a hit and run incident last year. Help us raise him some walking money. As usual, there will be a silent auction and raffle..

The Potentialists – Grilled Cheese and Margaritas – S6 E11
Starring our youngest guest yet!!!
Worst Little Podcasat – S6 E11
The Potentialists of the Potentialist Workshop invade Dogwater Studios this week. Mac Esposito (Bazooka Zoo), Chriselle Vinson, Kelsey Sweet and Axiom Pantoja join support to talk about what the shell a Potentialist and the Workshop is all about. Mostly though, we talked with young Ax. And he spoke the truth!
Mac plays us some solo stuff, some of which are songs he plays with Bazooka Zoo, friends of the show and Reno Space Rockers. Mac joined their lineup a while ago and the sound is out of the galaxy. You can catch them at their next show at The Saint on 5/27/2016.
His lovely wife, Chriselle, whose name I butcher repeatedly throughout the show, is both wonderful and the house masseuse at the Potentialist Workshop. Stop by and check them out- they want to make your art a reality!
Stop by Foxy First Friday this week with my very good friend, Jen Scaffidi. You know and love her. Also don’t forget Reno Sculpture Fest, happening downtown Friday thru Sunday. And – Word to your Moms. Happy Mothers’ Day!
Thanks For Listening!
Serenity Awaits – BFE Comes to Town – S6 E10
Are you ready for this? Finally?
The-Worst-Little-Podcast-2016-04-25
Hello fans and dedicated listeners!! Many apologies for the delay of the show. Serenity Awaits has been patiently waiting for their turn in the show. Ben, Chris, Charlie and Herman join us this week and it’s worth the wait.
These guys traveled a fair distance to join us and brought their best… well really, they’ve brought about 2 1/2 hrs worth of original material, but showed off only the best of the best. We have a lot of fun with Serenity Awaits. These guys have stories for days. Also – Herman speaks very little English so it’s a great chance to hear Rick improv his Spanish translations for Quiz questions.
Lots of great stuff happening in Reno right now: Foxy First Friday featuring Jen Scaffidi is this week, hosted by The Rev; just a few more weeks until Marianarchy XII: A Benefit for Kula Dunn; “King Lear” runs at Good Luck MacBeth until 5/21; Reno Sculpture Festival next weekend – all over downtown Reno; and much much more. Get off yer butt and go see some stuff!

Heard of Elephants? – You Got Pictures? – S6 E9
Can I get a little love?
The Worst Little Podcast – s6 e9
Trust Reno music to always throw something new and off the beaten band path. Heard of Elephants? is a wonderful conglomeration of some veterans of the Reno music scene. Jonathan Rolling, Matt Bad, Matt Karr and Lars Bateman form up this Voltron of folk-funk-punk-jazz. No, really! I didn’t believe them when they told me either, but that really captures a part of what’s going on with Heard of Elephants?.
Unfortunately, Heard of Elephants? does not have a website, but you can track them down over on the Facebookery and find out their show calendar. Their next show is down at the old Studio on 4th and you may just want to check that shit out, knowatimsayin?
In other happenings around ‘town’ Sassafrass Eclectic Food Joint in Carson City is hosting another Sassabration Diversity Festival on August 16th. Reverend Rory and Princess Bombs went down to check it out last year and had a great time, but this year, they are looking for more bands! That’s right – they want you! They are having an open call for entertainment at their celebration of Diversity, Community and Equality. Check out Sassabration application and contact details in the link.
Hear of Elephants is some good times. GO see them play live and buy them drinks. A stampede upon your ears. they are. Totally worth it.

Roxxy Collie – Slow Jam – S6 E8
Today was a good day…
The Worst Little Podcast – S6 E8 – Download Link
Roxxy Collie joins us this week on the show. A new Reno rock band, Roxy Collie is a conglomeration of other Reno bands and bring some serious talent to bear. Of course, Mr. “I’m in 8000 Bands” Nick Ramirez is in this latest project on drums. He backs up Steve Barron, Jon Cornell, Pat Rhea and the vocal stylings of the always impressive, Margy Ford.
We drink. We laugh. We tell an awful lot of dick jokes. Actually, no. Well, yes, there are dick jokes, but we didn’t have much time for talk, since the band had to kick our ears’ asses with awesome music. Coincidentally, the band is named after American Orinthologist Roxie Collie Laybourne. Since Nick was in the band, he couldn’t host, so the WLP Webmaster, Lord Stryse stops in to take the third chair. It’s always good to have him here with us in the studio!
