Worst Little Podcast – Episode 018

This episode is such a bad idea….

What a day, what a day! This week’s Worst Little Podcast in the World is a special episode – the first of a two-part investigative journalism expose booze fest in the studio! We FINALLY have finished compiling your picks for the Top Ten All-Time Reno Bands and present the first half of that list This episode with more to come next week. We actualy recorded two episodes this week so that Rick could take some time off for a vacation next week. Part one includes 7 Seconds, Fall Silent, The Shames, Orange Peel, B.O.H.J., War Maggots, Keyser Soze
Since it was such a special show, we opened up our doors to a lot of people this week and it’s kind of a madhouse. We have Squeak, Christine Irma Geddon, and Jess Blaze form Guerilla Productions on talking about bringing live music back to Burning Man and their upcoming Reno Block Party. Part one includes 7 Seconds, Fall Silent, The Shames, Orange Peel, B.O.H.J., War Maggots, Keyser Soze

Felix Polanski and Bullet Bar Dave stop in to share the libations. Da Kodiak and Cerrybear Jess are in the house too. Nick gets all loosey goosey and plays musical microphones all hour and Rory slowly looses his shit as he looses control. No time for the Worst Quiz Ever – we gots too much music and booze to get to!  Part one includes 7 Seconds, Fall Silent, The Shames, Orange Peel, B.O.H.J., War Maggots, Keyser Soze
Also, we talk up the BEST event happening in the Washoe Valley this weekend – the (Un)Discovered 2011 Backyard BBQ! We throw a rockshow in Rick’s backyard. Free all-day event, the whole city is invited, come see some of your favorite local bands and get you some barbecue! Listen to the whole episode to find out the address – hell, think of this podcast as your personal, gold embossed invitation.

And, as always, thanks for listening.

Worst Little Podcast – Episode 017

Mr. Vague

Buy my record! … damn kids…

We’re late to the party, but RIP Macho Man. You will live in out hearts forever.

Great episode this week with Mark Earnest in the studio. He talks with us about his current projects including Dirt Communion and the Vague Choir, we listen to some previously unreleased Vitriolics, and well, bullshit about things that have nothing to do with him. Like Marianarchy, for one!

Nick has great news about how much we raised at Marianarchy over the past weekend. We all talk about how much fun we had there too, except for Rick. He’s against fun. He spent the whole weekend recording and mixing bands in the studio. Cause he thinks that’s fun. Cause he’s a fag nerd. Rory tells a bizzare story about someone, then figures out that he totally had the wrong person and is a jackass. Chewie… well, the less said about him, the better.

Speaking of jackasses… we were supposed to have a mysetery caller during the show. But then he flaked. Maybe he thought we meant next week…

NEXT WEEK: Part one of a Worst Little Podcast cliffhanger!

Worst Little Podcast – Episode 13

Aversion Therapy

Rocking out obscure covers since … well, we forgot to ask….

We’re the Worst Little Podcast/ talkin’ out of our ass!

That’s just a taste of the totally freaking awesome song Aversion Therapy wrote for us. They went back and listened to the archives and dug up a bunch of dirt to ridicule your favorite Reno whores with – thanks, guys! As the man says, ‘sleep with one eye open.’ We’ll be seeing ya. Soon!

Really though lots of fun this week. Nick talks about his suprise bachelor party last weekend, Rory reveals some disturbing elements of his sexual awakening as a young man and Rick zings us all with samples on his fancy soundboard. Chewie is MIA once again, working hard for the corporate masters in Elko or Winnemucky or some other godforsaken ghost town fine community in the Great State of Nevada. The guys from Aversion Therapy showed up with intact senses of humor and threw down some pretty great songs, like ‘Tequilabotoomy’ and ‘You wont Return My calls, So I Put a Spycam on Your Dog’. They are a unique band, writing one song a month based on suggestions on their facebook page. Go check them out either there or at their website; it may be the best 20 minutes you spend all half-hour!

Worst Little Podcast – Episode 012

Them Sonsabitches

Them Sonsabitches in their natural habitat.

“I want it on my tits.”

Engaging, no? If you want to know more, you have to listen to the whole show. This week’s episode is part rock and roll and part that certain kind of magic that only happens between eight guys in a dimly lit room.We ended up having a great ashow with Them Sonsabitches. This was a first for our little fake radio show – we had a whole band in with us at once. We fit all Them Sonsabitches and Reno Whores in one tiny room. The Dogwater Studios never smelled more like dogwater (at least since Rory moved out. ed.- Rick would like to state for the record that Rory’s aroma was more like ‘goat and feet’.).

Scotty, Mike, Jon, Nate and Grayson are a bunch of artfag posers fun bunch of guys to hang out with and when it comes to music, should look for a second day job  lay down some righteous tracks. They are a band of trailer-born brimstone-eatin’ rockers. Them Sonsabitches enjoy energy drinks, guns, chewing bubble gum and long walks on the beach. Their dream fan is someone who enjoys their backpack, being smug, air guitaring and has a great smile.

Check out Them Sonsabitches this Friday with Pinky Polanski, The Regan Years and Mary Jane Rocket at The Alley in Sparks. Show starts at 9pm, $10. Advance tickets are on sale at The Alley and directly from the bands themselves. Advance tickets are only $8. Send any of the bands a message on Facebook or email, or get out of the house and stop by The Alley.

