Hope you have your dancin’ shoes on, because you’re in for a hep ep. Joining us in the studio are Richie Ballerini and Lee Edwards, a couple of crooners tripping the light fantastic in the Reno nightlife.

Richie Ballerini, crooner and lounge singer from Reno, NV

Ballerini is an old salty dog and veteran of the music industry, having worked with the actual Rat Pack, back when his hair was darker and the nation a little more naive. We could talk to him and listen to his stories for hours. (In fact, Dogwater Dick DID do exactly that during setup and soundcheck this week.) A marvelous entertainer, he lights up Reno/Sparks every weekend at Pietro’s at Victorian Square and is in the market for his fourth wife.

Lee Edwards, crooner and lounge singer from Reno, NV

Edwards has joined him this last year as a complete novice professional singer. However, don’t let this lack of experience fool you – this guy has the chops to perform with the best of them. He joins Ballerini every other week at The Polo Lounge in Midtown, wooing the granny panties off of their fans. A soon-to-be father, Edwards has a lot on his plate, juggling duties and starting out as a professional entertainer.

Josh 'chewie' Martin at work in the actual mines

Chewie at work

This is Chewie. This is what he does when he’s not on the show.
Also, don’t forget to get your presale tickets to Evil Dead: The Musical and The Pinky Polanski Rocky Horror Extravaganza (early and late shows

Anyway, thanks for your support and Thanks for Listening!

Pussy. That’s right. Pussy.

Arguably, the secret to our success (and quasi-failures) rests in the concept of locking musicians entertainers in a small sweaty room and feeding them beer and or coffee for 90 minutes. It’s always a helluva good time – but there are weeks when it really gets… weird… or funny – like clownmeat. Elgin Alway and Bishop getting crazy in the studio! Bishop is the lead singer and guitarist for Formerly Known As, A Tribute to Prince, and Elgin is one of the top rated comedians in Reno (according to him, anyway). They are a volatile mixture behind the mics.  Seriously, there was even a total Freaky Friday moment when Elgin’s playing guitar and Bishop’s doing the joke-thing. Bishop and Elgin may have been channeling each other at that point – not sure.

Bishop Calvin Cumming IV, lead singer for Formerly Known As, A Tribute to Prince saying "Halp! These honkies be fixinin' to make me a woman!" with a scared look on his face.

Sponsor Time! Reno Computer Fix is offering $25 off any purchase or service over $100 IF you mention the Worst Little Podcast when you go in. These guys repair and sell refurbished computers of all kinds – it’s a sweet deal. They’ve been totally hooking us up here, so get in on the action!

Nick’s Journal Time (An Unexpected Tale) didn’t go exactly as planned – no one let the guests know that they were supposed to shut the hell up. Rory didn’t quite get to go into his review of Doubt, the current production at Bruka Theater – again, lots of interruptions. And by that point we didn’t even ask Rick what his week was like, not because we don’t really care, no! but because we were distracted by Bishop’s ethereal signifyin’ tirades or Elgin’s attempts to get a good Billy Dee Williams groove going on.

Reno Comedian, Elgin Alway, saying "Mebbe" with an amused look of agreement on his face.

A Honky

Bishop is keeping pretty tight lipped about his next performance with Formerly Known As, but Elgin will be appearing this weekend at the Reno Tahoe Comedy Club’s Roast of Pat Schillito, recent guest and friend of the show, this very weekend – so it should be a blast. Chekkit out!

Nick wanted me to remember to talk about something else…. but it was at the open mic at Jub Jub’s when he told me, so I forgot. This coming week though!!! Blazing Mics will be hosted by the awesome and ripping Michelle Coleman of Scarlet Presence!! $1 off for all performers and a $25 bar tab for the best performance of the night! Come on down!!!

And in a completely unrelated note – The Rocky Horror Pinky Show will be reprising their spectacular performance at this year’s Reno Artown!!! Cargo is bringing us back for two performances on July 27! Rocky Horror with a mostly full cast, a live band playing all the songs and lots of partici….. pation. More details about that in the next few months, but write that down!!! Put it on your phone calendar!!! It’s Rocky Horror like you’ve never seen it before.

Anyway…. thanks for listening. 🙂

Shit just got REALS, yo!

Adam.

Finally, finally, finally! We got The Kanes in the studio!! Well, 2/3 of them anyway – Mick was just too cool for school and couldn’t make it, but Adam Springob and Greg Gilmore came in with their guitars and laid down some sweet sweet honey for your ears – including *ahem* another worldwide exclusve first-listen here on the Worst Little Podcast. Yeah. We kewl like dat. These guys are one of the most exciting bands in town, hands down. I love watching them play. This acoustic set they play for us, while a little more laid back, is still pretty powerful and pretty pretty pretty. We talk about their potential shows in the future and some of the shows they’ve played htis summer – and then the quiz. The Quiz! We have our first ever DISQUALIFICATION! Stick around and listen to that!

Greg and Nick.

I also want to take a moment out to mention Kelly ‘Stitch’  Proud, a local performer and friend of the show. Last week, Kelly was hospitalized for an unknown ailment and is currently on a vantilator to breathe for her and a paralytic drip. She is literally fighting for her life right now and not out of the woods yet. Since she is a performer and member of the service industry, she doesn’t have health insurance or much to fall back on when she doesn’t work. If you have the inclination, please visit the link above to make a donation. A singer, musician and actor, Kelly was also the emcee for the Midnight Minx review. They have an upcoming show this thursday at Cargo inside CommRow, RAW Artists Reno: Radiate. Proceeds from tickets bought through Midnight Minx will go to support kelly and pay her bills while she is laid up and recovering. Also, after the show, there will be a benefit party for her at Home inside Rise downtown. All donations in lieu of cover will go to benefit Stitch and there are 241 Industry night drink specials. Please go to an event and help us support this great member of our performing arts community!

Kelly Proud

And, yes, I know I’m going to hell for some of the jokes I made about it, but Stitch would approve. Heh.

I also want to mention that as of this week, The Worst Little Podcast in the World has taken over the open mic at Jub Jub’s Thirst Parlor! That’s right we are now the proud owners of one Worst Little Open Mic!!! Come on down and jam with us every monday night at 9:30-ish. Bands, want some exposure and maybe get booked on the podcast or the bar? Come on down, set up yer shit and play for us!

Thanks for listening!
