S9 E22

Greetings and welcome back to the Worst Little Podcast! Your hosts Rick, Nick “I’m Too High for This” Ramirez, Chewbacca and Kadillac Kim are back after a little vacation to bring you an exciting show featuring the immensely talented singer-songwriter, Ryan James, and the partial cast/crew of Good Luck Macbeth’s The Play About a Dick. We’re talking about dicks this week so buckle up. This episode is definitely NSFG (Not Safe for Grandma). Press play!

First up is our musical guest Ryan James, who is prepping for his first full length album release this Friday at West Street Market with the Grimtones and Jake Houston. Ryan has put together quite the Reno super group to back him. You’re in for a treat Friday night at this all ages show.

We were also joined by Ashley, Dave, and Amanda Alvey who is the director of the newest show at Good Luck Macbeth, The Play About a Dick. From the event page: Good Luck Macbeth is proud to produce the US premiere of Aaron Wilton’s hilarious and provocative work, “The Play About a Dick”. A middle-aged woman, Enid, meets a younger man online for sex. But what starts as a simple rendezvous becomes a darkly comedic exploration of vulnerability, intimacy and empathy. After an unpredictable reaction, things become chaotic for Enid as her life gradually spirals outward. The play about a dick. examines themes of communication, guilt, kindness, solitude, gender roles, human connection, post-truth reality and existential vacuity. Its also a play about a dick.

Thanks to the band for being on the show! We had a great time interviewing you three and we’ll be looking out for your upcoming shows. Follow them on Facebook so you can too! Salythian rocks. Literally.

In other news, I would like to give a shout out to Headquarters Bar and to the bands that played Saturday night to raise money for the victims of the Las Vegas shooting. SWIGS, One Ton Dually, and Riptide Bandits slayed that room and raised $360. If you haven’t visited Headquarters yet, get your tail down there. It is Reno As Fuck in the best way. If you’re inclined to help your fellow Renoites make downtown greater than ever, head over to their fundraiser page. There are some pretty sweet rewards, but really, the only reward I need is HQ staying open so I can see more rad shows like Saturday night’s.

This week your to do list includes some kick ass shows, and one incredibly bizarre event staring Cory Feldman. Weren’t expecting that, were ya… Check out my picks for the week:

Welcome to a whole new year, mofos!

The Worst Little Podcast in the World S6 E34

We hope you all had a happy and safe new year; we sure did. Starting things off with a bang is Silver, self-described as “American Roots Music” and  featuring the musical stylings of Adam Landis, Brendon Lund, Jeff Knight, Josh Kisor and Greg Gilmore. Unfortunately, Mr. Landis was not able to attend this evening’s recording as he was indisposed. “Indisposed, HOW?” you say? Well, according to all best information he “split his face open on NYE”. Not the Landis moneymaker, no!!!!! However, the band was still able to pull of a couple songs without his talents. (We wish him a speedy recovery)

brendon lund, bassist for Silver

Lund

In addition to some canned music with Landis on it, we got the rest of they guys in Silver to play us a couple songs live! It’s really some good stuff with strong music. This is high energy, high talent, Reno supergroup material; they’ll will make you wanna dance, drink or argue – and possibly all three. With a number of high-profile shows under their belt, they are looking forward to playing with Failure Machine and Joan and the Rivers at The Loving Cup on Feb 17. You can also catch Greg Gilmore at The Jungle on Jan 27 and in a short set this Friday at Foxy First Friday at the Foxy Olive ! The man gets around.
