The metal machinists, Resistance, are in the studio this week. Young dudes with a heavy sound that truly turns some of us around on this whole metal thing. Kenner Casteel-Snider (Vocals), Levi Bower (Drums), Cody Sprague (Guitar), Eric Terry (Guitar) and Elijah Frandsen (Bass) are the crew of Resistance. They’ve been playing with a lot of great acts in town over the last couple of years and are building a solid following. They also like dick jokes. and gay jokes. Lots and lots of dick up in here this week.

We take a call at the top of the show to chat with Alon Burton of our favorite local boys in the big city heroes, Merkin! Merkin is coming back to Reno fot a two night limited engagement during the OffBeat Festival, happening all over Reno Nov 5-8. This is an amazing event with 13 venues and dozens of acts, local and regional. Your favorite local bands and performers will be out in force rocking hard until late late night. If you haven’t already purchased your all-access wristbands, you will want to ASAP. You really don’t want to miss it.

It’s good to be back! It’s good to see ya my friends! A lot of stuff going on in the Worst Little world. You’ll get a big earful out of Dogwater Dick about his ga-mping right at the top of the show. But enough about him! We are lucky enough to have spent a sweaty, filthy and immoral hour with the boys from the scattering, a hardcore/metal band from Reno NV that has been playing shows for about a year. Jim, John, Josh, Jason and … Brian… make up the band and they are pretty monstrous – heavy stuff. Wow! This episode is tight like your mom money clip! We welcome Enslave the Creation, a Reno progressive death metal band, to the show. It’s literally what happens when you combine prog rock and deathmetal.

They come in all nice and congenial and not too smelly, then proceed to lay down enormous face-melting metal! Structured, clean, practiced and blazing. Holy fuckballs, Batman! “Are you ready for brutality?” was actually asked of us during the show. We were not entirely ready – and all this was sans drummer and vocals! Enslave the Creation is Eric Marks, Mike Stewart, Chris Portugal, and Jared Klein. Klien was unable to make it on account of being a loser living in Sacramento, but they muddle on with an excellent track of him nailing all of their songs. They are perpetually auditioning for a lead singer. They’ve never found quite the right match in 5 YEARS of playing shows. If you think you’ve got what it takes, hit them up.

Also in studio are Cameron Shirey, Matt Biondi, Ryan Kelly and Bill Ware, a group of Reno actors, writers and directors who have collaborated in a short film project called “Battle of the Band”. It’s about a contest with only one contestant, but not like you think. Primary shooting begins in May With an expected showing of the film in July at the Good Luck Macbeth theater.
