Actors Killed Lincoln – That One Unique Guy – S3 E33
Freakin’ computers!
The Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – S3 E30
Late post this week. GIANT tech switchover at the Dogwater Studios (Rick bought a new computer and is still working out the bugs) but we persevered! AND WERE TRIUPMHANT in the end. (Rick’s always triumphant in the end) We got Actors Killed Lincoln on the show this week. Well, most of em anyway… the REAL musicians of the band, Kent Irwin, Matt Kaminsky, Dan Lyons, Jenkins and Alan Kaminsky all showed up. Zach Reese, however had more IMORTANT things to do (like a competitive grad school program or gay sex). But they also persevered and were triumphant!!!
Actors Killed Lincoln threw down and played their bad-ass music in a bad-ass way. We talked a little about their upcoming CD release, which is already available online here. The show’s a little short this week, due to time constraints, so after a few songs we got right into the Worst Quiz in the World. With all five of them, it takes a while!
Well… I want to get this in your ears, so I’ll cut it short. Shout out to Reno Computer Fix for the assist in helping Rick get a great computer!
This is a great show. Really. Listen. Listen harder.
And, THANKS for listening.

Howdy, kiddos! Hope you’re having a great week!
Despite the fact that I still am wounded by the cold, bitter sting of him going out for a pack of cigarettes and never coming home, and he looks like Eddie Vedder mated with a brillo pad, we have the ONE AND ONLY Spencer, The Intern back on the show today! He brings with him, the always amazing Clint Philbin once more. In the fallout of The Big Bad, the two of them have teamed up to form the rocktastic and groove-makin’, Failure Machine. Two-man, distorted Motown covers and originals, they don’t need no stinkin’ band. They give us a bunch of double shots of songs and lay it down. You can follow them on Facebook or bandcamp if you want to check out some of what they do.
We also get down, if you will, with Murdoc Brickel. Murdoc comes to us from The Night Of Fetish and Fantasy(NOFF) 2013. Put on by the National Leather Association of Northern Nevada, this annual event is for fetishists, kinksters and sexy people of all levels and persuasions. Murdoc himself is a total freak and pervert. He kinda made the guys uncomfortable by being even MORE naked than Rev. Rory (who always wears nothing but a bow tie and a smile). But we had a lot of fun talking about the event that is THIS WEEKEND at Candela’s Nightclub.
Lots of fun stuff going this weekend in Reno/Sparks – Pumpkinpalooza, The Holland Project Cover Show, A Whiskey Social and lots more. Get out and enjoy your city!
Thanks for listening!
Infecto Skeletons – Refined, Relaxed and Retarded – S3 E27
Hey, did you know we actually still do a show?
Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – 2013 09 09
Hey boys and girls!!! Did you miss us? We missed you!!! We all had a great vacation this past August and are ready to hit the back third of the year with some awesome shows! Fist up to bat, we have the Infecto Skeletons, recent staple of the ReNO punk rock music market. These guys were out there a lot this spring and summer, smashing old skool punk rock into audience’s ears. Infecto Skeletons even just got off of a So-Cal mini-tour, branching out from Mother Reno.
We had a good time with them at the house and on the show. Maybe went a little overboard on the pre-party… we talked too much and then didn’t have anything to say on the show that was coherent. Go figure! On THIS show? But the boys in Infecto Skeletons put down some killer tracks that had me wishing I was drunk and at Shea’s with Felix or something, so I could blindly and drunkenly crash around the room to their dulcet tones.
Infecto Skeletons are Justin Minyard (vocals), Andrew Hockenberry (drums), Rash Kader (bass) and Mike Read (guitar). Aside from being a lot of fun to hang out with andd playing some great Reno punk rock music, they … uh… well, that’s about it really. I didn’t get that far in the interview – got distracted by the Worst Little Quiz and the epic battle for Last Place.
If you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend, we have really only two events we want to draw your attention to (Infecto Skeletons is playing at neither of them). First is on Friday at the Public House – Lend Jimi Damone a Hand – more info on the event to help Jimi Damone who recently suffered a debilitating accident in the show and on the event page. You can also donate to the cause at the Jimi Damone GiveForward page, where they have raised nearly 1/3 of their goal.
Also Sunday, please join Nick Ramirez at the Artist’s Lofts for a fundraiser for his cat, Loopy Lupe – listen and read, people, listen and read.
And don’t forget the Blazing Mics every Monday at Jub Jub’s Thirst Parlor, brought to you by the Worst Little Podcast!
As always, my friends, Thanks For Listening – see you next week!
Prescription – Wholesome Boys – S3 E23
And, we’re back!
Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – S3 E21
Hey, Everybody! Thanks for being patient with us while on our vacation.
This week, we have on Prescription, a great Reno band that’s been around for about a year. Reverend Rory caught them a few times and knew they HAD to be on the show. Nick and Dick were dutifully impressed. Their layered, raw wall of sound is like unto a natural force, like a tidal wave. Their sound is pretty structured, despite the chaos around them.