Worst Little Podcast – Episode 010

Sophie Ralston

Fun size kick-assery!

Smelly boys beware! (of Reno whores)

This week on the Worst Little Podcast in the World, Sophie Ralston visits us on the studio. Talk about a dumb blonde! She was a fantastic guest – we didn’t have to play too nice after all! Chewie is still out in the hinterlands of Eastern Nevada, so after a play-by-play account of Rory’s failure as a parent and his daughter’s subsequent introduction to recreational OTC, Sophie entertains us with some tracks she brought in.  Later she plays some LIVE music too. Ever the good sport, Kung Fu Sophie is the first person to take the Worst Quiz in the Wold. We learn that Sophie has some unusual talents and doesn’t read anything without big pictures! Rick restrains his inner (and outer) tech nerd, and Nick… well, anything of importance that happened to Nick really gets steamrolled by all of the awesomeness and kick-assery.

Worst Little Podcast – Episode 009

Thank all 99 of you for listening or subscribing!

So, the site had a little structural issues this past week, but the foundation seems to be stable again. For now.
DAMN YOU TECHNOLOGY!

Anyway, we have an …interesting… show this week*. Not only is Josh Martin out in the field again, but Rory also failed in booking Tree Woods on the show this week (he’ll be on in the near future, so keep looking for that). Lots of fun criticizing his obvious faults throughout the whole show and more of him talking out his ass. We listen to some recordings of the Madorians at the Dogwater Studios. Rick nerds out on microphones a couple of times, so get out your towels all you dirty technophiles! Nick and Rick fight valiantly to be the best speller on the show. and we review some site statistics over the last month.

Next Week: Sophie Ralston

* – I actually was planning to write a longer bit about the show, but in addition to the website issues the Notorious R.A.D. was in the hospital this week. All is well, she just had an adventure with cough syrup and was admitted overnight for monitoring. No permanaent health concerns, but she says she had some crazy dreams – more on that next week too.

I don’t know why I even show up anymore…

Our podcast goes to ’11’. Felix, from Pinky Polanski, invades our studio with his pinko ways, tries to start a revolution and pretty well succeeds in taking over the show from the get go. We try to keep him on track, but it’s about as productive as throwing papertowels at a thunderstorm. Nick and Felix perform an original tune and break Nick’s guitar!!

We also have a live studio audience for the first time. “The Kodiak” and “Jessalicious” hang with Rick in the tech room, chiming in occasionally. Also, our very first sponsors! Somewhere in the middle of this chaotic party we actually have a show, I swear.

WLPEpisode 007

Steak. You want it.

Hey hey hey, the gang’s all here for a very special Steak and Blowjob Day episode!

We’ve missed him. YOU’VE missed him. Back by popular demand, our resident Reno music historian Josh Martin is back in the house! He’s been out in Elko making somebody else a lot richer – so listen and find out what that’s all about.

We all make misakes. Really – ALL of us. We correct ourselves for posterity and your edification. No musical guests this week, but Josh brought in an old trackl (actually recorded on cassette in a warehouse) by an early Reno hardcore band, Short Fuse. Plus, Rickey gives us an unmastered teaser from the upcoming Ditch the Pilot album.

We also want to hear back from youy guys this week. Nick wants you to let us know what your Top Ten Reno bands are, past or present. Drop us a line on the Facebook page, we’ll make a compliation of all the votes and devote an episode (in a couple weeks) to some of those fine folks with the most votes. Rory announces a contest to design our logo. That’s right, break out your crayons, cameras, or digital markers and if we like it, we’ll use it and maybe give you a t-shirt.( And by that I mean, one of our own t-shirts since we don’t have a logo to put on a t-shirt.)

Next Week: Felix Polanski

Thanks for listening!

WLP – Episode 006

When Nick gets a get, he GETS A GET!

This week we have not one, but TWO premeire creative talents from the cesspool known as the Reno scene. We didn’t even have time to talk about ourselves and all the cool stuff we did last week.

The reclusive and elusive George Pickard of the Atomiks and the just plain fucking wierd complimentary XTEVION of Schizopolitans stop by the studio to bullshit with us, talk about their upcoming show on March 11th, and play some NEVER BEFORE RELEASED TRACKS! That’s right – Worst Little Podcast EXCLUSIVES!!!! The Atomiks and Schizopolitans like you’ve never heard them before!

NEXT WEEK – Episode 7: Return of the Chewbacca

If you are enjoying this podcast – please remember to find us on Facebook and tell your friends since we have no budget for promotions. 😀

WLP-Episode 005

The long awaited fifth episode of the Worst Little Podcast!

The non-stop value-added entertainment rollercoaster continues to give you more! Nick and Rory have been busy worker bees recently. Nick discovers something about his sexuality brings in some old cuts from his old band, Source, for us all to enjoy. He has a lot of irons in the fire and at least one will be featured in an upcoming issue of the Reno News and Review. Rory reveals a secret. A really big secret. It’s awesome and even this blog post is tempting fate. WLP Webmaster Shaun Burks sits in and finds out what his true role in the show is. Rickey stays pretty quiet during most of the show (as well he should). And we play a game in-studio!
