Episode 501! This is not the greatest pod in the world, this is just a tribute!

Juggs Black & Kans Gass (Amy and Jen Scaffidi (Wizard Colors, Blunderbusst)) of Tenacious Double D join us for our 501st  episode and third installment of season 13’s salute to women on the scene. We love when the Double D (uh hmm) come and visit us in the last few seasons – it’s become a highlight of our year. The Double Supreme!
(If you’re not familiar with the greatest band in the world, Tenacious D, google it. The ladies’ tribute is always a special treat with their adorable sisterly love and sweet, blood harmonies.)

Also joining us are Kadillac Kim’s homies from the Reno Punk Rock Flea Market, Ray Frost and Cisco. They are visiting today to talk about the upcoming Punk Rock Prom! The Prom will feature friends of the show: Ozymandias, Heterophobia, and Pussy Velour.
That’s right, Kim’s back! Ian’s back! And Percy the intern is back!
Here’s to the next 500, life is short and we love you.

Some people just don’t know when to stay down. As we wrap up Season 12, we thought we’d close out with a round-up of our most frequent regular guests. At the suggestion of Josiah Knight, this week’s episode is exclusively guests who have been on the show at least five times in the last 12 years. In addition to our favorite murderhobo, Josiah, we are joined by Mark Earnest (Kanawha, Manchild), Jen Scaffidi (Blunderbusst, Wizard Colors), Dan Steinmetz (Thee Saturday Knights, Manchild), Spike McGuire (Loud As Folk), and Greg GIlmore (Greg Gilmore and the Fever Dreams, Loud As Folk). There’s even a track from Johnny Harpo, who couldn’t make it – but that’s exclusive to our Patreon subscribers, as you’ll come to find out. Repeatedly.

This show is a lot of fun – a lot of jokes and reminiscing and a live track from Greg Gilmore opens the whole thing. Its a real treat to call all of these wonderful humans and noted musicians our friends, and to get a chance to sit down and talk with them like this.

Lots of great shows happening this weekend, and you’ll have to listen to hear our picks, but the one you should care about is the one that happens hours after this is published – The Holiday Hammering at The Cellar at Alturas. Brought to you by the Rock Solid Pressure Show, the evening’s entertainment includes performances from A Wormhole Could Kill Us All, One Ton Dually, FloodFireDeathDrought, and Manchild. IT’s aso a celebration for Nick and The Rev’s birthdays! So come through if you’re out in Reno tonight.

Starring our youngest guest yet!!!

Worst Little Podcasat – S6 E11

The Potentialists of the Potentialist Workshop invade Dogwater Studios this week. Mac Esposito (Bazooka Zoo), Chriselle Vinson, Kelsey Sweet and Axiom Pantoja join support to talk about what the shell a Potentialist and the Workshop is all about. Mostly though, we talked with young Ax. And he spoke the truth!

Kelsey Sweet and 4 month old Axiom Pantoja

Kelsey and Ax

Mac plays us some solo stuff, some of which are songs he plays with Bazooka Zoo, friends of the show and Reno Space Rockers. Mac joined their lineup a while ago and the sound is out of the galaxy. You can catch them at their next show at The Saint on 5/27/2016.

His lovely wife, Chriselle, whose name I butcher repeatedly throughout the show, is both wonderful and the house masseuse at the Potentialist Workshop. Stop by and check them out- they want to make your art a reality!

Brand new year! Same old dick jokes!

The Worst Little Podcast – S5 E38 – Download Link

Starting the year of with some magical musical machinations is Wizard Colors, a Carson City NV noise band, featuring Jen Scaffidi and Carson Cessna, noted Sierra Nevada musical outlaws. “Noise band” might throw you off, sounding like some frenetic Phillip Glass/Mike Patton fantasy band, which is not unheard of, but Wizard Colors is something else. Randomly ambient audio-structure creation, might be a better way of looking at it. Yeah, I know it’s weird, but listen anyway, because it’s good for you!

Wizard Colors has been a regular participant at MEAT – Reno Noise Night, a monthly gathering of noise aficionados, as have Cessna and Scaffidi individually. This weekend, they will be performing with Will Hendricks and N8ive, at RNN’s new home at the Holland Project. You can hear a little more about these performers in the episode. Reno Noise Night’s monthly events are at the beginning of their fourth year and are definitely unique events. Literally, not one is the same as the next, even were they to have the same performers, which doesn’t always happen.