The guys in the band – Donovan, Jarren, Josh, Justin and Shane – were totally pro too. Despite the heat and some technical glitches, they showed up with gear, on time, and ready to rock. They hammered down four songs that will get stuck in your head. You have plenty of chances to check out Prescription. Lincoln Lounge on 8/9 with the Vague Choir; The Urban Roots Farm Brew-grass festival on 8/10, in Nevada City on 8/24 and at Moonrocks on 8/30.
Part of our difficulties was that this was our first week without Executive Fluffer, Bryce who is joining the Navy to be surrounded by seamen leaving us for better things. We wish him well and curse him for not sticking around hope he comes back to visit when he can.
We also have a quick phoner with Reno comedian, Jenny PezDeSpencer, at the top of the show – for her show that opens tonight! Chekkitout!
I hate to tell you this, but August is going to be a little spotty too. We’re just going to record every other week, due to scheduling and the fucking heat! ugh! That studio is a nightmare – we can’t run the AC, cause it makes a buzzing noise. But have no fear, we will be putting up content on the weeks off – maybe footage from open mics or a show – you’ll just have to see what Nick and I get up to this month!
Don’t forget to check out the Rocky Horror Artown Extravaganza with Pinky Polanski and Thee Reverend Rory Dowd at Cargo in Whitney Peak (formerly CommRow). Also – Blazing Mics every week at Jub Jub’s!
As always, Thanks for Listening!
sCHIZoPOLITANs – The Soundtrack to your Imagination – S3 E21
The Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – S3 E20
So – partying on the Fourth kicked my ass. There’s lots of awesome things I want to say about the Schizopolitans, like that they’re badass. And that Xtevion, Andy Jorgensen, and Hector Urtubia are rocket scientists of music with their Hard Ambient Goth Atonal Jazz Industrial Techno Avant-garde Freestyle Dance Noise ethic. Or that they are an intense experience with sweat and cursing and a room packed full of electronics and wires and keyboards and computers. Or that they are an unique experience in Reno music. I could also say that you should check out The Schizopolitans on their bandcamp page for tons of free music. Or that you can catch them while you “Get Wood!” at the Strega 5-year Anniversary Party on July 12th.
I could also call The Schizopolitans self-indulgent twats, but I wouldn’t do that.
I’m not going to say any of that, because I’m exhausted – enjoy your weekend.
Thanks for listening.
The Tahoe Players and the Death of a Candyshoppe – S3 E20
Focus, people!
The Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – S3 E19
Hello friends, it’s that time of the week again! Don’t forget to drink your Ovaltine! (do they even make that anymore?) We have a pretty fun show lined up for you – except for that part when Rev. Rory tries to use a tuner – with lots of exciting things! First, from the Tahoe Players, we have a couple of cast members from their production of les Miserables take the time to visit with us. Micheal Jackson and Regina Powers take the stage in the studio and tell us all about the debut of les Miserables at the Village Green for Red, White, and Tahoe Blue on July 5. Directed by Lily Baran and Musical Director Joe McKessom, the production will also run July 25-29 at John Ascuaga’s Nugget. Tickets are available at the Tahoe Players website. Aside from all that good stuff, Miceal blew us away with just a snippet from the show. It should be a lot of fun!
Sadly, Nick announced the demise of Candyshoppe, citing creative differences and an insatiable addiction to Cheetos amongst the various members. Best known for violently assaulting audience members with sugary treats, Candyshoppe will be remembered as a band of minor note – mostly B minor. Just kidding! We will actually miss them and wish all the Candyshoppers the best in the next chapter of whatever the hell it is that they do. We end up playing a few of their songs this week, in memoriam.
We also devote some portion of the show to talking with Executive Fluffer, Bryce Albright. So far 100% of Bryce’s bands have broken up, usually before releasing any recordings. SO! Seeing as they were Dogwater Studio productions living under a rock, we played a few. and you know what – they were actually pretty good. Toe tapping in fact.
This Weekend’s picks
Friday – Captured! By Robots at Jub Jub’s – $10
– Stabby Unicorn and N8-Bit at Strega – Free
Saturday – SITR featuring Craig Prather and John White at Swill
– Old Man Markley, 6 Mile Station and Actors Killed Lincoln at The Alley
That’s all! Thanks for listening!!!
Craig Prather: Awesomer Than Expected – S3 E18
Do what you love!
The Worst Little Podcast in the World – Download Link – S3 E17
Super fun happy good times on the show this week! Craig Prather stops in for some studio time, promoting his brand spankin’ new CD “No Limits”. Reverend Rory’s brother, Mike , is in town and keeps the third chair warm for Chewie while he’s gone. And we had absolutely NO technical difficulties. None whatsoever. Nope.
Craig Prather is a super guy and collaborative musician – his CD is a two-fer! With a ridiculous number of songs on it, it is a double CD release, all for the price of one! We chat it up, talking about his experiences and the scores of Reno musicians he’s worked with in the past few years. Seriously! Craig Prather can name-drop with the likes of Tom Gordon and Nick Ramirez!
We have a lot of fun, but really the Worst Little Quiz does not fail to disappoint this week. Despite such different guys, they were running a pretty tight race right up until the end, and kabbblaaaammmmm! Everything changes. You gotta listen!
