We got the SHA-ames! We got the SHA-ames! We got The Shames! We’ve teased you with it for over two years and it’s finally happened! We were finally able to pin down Penny Cillin and Mikie Shame, and they did not disappoint. It is as awesome – awesomer! – as you think it should be. Unfortunately, Shames drummer Cyril was unavailable for the show. The girls came in with a great musical selection – six or seven songs, including a Worst Little Podcast Exclusive first listen to a new Shames song!

At the top of the show we have a chance to talk with Reno native and LA-based comedian David Huntsberger. David is a really funny guy, appearing in comedy clubs nationally and on the podcast “Professor Blastoff“. His latest CD, Explosion Land is available on his website and iTunes. David will be appearing at the Reno Tahoe Comedy Club in the Pioneer Underground June 7 & 8. Go out this weekend and have a laugh with someone from this town who got out and made good!

Adam Springob joins us this week as a solo artist. He’s been stepping out from above Greg Gilmore’s very small shadow and showcasing his own singing and songwriting. It’s really good stuff. Unfortunately, you won’t hear it!!!! He brought a damn band with him this week. Actually – he brought TWO bands with him to make one giNORmous band called …. Something Or Other. Joining him in the studio are Michelle Belle (guitar – Scarlet Presence), Carter Stellon (drums – Scarlet Presence), Samantha Gates (fiddle), and Greg Gilmore (bass – Kanes NOT Merkin – lets be clear about this: Greg is not in The Merkins. He’s not that good.)

We had a really fun time with these guys – so much fun that Nick and The Rev had to take off before the show was done!!! They’re not even sure what happens yet!!! There is a lot of talking, yelling and chaos – more than usual – really. I’m supposed to take down notes and tease it out here, but I seem to have neglected to do that this week, although there is a really awesome drawing of a polar bear holding a surfboard next to the note “Sam seems so nice – why these a-holes?”.

That’s right! After months and months of teasing it out – IT’S REALLY HERE!!! MARIANARCHY 2012!!!!!!! Friday May 18 and Saturday May 19!!!
It’s one hell of a line up this year, with the reunions of Phat Couch and Gunshot Licker on Friday and Saturday nights, respectively. There’s a raffle and silent auction, Happy-Hour Potluck, BBQ. Admission is whatever you can donate to the cause. This year, the proceeds will go to benefit the familes of Rev. Gary Setzer and Jess Blaze (who are secretly pissed that they’re missing this show, or so I’m told). The events will be emceed by yours truly, Reverend Rory. Come see me turn into Jerry Lewis over a 48 hour period!!!
Seriously, though – this is probably my favorite event in Reno every year. You should really check it out. Marianarchy is at the cultural heart of Reno and Ground Zero for a lot of the love and camraderie in the Reno music and sart scenes. It is really something special and you should check it out.
Dave supports free speech and press!
Also on the show this week is Reno City Councilman and Sparks-core native, Dave Aiazzi. Dave is a really good friend of Nick’s and a big supporter of our simmering arts scene here in Reno. He also knows how to take a joke (Thanks in advance for not getting a cease and desist on the picture, Dave). Irma Geddon jumps into the fray with some insightful questions about how people can get things done with the city, what happened to the Occupy Moana thing, and what is up with that airline food? For his part, Dave does not particularly care for the airline chicken plate. I think Dave had something he wanted to talk about, but we all kept badgering him with questions and cutting to the music. It was probably important.

What the room sorta really looks like.
Why are these things so much more complicated than they should be?
My apologies for being a day late with this – I know, you’re crushed. First, everyone was late; then it took forever to get started; then there was a delay in post; then I asked Rick to chop up the picture he sent me. THEN I kind of spaced it. And finally, the website was a little slow this morning and I ended up using the really awesome photo by Rick anyway. Ugh! Anyways, welcome to another thrilling episode of The Worst Little Podcast in the World! Since it was such a crazy episode we skipped right over a bunch of things we did last week that were fun and I’m not going to tell you about here either. Suffice to say, we are older, wiser and stronger.
On the show we are treated to a number of LIVE SONGS by Reno favorite, Big Remote! Jon Cornell, Eric Foreman, Don Morrison and Steve Larkins sit in and are right at home talking out of their ass with us. We talk a littl about the trials and tribulations of recording an album as they are looking forward to releasing their first album, “Jenkins”. As a band, Big Remote is tight, melodic and layered; as an interview, Big Remote is somewhat more… chaotic. The quiz gets heated as they all deliver some big answeres for big points, but what else do you expect from a bunch of guys compensating so hard that they had to pt ‘BIG’ in their band name. And let’s not even get into the symbolic meaning and imagery of a remote, much less a big one. At least their wives and girlfriends are nice.
One last thing we forgot to mention on the show – CAPTURED! BY ROBOTS!!!!! They will be appearing at Jub Jub’s on Thursday, 10/27 for J-BOT’S Birthday. But before you go to that, don’t forget to stop by Dogwater Studios for the Annual Punkin’ Carving Party and Great (Un)Discovered CD Release party!!!!!
