This week we have half, or possibly two fifth’s, of Triflin’ Bitches: The mild-mannered Scott Sherwood on bass and local lunatic Logan Bongiovani on guitar and vocals. Unfortunately, the normally rock-solid drummer, Scott Hauder, couldn’t make it at the last minute (Nick adds some shakers and beatbox here and there). Also absent from the proceedings are the fingers and voices of John Frederick, the keyboardist. John has taken a gig in Hawaii and will be reuniting with the Bitches in half a year (for some half-naked, bad-decision fueled show, no doubt). In the meantime, the band will be shaking things up, having fun with new arrangements of their songs, and adding a female vocalist to the mix. Stay tuned for more on this developing story.

Logan gives us the low down on their new EP “Eu De Vistige” out now on bandcamp.  We have a fun quiz and we meet our new intern Percy! We also get some fully produced studio tracks!

This Saturday 1/28/23 we will see you at our LIVE 500th episode show at Cypress in midtown with DJ StaxOfWax, Heterophobia, Elephant Rifle, the WLP crew, giveaways and fun! Come celebrate this milestone with us!

What started as a Halloween Cramps cover band just over a year ago has become one of the hottest and most talked about Reno rock bands in quite some time: I’m talking about the haute trash rock group Pussy Velour! With Wolfgang on vocals, Claire on electric guitar, Cale bass and Quinn drums, Pussy Velour is an electrifying garage rock band with mad scientist chemistry.

Wolfgang Hendrix wearing a gold lame shirt with black and white war paint under his eyes
Wolfgang

Wolfgang is no stranger to the spotlight, having played in bands since he was 14, but his bandmates are relatively new to the art of rocking. Claire’s first time on stage was their first show; You couldn’t tell though. They feel like a band that has already toured the country and are ready to tear it up – any time, any place.

Claire screaming and playing guitar
Claire

Pussy Velour boldly brings it in the tradition of The Cramps, Iggy Pop, The Ramones, and more obscure sounds like Dub Narcotic Sound System meets The John Spencer Blues Explosion in a Dancehall style, but punker.

Bassist Cale, in all black with an open button-up shirt from a lowered perspective
Cale

Its rock and roll for the people, embracing the beautiful freaks, weirdos, and misfits. Let your flag fly!
If it’s not dangerous it’s not real rock and roll. Their live shows aren’t planned; whatever happens is the show, keeping each performance spontaneous and unique – dirty, sexy, wild, fun and in your face!

Quinn wearing black leathers at the drumkit

We also recap the fantastic Reno Punk Rock Flea Market: Fleas The Season event and this weeks quiz is a gem – a sexy, sexy gem.

And we’re back! (once again…) Shifting directly into high gear, we have most of a great, high-energy band on this week. 3/4 of Last One Down was able to join us in the studio and play some tracks from their latest release, “Failing Dreams.” If you like 90s punk; if you like pop punk; if you like skate punk, you’re going to dig their sound.

Last One Down has been around for a couple of years, but have been making some waves for themselves in 2022. They are ‘of an age’ of many of the fans and hosts of the show and their music reflects that – nostalgic and new at the same time. The Rev felt transported, back to the 90s when life was irresponsible and credit scores were a thing other people worried about. For the regular listeners of the show – these guys came ready to play (and I don’t think they’re listeners, just naturally a little twisted). We also have a segment where we try some Taco Truck flavored jelly beans – this is peak fake radio stuff!

Josh

Lost of shows on the calendar to promote this week: First up, we want to make sure everyone knows about the D.R.I. 40th anniversary tour at the Elbow Room on October 25. Get your tickets now and lets all show up for some great fucking punk rock. This weekend though our pick is One Ton Dually with Heterophobia and Deaf Animals over at the Cellar Stage on Friday Night. The very next night, check out an exclusive engagement at the Cellar Stage with Voted Best Band & Guests (fuckin love those guys). …Honestly, it’s late and we promoted a bunch of shows at the end of this episode, so … listen for yourself (and we’ll post links as we get closer to everything, like Marianarchy and The Flea.)

