Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and gurrrls,

WTF are you doing right now?

Worst Little Podcast S7 E7 – Download Link

This week we welcome Reno band Moons Of Vega to the show. This high-energy foursome consists of Bryce (bass/vocals), Bruce (First seat Guitar – yeah, right)  Chris (Proudly-Adopted-American Second Seat Guitar) , and Don (drums and smarts).

Moons Of Vega will be sharing the stage with Worst Little Podcast alumni Prince Robot and SoCal’s The Whining Pussy’s on April 13th at Shea’s Tavern. Be sure to catch them again at the 13th annual Marianarchy fest, May 12 & 13 @ Jub Jub’s (A benefit for Hank Sosnowski).

Also be sure to check out Jonathan Rolling and Brendon Lund at Foxy First Friday at the Foxy Olive on April 7th. The Rev has to bow out this month due to hours-buying and marriage considerations, but is sure you will be entertained by these two Reno songwriters.

Thanks for listening!

Constant Companion, Nick Ramirez, hops in the driver’s seat this week while Dogwater Studios plays host to Whitebulbs an Americana/folk/punk band from Reno NV. Aaron Foelsch, Kyle Dazey, Zach Compton, Ken Shepherd and Andy Pavlu crash the studio with their high-energy music. Rev. Rory was out with a case of being a parent, so I don’t have a whole lot to say about the show. It’s weird to listen, but Nick did a good job in my stead.

These guys start us with a barbershop lullaby, but shortly thereafter kick things into high gear. I for one can’t wait to see Whitebulbs live and in action some night soon. They are an active band with facebook and reverbnation pages as well as their own website. They’ve been playing out a lot with some great bands and have a bunch of other shows lined up in the near future. Check them out!

Gobble, gobble and merry, merry!

Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – S3 E35

Hello, friends! I hope you had a great holiday weekend and stuffed yourselves. Rev. Rory was in a food coma all weekend, which is why the podcast is late. Again.

This episode features the rockin’ goodness of Reno alt-country troubadours, The Refiners! These gents came in and kicked down the doors of Dogwater Studios. Calling themselves “Waylan through a modern lens”; Bill, Ned and Doug are the real deal. They curse. They drink. They play some damn fine music. We got to hear some country covers and some Refiner originals and it was damn fine.

Bill McKean of The Refiners on The Worst Little Podcast
I’m going to take this time to interrupt the blog post to remind you about the upcoming festivities this weekend at the Marianarchy Winter Formal! With over 40 bands in 2 days, this is easily our biggest Marianarchy yet! A benefit for Nico Theologitis of Nico’s Greek Deli, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, this Marianarchy Winter Formal is a special one. It is also the first Marianarchy on two stages and a prelude to Marianarchy X, comping this May. (Aaaaannnnnd….. it just happens to be Rev. Rory and Nick Ramirez’s birthday party)

Ned Chaney of the Refiners on the Worst Little Podcast

We hope you will join us, hope you enjoy this show and we hope you are all well! Many thanks to the Refiners for an awesome set and toe-tapping good music!

See you next week with Lawrence Coleman III and Ashley Marie!

…but trouble always seems to find him.

Sultry, seductive and psychedelic

Hey everybody! We continue to switch things up on you and keep the show at least as fresh as day old bread! Veteran troubadour and troublemaker, Bruce Lindsay, treats us to some of his poetry and music. He’s a combination of deep waters and a babbling brook – there’s something deep there, amongst the light, shadow and rocks, but sometimes all you get is shallow. Luckily, Lindsay brought his A-game – and a bunch of books CDs and copies of his award-winning movie “Under the Radar”that he gave to us! This cat knows how to treat big-time stars!

his hat.

Nick hits Rory with a curve ball in the middle of the episode – he challenges Reverend Rory and Bruce Lindsay to a poetry read-off. The wordsmiths dust off some works from ye olde Blue Lamp Open Mic days and do battle with literary claymores – Lindsay took the title by the smallest of margins (mostly since I LET HIM win, cause I’m classy like that). It was strangely a lot more fun than it sounds – a rare treat for and from the vaults.

