Oh, hi. Welcome to this week’s Heaviest Little Podcast!

Worst Little Podcast S7 E30 – Download Link

This week we have the talented AF dudes from Reno metal-core band, Salythian. These Reno natives laid some serious rock and roll on us here at Dogwater Studio.  Not only are they seriously accomplished musicians, they’re social media wizards. Listen up to hear how they do the thing they do.

Thanks to the band for being on the show! We had a great time interviewing you three and we’ll be looking out for your upcoming shows. Follow them on Facebook so you can too! Salythian rocks. Literally.

In other news, I would like to give a shout out to Headquarters Bar and to the bands that played Saturday night to raise money for the victims of the Las Vegas shooting. SWIGS, One Ton Dually, and Riptide Bandits slayed that room and raised $360. If you haven’t visited Headquarters yet, get your tail down there. It is Reno As Fuck in the best way. If you’re inclined to help your fellow Renoites make downtown greater than ever, head over to their fundraiser page. There are some pretty sweet rewards, but really, the only reward I need is HQ staying open so I can see more rad shows like Saturday night’s.

This week your to do list includes some kick ass shows, and one incredibly bizarre event staring Cory Feldman. Weren’t expecting that, were ya… Check out my picks for the week:

Greetings from the Best Little City in the world!

The-Worst-Little-Podcast-2017-09-18 – S7 E28 Download Link

Rory, Nick, Rick, and Chewy bring you this week’s podcast from a not so hot and sweaty studio (because Kim’s not there). This week we are joined by Lee, Perry, Amelia, and Travis from Basement Tapes! Listen up for some top notch Reno garage rock and learn how many times we should forgive someone before we’re allowed to punch them!

But FIRST we are joined briefly by excellent Reno songwriter, Greg Gilmore. Greg is talking to us about/premiering his new single, What Am I? Check out his Facebook page for video’s and music links. Let’s listen to some music!

Greg Gilmore joined us to debut his new single, Who Am I?

But back to Basement Tapes. Basement Tapes describes their music as retro, 60s, raw, high-energy garage rock. Revisiting a time when music had music had soul, with post-modern punk attitude, melodic, grooving bass lines, thunderous rolling drums, powerful crashing guitar riffs and a harmonious couple on vocals. Basement Tapes plays straight-forward simple rock and roll.

Thanks to Greg and Basement Tapes for joining us this week!

Good Golly Miss Gololly!

The Worst Little Podcast – S5 E2 – Download Link

Hope you enjoyed your Groundhog’s Day! More on that later. Joining us once again are the maniacal talents of Small Drawings, a Reno NV rock duo. Drew Ernhout (vocals and guitar) and Mike Smalski (drums) sat down with us again, now that they have been salted – nay! After THEY have salted the town and the scene! A band firmly in their own niche and corner, Small Drawings has gotten to share stages with some of the best bands in Reno and are carving out their own following.

Mike Smalski has a similar mustache and long hair to that of Doug Henning

Mike Smalski or Doug Henning

Before we get sown and dirty with Small Drawings, we put in a call to our good friends, KARMA, who are out on the road on their big big 2015 US Tour. Coincidentally enough, they happened to be in Lafayette, Louisiana, hanging out at Heffe’s Saloon, a fine fine establishment run by Mitch, a buddy of the Reverend’s. They say the bar was good. We’ll have to wait to hear what the bar thinks about them.

Drew Ernhout of Small Drawings has a similar creepy look to Rick Mayall in Drop Dead Fred

Drew Ernhout or Rick Mayall

OK – really – Mike is awesome – just listen to the quiz; but Drew, Drew is a fucking lunatic. He’s the kid that eats paste and then turns it into a poignant diorama about the translation of the color blue into ham. You can catch all their insanity at a show this weekend. Teaming up with Man Downstream and The Tides, Small Drawings will be playing a show at Holland Project this Friday night at 8pm. That is a sick and twisted and AWESOME lineup. Unfortunately, that conflicts with First Friday with Reverend Rory at the Foxy Olive, featuring Paul Allen, noted Reno recluse. You should go to that.

Anyways, thanks for listening.