Horror, surf, metal, industrial and punk rock; Franky’s Chop Shop has it all. It’s he perfect soundtrack for a hard rockin’ bikini beach bash from hell! We get into the making of this new project from the mad mind of Murderock‘s Franky (Chris Alexander).

This just in: (That’s right, you heard it here first) Keith (Jewett) still hates fun. He loves books though! He and Dogwater Dick talk about their book club “member”ship (inset Beavis and Butthead laugh… heh… I said ‘insert’) Drummer Carlos Pintor wasn’t able to make it (possibly on Franky’s operating table).

Keith Jewett with an unruly beard and moustache sitting in front of a microphone and smiling into a camera.
Remember: Keith hates fun

Joining Franky and Keith is their member from another band, the always delightful Freddy Ferox (Murderock/Sonic Dead/Candy Apple and the Razorblades) who is just along for the ride this week. He does provide stiff competition in the quiz (heh heh). Nick and Dick make sure to drive that bus off the gross cliff this week – not to yuck anyone’s yum, but: have fun.

Sadly, Murderock’s FINAL SHOW is going to be later this month – 10/30 at Alturas’ Cellar , with A Wormhole Could Kill Us All and Hired Fun. From the desk of Nick Ramirez: “I know I speak for the whole podcast when I say we’re truly going to muss you, Murderock. Y’all killed it. RIP”

We also get into the Marianarchy lineup this year – getting started tomorrow at The Bluebird at 6 pm! Please check it the event out for silent auction and please throw some love to the Marianarchy GoFundme page.

Hello everyone. It is June and we are already in the middle of some nightmarish heatwave! But that isn’t important; what’s important is this week’s wonderful guest: Pierre Marche, here with us with his third EP and his muse/sort-of producer, Loren! Pierre’s music is currently streaming on all platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, BandCamp, etc.), so if you like what you hear, be sure to check him out on there! .

Pierre Marche

Throughout the wonderfully terrible pandemic, unlike a lot of people who just sat around complaining about lockdown, Pierre and Loren traveled a bunch, and even went to Mexico; Pierre was also very musically active during COVID, and he worked on a lot of great things (some of which you’ll get to hear about if you listen to the episode).

Loren the Muse

Anything else you wanna know, you’re just gonna have to listen to the show. Not that you don’t already plan on it, this stuff isn’t even that interesting to read anyways, but in case you were indecisive, listen to the show, hear some great music and the normal…chaos of everyone! – RaggMopp

“You ever stare at people weirdly and listen to a song together?” is the best question of this episode and it wasn’t even asked by a host.

The Randy Savages "All My My Life" album art featuring a caricature drawing of professional wrestler Randy Savage and wrestling artefacts
The Randy Savages “All My Life”

“The Randy Savages are a pop-punk wrestling collective who do not identify as a band, they prefer “Punk Rock Wrestling Accompaniment.”” They emulate and create odes dedicated to the life and times of legendary superstar of the 80s and 90s professional wrestling circuit, Randy Savage. Truly a pinnacle of art and sophistication that we had the privilege of bearing witness to – ok, really, the show is a shitshow, like any other, but a really exciting one! 90% more yelling!

The latest The Randy Savages album was recorded at Noise Eater Recordings and is available on Voted Best Records’ bandcamp page. Really, though: It’s everywhere. Just search it and it will magically appear. The latest release “All My Life” continues the saga of the struggle and life of their namesake

Originally, this show was booked to feature Jesse Williams and his solo album, “I Tried” (also recorded at Noise Eater and out from Voted Best Records), so… check that out too. But these The Randy Savages just took over everything. oh yeah! We did also get to spend some time with the brains and talent behind Noise Eater Recordings, Olav Tabatabai, who seems like a genuinely nice and talented fellow. No idea of why he’s working with these weirdos.

Well, that’s a lot of pictures and very few words – I feel good about that.