Conflicted, reflective and alliterative

Our main focus this week, aside from all the crazy creativve and wonderful things Bruce Lindsay does, is MARIANARCHY WINTERBALL 2012 – A Benefit for Tom Plunkett!!!!! As if you weren’t aware, Marianarchy is this weekend and we are helping out our good friend, Tom Plunkett, Reno actor, director, musician, personal friend of  Bruce Lindsay AND the show. Nick reads off the list of band names or you can check out the Day 1 lineup here and the Day 2 lineup here. The Rev will be hosting it (Saturday is his birthday)  and we are looking forward to a really really great weekend. Please join us!!!!

Thanks for Listening!!

Welcome to the start of your summer season, Reno!

As I mentioned in last week’s post, Jess Blaze, local promoter and true believer, passed away in her sleep. We start the show with an audio tribute to Jess; we humbly share these memories  of a woman we all loved very much. She was also a big part of …..

Marianarchy 2012 setlist

YOU BETTER BE HERE!!!!

That’s right! After months and months of teasing it out – IT’S REALLY HERE!!! MARIANARCHY 2012!!!!!!! Friday May 18 and Saturday May 19!!!

It’s one hell of a line up this year, with the reunions of Phat Couch and Gunshot Licker on Friday and Saturday nights, respectively. There’s a raffle and silent auction, Happy-Hour Potluck, BBQ. Admission is whatever you can donate to the cause. This year, the proceeds will go to benefit the familes of Rev. Gary Setzer and Jess Blaze (who are secretly pissed that they’re missing this show, or so I’m told). The events will be emceed by yours truly, Reverend Rory. Come see me turn into Jerry Lewis over a 48 hour period!!!

Seriously, though – this is probably my favorite event in Reno every year. You should really check it out. Marianarchy is at the cultural heart of Reno and Ground Zero for a lot of the love and camraderie in the Reno music and sart scenes. It is really something special and you should check it out.

Dave Aiazzi_phixr

Dave supports free speech and press!

Also on the show this week is Reno City Councilman and Sparks-core native, Dave Aiazzi. Dave is a really good friend of Nick’s and a big supporter of our simmering arts scene here in Reno. He also knows how to take a joke (Thanks in advance for not getting a cease and desist on the picture, Dave). Irma Geddon jumps into the fray with some insightful questions about how people can get things done with the city, what happened to the Occupy Moana thing, and what is up with that airline food? For his part, Dave does not particularly care for the airline chicken plate. I think Dave had something he wanted to talk about, but we all kept badgering him with questions and cutting to the music. It was probably important.

Maybe next time. Ha?

At any rate – Come to MARIANARCHY 2012 at JUB JUB’S THIRST PARLOR! MAY 18 AND 19!!!!

Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – Episode 41

This is easily our most offensive episode yet. Like that-time-I-faked-a-miscarriage-for-Halloween motherfuckerbulldogcheeksshitcuntfartbloody stoolsnottyshlongtwogirlsonecupcockbastardmeatpursedonkeypunch offensive.

Tom McInturf ...the smart one...

I’d like to start by acknowledging that we make mistakes. Yes, I know, it’s hard to believe, but we fuck up sometimes. Like my grandfather’s name is “Ed” not “Gerald” or whatever it was I said(see Ep.39). The most glaring mistakes in this show are the date for the Ditch the Pilot benefit show, (Dec. 8 ) since they house got burnt down, and the fact that this is our 41st episode, not our 40th. But anyways….

Mike Adragna ...the pretty one...

We cover a lot of ground in this nearly 2 hour episode. Mike Adragna, Morgan Hough and Tom McInturf of Red Mercury are this week’s victims are a bunch of really fun guys. They got the vibe of the show right away and rolled with it. I think I even blushed  a couple of times (AND I tell an awful, awful joke I made up and promised teh Wifey I wouldn’t repeat. But, ssshhh – don’t tell her.) Red Mercury plays a few really fucking awesome live songs and some tracks off of their fairly new CD; in the interview, they really let their hair down, but… we already talked about that.

Morgan Hough ...the funny one...

We also touch on the Caughlin Fire, Movember, Marianarchy, football (Raiders suck, Go Pack!), how busy Rick is and much much more.  Well, not really MUCH, much more, but some other things, and postulations and theorems waxing upon life. And bad jokes. Lots of those.

And as always, my Unseen Audience: Thanks for listening.