Also – I got everything wrong with Big Remote last week. Their CD Jenkins is available at Discology or at their website www.bigremote.net.
Don’t forget to checkout Lighter Theif at the NadaDada event this Friday at Wildflower Pub. Also Reverend Rory will be emceeing The Best In the West Burlesque Showcase during the Reno Rockabilly Riot at the Grand Sierra Resort this weekend.
Thanks for Listening!
Adam Springob: With the Entourage – S3 E15
First: Marianarchy Marianarchy Marianarchy!!!!
More later. Now, onto the show!
The Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – S3 E14
Adam Springob joins us this week as a solo artist. He’s been stepping out from above Greg Gilmore’s very small shadow and showcasing his own singing and songwriting. It’s really good stuff. Unfortunately, you won’t hear it!!!! He brought a damn band with him this week. Actually – he brought TWO bands with him to make one giNORmous band called …. Something Or Other. Joining him in the studio are Michelle Belle (guitar – Scarlet Presence), Carter Stellon (drums – Scarlet Presence), Samantha Gates (fiddle), and Greg Gilmore (bass – Kanes NOT Merkin – lets be clear about this: Greg is not in The Merkins. He’s not that good.)
We had a really fun time with these guys – so much fun that Nick and The Rev had to take off before the show was done!!! They’re not even sure what happens yet!!! There is a lot of talking, yelling and chaos – more than usual – really. I’m supposed to take down notes and tease it out here, but I seem to have neglected to do that this week, although there is a really awesome drawing of a polar bear holding a surfboard next to the note “Sam seems so nice – why these a-holes?”.
SO, normally I tell you about the picks for this weekend, right? Well, this week, there is only one show you should concern yourself with (despite what Adam says on the show – srsly, fuck that guy): MARIANARCHY 2013: A BENEFIT FOR DALE KELLAMS!!! Get your asses to Jub Jub’s Thirst Parlor this weekend, May 17 & 18! starts at 3pm on Friday, 2pm on Saturday!
There will also be a Remembering Dale Kellams show at Jub’s Thursday night with his brother, Doug’s band. Please come down for old footage and good friends. All proceeds of this weekend will go to support his widder and orphan, Heidi and Kenobi.

Josiah Knight: Come for the Fail, Stay for the WIN! – S3 E14
“It’s not the guest’s fault – it’s all mine.” – Reverend Rory
The Worst Little Podcast – DOWNLOAD LINK – S03 E13
WARNING: I want to start this post with a warning. I, Reverend Rory Dowd, am a big bucket of fail this week. Right out of the gate, I faceplant into a brick wall, every joke I tell and bit of information I say in the first 30 min of the show is wrong wrong wrong WRONG! I apologize in advance. But I was SAVED-uh! Josiah Knight, Reno singer/songwriter, comes in and plays some really killer tunes for us, picking the show right back up. This guy is a new-ish friend to all of us (within the last 365, at least), and a welcome addition to our music scene.
We are also saved early on in the show by a fun interview with Dustin Kaufman of the Weediculous Comedy Tour. He and three other LA area comics are travelling around the country in a minivan, filming a documentary about their tour and the state of marijuana culture in the US today. Many of their stops are in dispensaries and cafes, but here in Reno – we got them coming down to the Shea’s Tavern!! Thursday night, 5/9 (today for most of you) at 9pm he and his cohort will be kicking it off – filming it live for a documentary that should be up on Netflix … at some point. (As we know from Nowhere Nevada, a movie is only finished when it’s done!) Opening up for them are Reno Comedians, Jenny PezDeSpencer and Brandon Lara! Good times….
Before I ruin anything else, I’m going to sign off.
Thanks for Listening!
Nowhere Nevada: EPISODE 100!!!!!! – S3 E11
That’s right 100 (ish – if you don’t count Best of Episodes or two-part episodes)!!!!
The Worst Little Podcast – Download Link – S3 E11
Great fun this week, but the post is going to be light, because Reverend Rory has poor time management skills.
In studio, we have a bunch of cast and crew from the Reno film project “Nowhere, Nevada”. Male Lead, Jef Derderian; Casting Director, Juli Green; Director of Cinematography, Tyler Bourns and Executive Producer, Brian Sutherland all took time out of their pot smoking busy schedules to hang out with us and talk with us about the film – which is almost done!!!! Late late late in the show, we also get a special appearance from Tom Gordon, whose fingerprints are all over the sound of the movie. (Not to mention that we have to thank Just Nick for making a lot of this happen, and Rev. Rory is on screen for about 45 seconds)
It’s a longish show, so we forgot to tell you what’s coming up this weekend – here’s a quick breakdown of the “Staff Picks”:
FRIDAY:
Shea’s – Spencer Shea, Matt Hutchings and Lepp’s bday celebration with Livitz Livitz and Arden Park Roots (SAC)
Reno Art Works – The Traveling Miracle Show
SATURDAY 4/20:
Bar M Bar – Candyshoppe, Cadillac, Mary Jane Rocket, Matt Waage, Julebox Rebels and lots of Jello Shots
Strega – Bazooka Zoo CD Release Party!
Like I said – poor time management skills.
Thanks for listening!!!!!
