S7 E25

Hello and welcome to this weeks episode of the Worst Little Podcast, broadcast from high above the city of Reno fucking Nevada!

Nick, Chewy, Rick and myself, Kadillac Kim, are here to bring you this week’s podcast! Regretfully (for him), the Reverend Rory Dowd is not around this week, but we get plenty of shots in at his expense! This week, as always, we have something really special for our listeners. We have not one, but TWO talented guests in the studio for your listening pleasure. And let me tell you, we talked about pleasure (*winknod*). But really, we have at least one and a half freaks in the room tonight. We’re talking about rope bondage, secret middle names, and how I got the name Kadillac Kim. Spoilers, it was in the parking lot of the Bunny Ranch when I was cornered by strippers in the bathroom of a double wide trailer. So that’s a thing… ANYWAY! We get off on the right foot with Reno country/Americana darling, Gina Rose. Gina will leave you with goosebumps after her first song. Don’t go anywhere or you’ll regret not hearing everything she has to say and sing!

Gina Rose is a singer-songwriter based out of Reno, Nevada. She formed her first band three years ago and has been playing guitar and writing music since she was a youngster (8years old!!). She began her music career opening for punk bands in Reno basements. Despite being a folk singer she won audiences over, with fans telling her that she’s just as heavy as the punk bands she opened for. As Nick points out, though, punk is just outlaw rock & roll and Gina is outlaw country. Her music can be found on her Bandcamp page and she has a new album in the works. She has a show coming up in Virginia City, like her on Facebook to be notified when the event is posted. Do yourselves a favor and don’t miss it or any of her shows! On behalf of the Worst little podcast, thank you miss Gina Rose for your time, some great conversation, and for the bone chilling tunes. You’re going places .

Also in the studio this week is Pat Shillito, local emcee and comedian who has worked at the Laugh Factory (formerly Catch a Rising Star) at the Silver Legacy. Pat also hosts open mic comedy nights all over Reno. Listen to Pat’s quick and dry wit as he discusses the major things going on in the Reno comedy scene.

What a weird episode…

Happy Valentines Day!!! Hope everybody gets some!!!!

We had a fun, if at times, awkward show this week. Hope you love the phone calls. In studio we have Reno musician Larry Cooper  and Reno Comedian Pat Shillito. They came to play and we had a lot of fun despite all the distractions… No! really! I’m still scratching my head about a lot of what happened on the show this week. If this sounds confusing – good! Listen to the episode and see if you can decipher the mystery.

Larry Cooper with a heart shaped cutout around his face

I don’t want to say Larry does drugs or anything, but he looks like he’s been haning out with Nick too much.

So, yeah, I’m stuck on this whole Valentine’s Day thing. It’s the first one I’ve been single for in almost a decade. Should I write the girly a poem? How do I come off as not creeperish? Do I ignore the holiday entirely? How does one approach a booty call on Valentine’s Day?  So many questions, so many embarassing outcomes. $5 says I chicken out on my plans.

Pat Schillito with a heart shaped cutour around his face, making a stupid face

Seriously, that’s the best picture he took.

In other news – come see the Lincoln’s Still Dead show at Lincoln Lounge this Saturday!!! Los Pistoleros, Cranium and Actors Killed Lincoln!!!!! It’s gonna be awesome!!! Especially the more of you that show up to honor our nation’s fathers!!! and a dollar off for period dress!

Also, if you do end up visiting Reno Computer Fix, make sure you tell them we sent you – we could win a new laptop for referring you. Or you could by referring people over there, but who would do something like that without vetting a repair shop themselves?

Anyway… Thanks For Listening!

NEW SEASON!! GAME ON!!!!

Worst Little Podcast – DOWNLOAD LINK – S3 E1

Welcome to Season Three of The Worst Little Podcast in the World! So, yeah, we have Max Volume of the Max Volume Band and on-air personality for KOZZ on the show. But first, just like in the episode – we have a phone call with Mr. Bobby Slayton! Thanks to our connections at The Reno Tahoe Comedy Club, we were able to spend a good 20 minutes talking to “The Pitbull of Comedy”. Well, talking to Bobby Slayton  might be an exaggeration – listening to him bust Rev. Rory’s chops and lie talk about how much he likes Reno is more like it. He’s a pro and really came to play. Great opening segment. Be sure to catch Bobby Slayton at The Pioneer Underground THIS Friday and Saturday night where he’ll be appearing with a bunch of local comics including friends of the show Jenny PezDeSpencer, Pat Shillito and Matt Wiegand!

Max Volume having a good time on the other side of the mic.

We had a lot of fun with Max on the show. A great talent and a staple of Reno radio for years, he’s a blast to sit and talk to – hearing him namedrop all the famous people you and I will never meet – mostly because he’s old as dirt and they’re all dead!! Man, good times! Or those times when he played one of FOUR BRAND NEW SONGS!!! That’s right – Worst Little Podcast exclusive recordings of Max Volume. And you thought we’d forgotten our promises! Here we are two years later, still delivering the goods!

Max Volume tuning up his acoustic guitar in an image that is blurred, except for his face.

A face built for radio!

We’d also like to welcome on board our brand new sponsors, Reno Computer Fix. Justin and Ian over there are pretty awesome guys, supporting the arts in Reno with gallery space in a techie repair shop and keeping our computers running. Part of the Wells Avenue crew, they’re near everybody, so please check them out and mention that you heard about them from us! And while I’m on the subject of sponsors – check out Waking Girl Web Design if you need design, content or social media coordination or consultation.  OK – between Bobby Slayton, Max Volume, Reno Computer Fix and Waking Girl, I think that’s enough shameless plugs for one post. Oh, and Jub Jub sez – “Fuck your podcast!”

from left to right, arms ajoined, Nick Ramirez smiling, Rick Spagnola looking up, Max Volume smiling and Rory Dowd smiling.

Legend, legend, real legend, dork.

Thanks for listening!
