Spencer has been playing as JUST IN-Beaver for about two years. Also here is the Rhino! He’s been a DJ in Reno since forever and recently he’s parlayed that career into the charity work he is here talking with us about this week. If you’re not caught up, Rhino has been working on bringing his Golden Gate art car and Silent Disco to sick kids everywhere by touring to children’s hospitals. The Rhino is for the children, y’all. We’re happy to get the word out about his art car land speed record and fundraising activities for this amazing project. We will keep our listeners updated about future events!

Outlaw Kindred is an Outlaw Folk/Grass band. Featuring Olaf Vali Duna on Banjo and Josiah Knight on Guitar. Playing Country Barn Stomping Hay Burners! The two met years ago in Northern California, before the beards! It’s safe to say they’re the only two people in Reno who know what each others faces actually look like. They’re one of Reno’s most solid duo’s and this girls favorite. Be sure to catch them in Reno next during Off Beat Music Fest, happening November 8th through 10th. 33 Black is a very serious band and is made up of Travis and Jeb on vocals and guitar, and Spencer on drums
33 Black was formed back in the day (they never got around to telling us which day exactly) when Jeb and Travis, who were high school sweethearts friends, met Spencer on the internet. But unlike most Craigslist hookups, this one lasted.
Thank’s to 33 Black for being Kim’s reason to get drunk this week! Their next show is in Chico on June 14th but look for local shows soon. Saturday is Reno’s biggest and best folk showcase, Loud As Folk (event link), with Six Mile Station and Cowboy Indian opening for Hellbound Glory (!!!). It’s at new bat time and a new bat venue (RIP Adam West), 2 p.m., June 17th at The Eddy. After Loud As Folk, take a short walk to The Basement for some indie jazz/rock with Raksha Paksha and Reno anthem singer Grace Hayes at 8 p.m. If you haven’t been to the Basement (in the old Post Office) this is the perfect chance to fix that!