The Worst Little Podcast – S4 E21

I’m WHOREible at this deadline thing! Sorry folks, Reverend Rory had a poetry reading a the Morris Burner Hotel’s monthly show, Burning Words, then went out to catch some comedy at Third Street Bar. Twas a lot of fun getting out during the midweek! I encourage you all to do it every now and then!

Up Is The Down Is The logo

Up Is The Down Is The

On the show this week we have a lively time – a long recap of the past week for everyone and all the awesome events we went to and enjoyed. Joining us in the studio for the first time is Up Is The Down Is The, a solo music project from Reno NV. Andrew Martin is the man behind the music and is as impressive as he is charming! Dogwater Dick and Reverend Rory caught him after Sit Kitty Sit at Jub Jub’s a few weeks ago and booked him on the spot! With a guitar, drums, pickle barrel and a looper, he creates wonderful aural creations to delight your ears.

Also along for the ride is the always fun and charming Samantha Gates. She just stopped by to chill out with her favorite podcasters and got to take the full Worst Little Quiz, with no pulled punches (since her mom wasn’t in the room this time). Samantha is currently working on some projects that are under wraps at the moment, but that we hope to be able to tell you more about in the future. (Rick didn’t take a picture of Samantha because he hates women is a fag was so busy setting up Up Is The Down Is The.

Nick Ramirez flipping off the camera while Andrew Martin smiles

How rude!

You can catch Up Is The Down Is The on July 2 at Holland Project with The Baddest Beams from Sacramento, CA! Please go check him out  – great music, great venue!! Hope you have a fun week – we’ll see you next week with some of the cast of the Tahoe Players’ productions of Sweeny Todd and Avenue Q.

Like a bunch of space monkeys! Or gorillas.

Flying – drinks – no sleep. hella.

Hey ever’bodeee! What a wild week it’s been. Rory just got into town a few hours before the podcast this week, so he is flying high on re-acclimatizing, caffeine, booze and no sleep. It makes for some interesting…. things… he says… He gives a recap of his time in St. Louis where he dropped his lovely daughter off for the summer with his lovely and ROCKSTAR parents. He also inadvertently sets off a mild, but lively debate about religion AND politics between the WLP crew (so make sure you don’t listen to this at a bar). The guests did not want to touch that conversation with a 10 foot pole. they had their own shit to talk about…

dan ruby_phixr

This is what a career in science gets you – lots of PBR. And glasses.

Dan Ruby of the Wax Models, Crushstory and a few other local projects (like being the Director of Fleishman Planetarium, NBD) comes on the show to regale us with stories of SCIENCE!!!! Well, at least visiting Washington DC and buying NASA surplus at the click of a button. Dan has been a long-time member of the music scene in Reno (he just happens to have been smart enough to study something that got him a cool day job) and is here teasing an upcoming project. Dan, along with Mike Mechanic, J.T. and Chris Gibson, will be performing the live score to a silent film at the NMA on July 28th. This will be the culmination of the “Forage” bike tour event that Holland Project is putting on that day. It sounds pretty kick ass. He also brings a bunch of previously unreleased (except on the web) Wax models tracks that are a lot of fun – somewhere between Jonathan Coulton and TMBG.

dianamite_phixr

Squeaks and Dianamite from Guerrilla Productions were on to plug some stuff too – they have this little event this year called the RENO BLOCK PARTY2, which you may have heard reference to here or there. It’s a great weekend lined up with EDM and live music and art and art cars. Reverend Rory will be emceeing the live stage at Wingfield park, so check it out. The day of fun is this Saturday, June 30 at 10 am. They also plug the upcoming after party with Nevada Backwards at Jub Jub’s, Warsaw Poland Brothers in July, and a benefit for Spike and Jackson on August 10.

Squeaks_phixr

SPEAKING OF WHICH – if anyone sees Spike’s truck driving around town without him in it – call the damn police!!! He had his house broken into and all his shit stolen, including guitars and his car keys.

And one last bit – it was brought to my attention that we have not give due credit where it is due- THANK YOU, FELIX POLANSKI!!! He designed the ad we have in the Reno Tahoe Tonight magazine. Hell, he’s designed our logo, our ad and is probably going to help with the T-Shirts when we get to it. THANK YOU FELIX (asshole).

Thanks for listening!