Also on the show, we have the treat of one Quentin Ramirez, heir to Nick Ramirez III, Reverend Rory’s left-hand man. Quentin couldn’t make it in for the Christmas show, but he made it for the new year! It’s good to see him again, now that he’s old enough to be on the show. Though scoring high marks in the nerd and video game department, he had a rough time with the quiz – but not as rough as Nick did listening to his answers!

So to sum up, if you like close listening to improvisational music in the dark, or are intrigued by what you here on the episode, go check out Wizard Colors at Holland Project, Friday Jan. 9 at 8pm. Quentin was rad. Oh, and yeah – we talk about what we remember and don’t remember about Nick’s bachelor party. SUPER NFSW. Might want to pot the volume down on that segment.

These tech difficulties brought to you by FML Producions!

The Worst Little Podcast S2 E30 – Download Link

Michelle Coleman "I like kittehs!"

There’s a whole set of awesome young musicians in Reno. We’ve talked to some of them on here before. Scarlet Presence is definitely one of them. These rock and roll rippers sat in with us with the full setup and shreddecd out some great tracks for us. Singer and Guitar-er, Michelle Coleman; Drummer, Carter Stellon; and future pizza delivery guy Bassist, Jonesy Pelsue invaded the Dogwater Studios this week to kill it for us. Michelle has got some powerful pipes and plays guitar like she was born with one in her hands. The boys round out the rythm quite nicely – but let’s face it, it’s all about her.

Carter Stellon "Yeah... I know. I rule."

Besides the awesome that is Scarlet Presence, we also had some great phone interviews this week. First up is Rev. Rory’s long-time and very good friend Lucio “Reverend Screamin’ Fingers” Menegon. Lucio moved out to NYC from the Bay Area some time ago and is back for a West Coast Wake up call. He’ll be performing at Reno Art Works this Saturday for a night of music, noise and art. Also on the show is comedian Justin Russell who will be appearing at the Pioneer Underground Comedy Club all weekend long. The call with him could have gone better, but we had some severe lag issues.

Jonesy Pelsue "I love lamp."

Lots of good shows coming up this month – including Scalet Presence at the alley on the 18th, and Strega on the 20th. Also want to mention the Rocky Horror show at CommRow on Friday the 26th – featuring live music by Pinky Polanski and emceed by Reverend Rory AND the Nowhere Nevada fundraiser on Saturday the 27th. It’s October – one of the best show and pary months all year, so stay tuned!

Thanks for listening!

It’s a Brand New Year, but the Same Dumb Show!

Hi there! Did you miss us? We missed our pre show circle-jerks and all of you listeners over the holiday break. It was a great Christmas and Holiday and New Year’s season for everyone. And how about that weather? Huh? Pretty freaking nice if you ask me. I’ll take clouds and 60/70 degree weather over snow and grey skies every Christmas. But a little snow this year would be nice. It’s pretty to look at from inside. Where it’s warm. Anyway…

In the studio this week are our favorite Carson City duo, Blunderbusst! Jen Scaffidi and Carolyn Gates are always super fun to talk to, and totally on the ball, and super rad musicians. They did not disappoint; we all had a great time and they hammered out three lives songs for us. Great first show of the year, clocking in at about 2 hours. But the mouths on these women! Holy shit! They’d make a sailor’s tattoos blush!

We also hop on the phone with Stacey Tolle, currently with Austin’s ‘The People VS. De La Rosa’, but more importantly formerly of Reno’s #1 all time best band (according to our listener poll) Gunshot Licker! She’s been back in town for the holidays and *gasp* IS PLAYING GUNSHOT LICKER REUNION SHOW ON FRIDAY, 1/6!!!! It’s a benefit for the Rev. Gary Setzer with the Shames, The Gunner’s Daughter and Blunderbusst at Davidson’s Distillery. It’s going to be pretty fantastic and fun and you should all come out. Seriously, if you live within 200 miles of Reno and haven’t seen Gunshot Licker, you NEED to come see this show. Shit like this just doesn’t happen very often. Yo.

Also Don’t forget – The Worst Live Podcast in Reno on Jan 20 at  Jub Jub’s Thirst Parlor where for the first time we will be recording the show in front of a live bar audience! Contests and games – including a YELLING CONTEST!!! –  prizes for the winners and a bucket of ‘suck it up’ for the losers! I expect to see you all there!

We’ve got a great year ahead of us and can’t wait to share another year’s worth of Reno music, art and culture with you.
Thanks for Listening.
