It’s the last show…
…of Season 3!!!
The Juxtaposeurs visit us this week at Dogwater Studios. The Juxtaposeurs are an ensemble cast of musicans, dancers, performers and tech crews. They have assembled to put on an encore production of The Hazards of Love Tribute Show. Following the inspiration of Assistant Directors Gabe Hilton and Kaitlin Oki, they recreate and stage the narrative told in The Decemberists’ album “The Hazards of Love”. This show was very well received when we first performed it in the Fall of 2010 and we are putting it on again at Jub Jub’s Thirst Parlor in just a few weeks.
We? Oh, did I forget to mention that Reverend Rory is in this production? Well he is. An original cast member, along with vocalists Marlene and Music Director Chris Nelson, they are joined by many new talents including vocalist Margy Ford. Jon Cornell steps up and accompanies them although he is not in the production this time around.
The Hazards of Love Tribute Show will be at the Jub Jub’s Thirst Parlor Showroom for 7:30 PM shows on Fridays and Saturday 2/7, 2/8 and 2/14 with a Sunday Matinee at 2:30 on 2/9. Music entertainment will follow at the main bar. Tickets for The Hazards of Love Tribute Show, available at Jub Jub’s, Prism Magic, The Melting Pot or cast members, are $12 in advance or $15 at the door and include admission to the after parties.
Finally a shout out to the fine folks at The Generator! They put on a fine pot luck meal for artists and patrons and friends every Wednesday at their facility and are always looking for anyone interested in getting involved. THey are having a bg fundraiser on Saturday 2/15 – Buy It or Burn It! All the pieces up for auction will be voted on to be displayed with pride at the Generator or immolated with delight at the Generator.
Back on Track for the new season next week!
Thanks for listening.
Yeah, Yeah, I know….
Season Three is winding to a close. Things will be ALL NEW in Season Four. Like getting the podcast out on time (still looking for the right
sucker applicant to fill the position of Production Intern – contact Reverend Rory to make that happen).
But still, this is a fun show. This here is VOTED BEST BAND!!! They are an underrated rock talent in the Reno are, hailing from the rural community of Black Rock, NV. Inspired by the music of their now far off youth, they continue to play the anthems and dancing music that first sent them down the life of punk rock losers.
These Voted Best Band guys are seriously wasting their talent in this project, with pedigrees that include some of the mightiest Reno bands including The Vampirates, The Riptide Bandits, Suckapunch, Twelve Gauge Facelift and more. This kind of star power doesn’t just happen overnight. It takes years of meticulous study and rehearsal to write the kind of songs they do. Which is to say none.
This episode was a lot of fun and the boys came to play ball with the quiz. I forget everything that was said, but it was really funny. Bear with us, it felt like a slow start before it grew to our normal cacophony. But maybe that’s a good thing.
OMG, this one is late too…
Hey, Ladies and Gentlemen!
Welcome to the first show of the new year. We had some technical issues this week and it pushed back the podcast a little, but we have a fun show for you. The whole gang’s here and Chewie brought in some great tapes of the Great Old Ones of the Reno scene. Joining us also are Sam O’Brien and Victoria Velasquez.
Sam O’Brien is a leading comic and writer at Empire Improv, making audiences laugh since at least a couple of days ago. A busy man, Sam is also a teacher at Rainshadow High School and very involved in the Reno arts and education communities. He joins us this week mostly as a comic, but has some upcoming events related to the high school that he is really excited to promote.
Victoria Velasquez is also in the studio with us. A fellow teacher at Rainshadow, Vicki is also involved in the Reno art scene as a resident artist at Reno Art Works. You can find her there most evenings as well as her work hanging on the walls of her studio space at RAW.
I could say more about what they’ve got going on, but that’s for you to find out when you listen. Again, a big thanks to Sam O’Brien and Victoria Velasquez for being on the show!
We have a lot of fun with the progeny in the studio this week!!! PRINCESS BOMBS!
Merry Christmas, ya”ll.
Thanks for listening!
